Dogeball Acedemia seems like it might be fun. It got some good reviews praising the battle system.

Played about 30 mins and it is fun so far. Can see the battle system getting great later on.

Starmancer has made a good starting impression for me. It is very, very similar to oxygen not included, with obvious influence from the publishers other games like stardew valley and wargroove, and also rimworld.

It seems pretty slick so far, especially for early access. Some of my key complaints about ONI have been addressed (such as working airlock doors). I can imagine that people who are not familiar with ONI will struggle with information overload early game so they need to work on that.

I'd definitely recommend people give it a go if they enjoy the colony sim/strategy survival genre.

Played the first chapter of each character in The Last Stop and like the setting, the stylised look, some of the framing of scenes and the snappy little episodes.

I don't like the voice acting nor the script so far though, with its stilted delivery and amateurish lines. I also don't really get the point in bothering with the limited quarter-circle interaction stuff, nor why sometimes the character will auto-walk and others not for no particular reason. I actually think that stuff is getting in the way of the story, which is the whole point of this game.

It also irrationally annoyed me the cab driver in the Agent's first chapter was sat on the left, despite driving on the right :quote:

That said, I'm enjoying the fact I can, in most cases, just push forward to move through it. It's quite relaxing at the moment.

Where to start with everything that got released this week, they all look great. Gamepass is ridiculous.

If you haven't played Katamari Damacy before then you have to start there.

Seven chapters into last stop and it’s just lovely. And almost designed to annoy the “it isn’t a game” crowd.

It really is bloody excellent. Life is Strange crossed with Doctor Who sponsored by Greggs. And one of the most authentic depictions of modern Britain I've seen in any media in the last ten years. I would love to know what the Americans make of it all.

And done. Short, sweet. I got on far better with it than I did with Virginia.

I hated Virginia, I thought it thought it was much more clever than it was.

I'm really enjoying nearly everything about The Last Stop though, I think it looks beautiful and real in its own way. I'm not liking the script all that much though, I'm finding it clunky and the responses are almost LA Noire level of not matching what you select (though I think choices only matter in the final chapter?) I'd love to see more games in this style, it's very sedate gaming.

I still think they could've left out the odd little interactions though (making tea or running in the park). They don't add anything to the experience and won't convince people who don't think it's a game to change their opinion.

Does Last Stop have a decent ending or is it a bit Virginia-ish? I thought that was great up until the final chapter and then it just went to hell in a handcart.

The ending completed crapped the bed for me and ruined what had been, up until that last chapter, a really intriguing story. Honestly, it's taken much of the shine off of what came before, because it had done enough right for me to not play anything else since last night when I started it.

I'm left feeling really disappointed and have unanswered questions (plus there's a massive plot hole no characters care to even mention, let alone comprehend). A real pity.

Downloaded Lumines. As much fun as I remember it being on handheld.

Currently playing Omno.  Delightful little game.   Would love for the jump response to be a little tighter but you soon get used to it...mostly. Much nicer as you unlock more abilities.  I stuck spotify on and chose some lo-fi beats playlist. Noice!

You see I found the ending fine. The final choices were fine too, as long as you’d been deliberately roleplaying the characters so that the choice they’d take was obvious. And you could roleplay the characters so that one of each choice was valid (I’m less sure about each choice being as valid in a single playthrough, but that’s ok).

I had one unanswered question, but I’m not sure it’s a question that necessarily needs an answer in the context of the world they’ve set up, and it certainly doesn’t need an answer in the genre they’re writing the story in.

but perhaps this is a PM conversation!

PM away, I'd be interested in your thoughts on it!

@footle @Gabe Don’t take it to pm! I’m currently playing through it now and would love to join in the discussion once I’m done, so why not start a new topic for it, or just stick your thoughts in spoilers in here? I’m sure there’s a few of us who’ll want to talk about it.

Done. It’d be too painful in spoilers in here.

I started ‘The Last Stop’ last night too.  Thought it would be one of those games I could just play 10 mins or so each night to drop an achievement for the daily 50 MS points, which it would but I got interested in it and played way too long.

I was playing as the Agent woman, and one thing that did stand out for me was the responses you select for dialogue,  bears very little resemblance to what she actually ends up saying after you select an option.  Is this the same all the way through the game, as it just struck me as odd?

It's the same all the way through the game, but to be fair none of your responses have any consequences so whilst slightly irritating, it doesn't really matter.

I really didn't get on with Monster Train. People kept comparing it to Slay the Spire but it's a lot more scrappy. Monster Train is fun but the balance of cards in StS is actual art.

It's scrappier, but that's both to its benefit as well as its detriment.

StS feels very tightly controlled and honed, as you say, but that means it lacks the mad shit that can pop off on Monster Train.

The scrappiness is a lot of fun.
