Does the version of Doom Eternal on Game Pass not have the campaign or something? Just downloaded it and can only play multiplayer for some reason?

Probs down loading the rest of you look, giving access to MP whilst it downloads story content.

Just been fiddling with Carrion for a couple of hours. Score another one for “games I would never buy [until they were in a Humble Bundle] but I’m thoroughly enjoying”. I spent a lot of time slurping around the walls and backtracking while not being sure where to go, which definitely isn’t ideal, but it’s so quick and fun to navigate that it’s a lot less of an issue. And you also get the same feeling of being a Horrible Goose, except being a Horrific Amorphous Blob when torturing and tearing apart puny humans, which is great fun. If it cost money (properly) I’d be quite cautious recommending it, but as it’s Game Pass it’s a strong Worth A Go/10.

It had finished downloading fully, I had to then manually tell it to download the campaign, as it hadn’t triggered for se reason. Weird.

That is weird. Mine downloaded the whole thing in one go, no separate downloads at all.

It's not a game I'll finish at all, but it looks pretty and it's been good fun so far.

I was enjoying Carrion but I stopped playing it for a few weeks and when I picked it back up again I just had absolutely no idea where to go next. Ended up going round and round and round in circles and eventually gave up.

I got to a point about half way through it where the same thing happened to me and I had to resort to a guide.

I also got around 75% through the game before I realised you could absorb your biomass back from the pools where you deposit it

However it’s one of the most enjoyable retro / pixel art games I’ve played this generation.

Elder Scrolls Online seems to be adding a few of the DLC packs now on game pass. Morrowind is now the standard, which I think includes a couple of other expansions.

That is a lot of game.

I bought a disc based version of the base game a few years back for a fiver and never got on with it. As a (primarily) single player experience how is it now with all the expansions and what not?

It's fantastic. Absolutely massive (even without any of the expansions) and heavily weighted towards single-player questing. You can go anywhere in the world and pick up quests and storylines without having to worry about being the right level.

If you subscribe to ESO Plus you immediately get access to every expansion and bit of DLC, too, apart from the most recent. But there's a huge amount in there without having to do that.

Yeah it scratches the ES itch alright, I've played hundreds of hours and nver once bother teaming up with anyone or doing raids, joining a guild or any of that shite. Just playing it like was Oblivion or something. You'll see other players running around but they sometimes come in handy if you are fighting a boss or whatever.

It's great really, and this year is all Skyrim, all the time.

Yeah, the only time I've experienced it is with Forza Horizon 4 where it's entirely flawless, you just get a brief pop up when you change systems while it downloads the save file, takes maybe 10 seconds most of the time even on my shit for internet.

There's a surprising amount of cross save games though, some of which aren't even listed as "Play Anywhere". I was surprised when I loaded up No Man's Sky for instance, and saw it synchronising with my Xbox save.

Other recent games I noticed were Spiritfarer, Children of Morta and the Halo MCC,

It's great for RPGs and tactics games. I played through the original Bards Tale and I'm almost done with Mutant: Year Zero, no hitches at all. Works well although feels a bit fragile and janky on the Windows side where you get loads of system windows popping up to tell you it's syncing etc.

Are any of you using game streaming on a 2.4 GHz connection?

I went and bought a controller for cloud streaming and it's just unplayable on my 2.4ghz connection and I don't see any option to change it in my WiFi settings.

I have a good connection and was thinking it shouldn't be this unplayable. Is there any kind of workaround?

Sit next to your router and try not to move?

I’ve had my eye on this and was enjoying reading your review. Then you compared it to that fucking goose game and you’ve put me right off.

Who is your broadband provider? My router from Sky was single band, so phoned up and told them I needed a newer router and they sent one out. Doesn't do any harm to say your speed isn't what it should be either...

It's the new sky router. It's definitely 5ghz enabled.

I think it's my phone that doesn't have it. Oh well.

But the Controller up for sale in the trading thread if anyone is interested.

They’re really, really not similar apart from making cuntery into good fun.
