Back again looking for suggestions for a co-op game available on Gamepass that can play online with brother. In the past we've played through;

Sniper Elite 4

Sniper Elite 5

A Way Out

It Takes Two

Turtles: Shredders Revenge

Streets of Rage 4

Monster Hunter? I've never played it, but I'm also looking for co-op games with a friend.

For those that have played it, is there any narrative to follow?

Kind of? It's kinda half arsed and irrelevant but progress is gated by single player guff I think. You can't co-op the Village Quests which is phenomenally stupid to me.

Is there an easy way to tell which games are on Xbox Game Pass but not PC, and vice-versa? I'm thinking of selling my XSX and going PC only, but I want to know if I'll be giving up any Xbox-only gems by doing so. It's pretty much like-for-like nowadays, right?

you can see the two selections in the iOS app. It’s like for like for Microsoft published stuff (after a while - there’s the occasional game like AoE that takes a while). There’s a bit of a difference in the two catalogues otherwise - not huge, but it’s there.

I get that there might be some mouse and keyboard PC games you wouldn't get on Xbox, but I wouldn't think there would be that many Xbox games you can't play on PC. Maybe some licensed stuff, perhaps, like Goldeneye. Anyway, I'll have a look.

Battletoads

Crackdown 3

Deep rock galactic

All the Gears games

The Halos

Human fall flat (hilarious)

Zombie army 4 (based on the Sniper Elite games)

All really good co-op experiences.

Yes. There are monsters, and you must hunt the monsters.

Sometimes there are two. Between hunts there will be execrable dialogue with NPCs that you will absolutely hate.

Amazing game.

The Village quests are so easy anyway they’d be pointless in multiplayer. You can just jump straight into the Hub quests and ignore them completely. No gating at all.

You could probably stream the stuff you cant play natively on pc anyway?

No, but my point was you have to do them to get further and I'd you were playing just for the coop part you're going to be constrained until you do the mandatory nonsense. If they were coop they'd be less of a chore.

You don’t have to do them.

Oh, right, thanks.

I like to follow a narrative strand, even in online titles so this perhaps isn't for me then.

There's bits of the game that you don't get if you don't do them, aren't there? Things like getting more wire bugs, dango and unlocking further monsters? Plus the rampage has to be done to progress, but you can coop that?

All monsters are available in the Hub (many more than in the village). The Hub also has its own rampages. 90% of Rise (and 100% of Sunbreak) is co-opable, the Village really is nothing more than an extended tutorial.

There are a few cosmetics and a couple of dango that can only be got through specific Village quests but they are far from essential.

Seriously, if you want to play Rise multiplayer then just go for it. You don’t need to pay any attention to the single player stuff if you don’t want to.

Maybe see how Wild Hearts pans out in a couple of weeks?

Yeah, I will.

Are there any other co-op games coming out anytime soon on the service?
