Xbox Game Pass - GUIDE TO BEST DEAL IN FIRST POST

Depends on what they do with gold and the conversion. At the moment you can let it lapse and then do the conversion again (if just cost 12 quid at that point). Currently I'm using my reward points to get cards to extend it for free. Personally if I couldn't do either of those I'd still pay the monthly cost seeing as I think I'd already get the value from it and by the time my sub runs out I can't even begin to imagine what the library will be like.

I'd imagine other people might just start to dip in and out. Game you like the look of comes out that month, sub for a month and play it through.

Mine runs out next June. I don't think I'll get GPU (although streaming available via the XB1 and PC apps might change my mind), but either way it'll all get paid with rewards points.

That said, now I've really leaned into GP, I'll happily pay $9.99 a month for it anyway.

My plan is to use the horde of Microsoft Awards points I’ve built up to extend it each year. Currently sitting on over 100k so by the time my £1 deal expires at the end of 2023 I reckon I should have enough for another 3 years at least.

I don’t ever see myself paying actual money for Game Pass at this rate. The absurd value of it still makes me laugh at how ridiculous it is.

If I topped up the gold subscription for another year would the gamepass subscription extend with it?

You could have started with the max 3 years…

Now you get a conversion rate of 3 months of live will get you 50 days of GPU.

Or you can do rewards points stuff and top it up for free*

*dependent on what you feel your time is worth,

No. Best bet is to let it expire in May, then buy up to 3 years gold (maximum amount allowed) as cheap as possible. Then do the 1 month Game Pass Ultimate conversion trick again for 3 years Ultimate. It will either cost you 1 quid or 10 quid for 1 month GPU if the discount doesn't apply anymore. That's still 3 years GPU for 10 quid though.

Well I've been extending mine whenever there's a 'Xbox Game Pass Ultimate 3 Month Membership + 3 Months FREE' deal on Amazon.

I’ve paid two years full price as my console is an all access one (all I could find at the time) but I don’t regret it, and will definitely continue subscribing.

I’d pay £40-50/ year for gold as I have done for years, so and additional £70-80 or the cost of one MS first party game that I’d end up buying anyway? Sure.

though I did the gold conversion around the launch of FH4, and am currently paid up till some time in 2024, with none of those months paid for at full price through buy one get one free, EA play conversion etc, so it’s a while off.

Actually, me too.

I’d already signed up for three years Ultimate doing the £1 conversion so haven’t even activated the All Access sub yet.

I've not done the £1 thing, because it seemed a faff on PC, so yeah I've been full price for a while.

There's basically been a game that I want to play nearly every month this year that costs more to buy than the £8 or whatever it is, whether it's something small like Pillars of Eternity 2 or something large like Doom Eternal or Forza, it's good value.

Ah, it's not so faffy (let's go with that), the site is pretty straightforward to redeem codes and do the upgrade.

But there you have it - Game Pass is so good that even people who could get it cheaper are happy to pay more.

It's stealth yes, but done in a way that seems much more natural (to me anyway). I don't usually like stealth games, but really am enjoying it here. It's a lot less punishing for a start - if you fail and die you don't ever lose a lot of progress, it's never more than a minute or two. And there are multiple ways to approach things - you can just kill people and not have to worry about creeping quite so much, or try to go through really leveraging distractions etc

It's pretty linear - which for me is also a big plus - I've just not got the time or energy for wandering around trying to work out what to do next in a lot of games theses days.

So, last night I hit a section right near the end with a cart and some archers - after having *really* enjoyed the game up to that point, I can tell you I almost put my controller through my TV with that bit and gave up. What an absolute stain on the game, and how it made it through development/playtesting I'll never know.

Luckily I finally managed it (by restarting the level in the knowledge that bit was coming and managing some resources differently), and things went back to 'normal' - but wow, they almost totally ruined it right at the death with that. Madness.

Still, done and can't wait for the next one now!

I'm seeing a lot of these that are only saying Series X / PC as their platforms. A handful sat Xbox One too.

So I wonder if Microsoft have dropped the "all 1st party games are forward compatible" chat, or if its the case of wording and they will be playable via xcloud on the One.

I posted similar in the ‘what are you playing’ thread recently. Really soured the experience for me too, and dampened my enthusiasm for the next somewhat too. I’ve got over it a bit now though and will still play the sequel (especially if it’s on game pass - no brainer then)
