I like 5… but it has some shitty difficulty spikes.

especially if you’re a map explorer like me, and come across a set piece ahead of time.

saying that…  the open world is great.

but wtf is going on with Faith Seed!?!

I don't play many FPS these days, beyond dabbling with PvZ I guess. I seem to recall the original Far Cry being more about "can you run this good looking game from Crytek?", with pretty water and stuff. I don't even recall finishing it. And then a mate loaned me 3 back on the 360 but I barely made a dent in it. That there was an elephant on the front cover is all I can remember.

But... the premise of this one is just utterly gripping, so while I doubt I will play 6, or any others, mowing down these Let's Pretend Soldiers is actually pretty cathartic in 2022.

Hey peeps sorry for not reading back, hoping someone can help me with a quick query.

I have Game Pass Ultimate but I'm thinking of cancelling as I mostly play PC games at the moment.  My main concern is my save game data for games I have played on Game Pass.  If I cancel my sub, but later re-activate it, do my saves still exist somewhere somehow?  For example, for Streets of Rage IV.

Secondarily, I really hope my FFXV save still exists, I think it's left Game Pass now - I finished it in 2020 but was going to come back to it at some point and dabble in some of the endgame content.  I didn't buy it outright, I was just playing it whilst it was there.  If at some point I bought it outright, would my save still be <somewhere> ?  Should I buy it before I cancel GamePass or does it not matter?

Generally, unless I'm very much mistaken, that shouldn't be a problem: Xbox cloud saves (whether PC or console) aren't limited to Gamepass subscribers - it doesn't work like Playstation Plus or Nintendo Online in this regard, happily. As long as you have the same Xbox account, you should be fine.

However, more specifically I'm unsure, as when it comes to PC Xbox games I don't believe it's mandated that they have to support cloud saves. If the game used them in the first place, then they should remain available to you; if they didn't, however, then obviously you won't be so lucky! As SoR4 is a Play Anwhere title it should support them, but I've no idea about FFXV!

Thanks Wiper! I was only playing FFXV on the Xbox itself (and would continue to do so I think, when I go back to it).  I can safely cancel and save another £11 for now then!

Just trying to only pay for subs when I use them now :)

Prodeus on Xbox will be great, I’ve played a couple of levels on PC, but big screen couch goodness will be nice!

That was pretty much what I thought too! I had no idea it was coming to console so this is great news :).

Ghost Song and Moon Scars are two games that I knew nothing about and I’m really liking the look of them as well!

Likewise. It's fantastic on SteamDeck, I've been so, so enjoying it. It really understands Doom 93 level design fun. Can't wait to play it on the big screen, but gutted about the loss of gyro controls. Man I wish MS would speed up their Elite 3 controller release. Tempted to double dip on PS5 if it has gyro support (as I did, without regrets, for the quake re-release).

But yeah, them humble games (and immortality) are literally my highlights of the service so far this year. Moonscar looks fantastic!

Did the tutorial for Midnight Fight Express. Feels clunkier than I was expecting, but really like the look and style of the game. And yeeting wrenches at enemies will never not be brilliant.

Think it will be a good one to pick up for 10-15 minute blasts.

Maybe I'm strange, but I find the idea of middle class people getting cathartic joy out of murdering fictional rednecks to be deeply alien to me.

Yeah I started a thread about it. Something like "are you tired of killing things".

Edit

Another reason why stealth games are the best - the greatest satisfaction comes from not being seen by anyone and not touching anyone - passing through the levels as if no visitor was ever there. A ghost. Leaving everything and anyone completely undisturbed. *Not* killing is the highest possible goal in these games, it's what makes stealth a superior genre.

*looks nervously at Hitman and Tenchu*

This is one of the most lovable things about Thief, to be fair; the fact that playing on Hard actually prohibits you from killing anyone.

(and is also one of the ways that Thi4f demonstrated its complete lack of understanding of the series: getting, like, five minutes in and having the tutorial force you to use a Badass Stealth Kill mechanic)

There were two blokes next to a caged dog I had to rescue. I'd be interested to know what non-lethal options I had there. Unless we're not talking about Far Cry.

Far Cry has stealth but I don't consider it a stealth game. And with any pure stealth game I see it as a major flaw if I'm forced to kill anyone.

Yeah, but still - Hitman gets a pass because the optimal way of playing is to only take out your target - who is always a confirmed total scumbag. Everyone else lives.

Tenchu is a different beast tbh. The fun challenge is always to kill every single last one of them, leaving a trail of corpses to be discovered without anyone having a clue what happened. The major flaw there is that they always insisted on having bosses. I love the series, but every single one of those games would be so much better if you could either stealth the bosses or they weren't included at all.

I recently played ThiAf again just to see if it was as bad as I remembered or whether there was fun to be had if I didn't approach it as if it were an actual Thief game. It was horrendous still. A truly awful game.

I also want try Hitman Absolution again sometime :)

Guess that's what they are calling the Gamepass "family" plan.

Nice. Seeing as they’re saying friends, I’m taking it you don’t all need to be in the same house.

Why the speech marks by the way?

I completed a few levels of Midnight Fight Express and then deleted it. Just felt a bit like a cheap, poor man's Arkham but without any of the other good stuff around it. Life's too short and my game pass queue too big.

Pretty much the same as me. Really didn't grab me at all.

My personal standout is Signs of the Sojourner (which has the benefit of being quite brief, too, so easy to fit in before it leaves).

Good recommendation. I haven't really played anything like it before: a conversation-based card game. Worth a couple of playthroughs as I think it takes a little time to click. On the bad side, it's a major slog trying to see a lot of the stories and/or achievements. But just following the main path is a couple of days or less to do.
