Thanks, more or less what I thought and seems fair enough I suppose. Just saw on PC that some were leaving and wondered how it would work. I imagine if I bother to download it'll be because I want to play and it might even spur me on to think it might leave soon rather than leaving it to rot in a Steam library for the mythical day when I feel like it.

They give a 20% discount on a game when it is about to leave, but you’re apnoea always better waiting for the next sale.  Also, some games leave the service and then rejoin a few months later, although some never come back. It’s hard to guess which way that’ll go.

EDIT: Also, if you’re on PC you can mostly just find the save and open it on a version you’ve got from another store. That’s not 100%, but it’s worked for me so far.

I tend to either go all in intensely and play straight though something or just dip in for a taste anyway so it should suit me okay.

Only games where it wouldn’t might be stuff like RDR which I think was on there wasn’t it? That and GTA or games that you might play over a long period to just fuck about in Intend to take my time a bit more. Think I just got bored of RDR2 though. If it had left my HDD a bit earlier I don’t think I’d have missed it.

If you install a game when it hits the service and actually play it, if you’re still playing it months later when it goes you’ll not begrudge paying for it. All that’s happened is that you’ve had a demo that’s lasted for 6 months and you’re going to be able to get it cheaper. There’s really no down sides.

My main complaint is the short notice you get when something is about to leave. Two weeks isn’t enough to play through most games. Well it isn’t for me.

It’s definitely best to jump on stuff as soon as it appears on GamePass, if you think you’re going to like it.

I've only been caught out once and game pass accounts for most of my gaming. The one time was with the Division and I managed to get a physical copy for a fiver anyway.

I've installed stuff on PC that I never got round to starting before it was removed though...

It would be handy if they let you know a couple of months in advance though.

A few days ago I bought 3 years of games pass in prep for a Series X that I pre-ordered. Today I thought I'd try out streaming via the app, to get a taster. I used my DS4 as controller.

I was really impressed. It was not perfect, but it was very good. Maybe I'm really behind the times, but it felt pretty fucking cool playing Forza on my phone.

So my game pass 1 month trial that came with my refurb xbox has expired.  Do I now get a couple of 12 months live prepaid https://www.shopto.net/en/dwnld46902-xbox-live-prepaid-12-month-gold-membership-card-p83275/,  enter them in one at a time and then use the £1.00 trick on the dashboard?  These things never work for me which is why I'm asking.

£25 wasted on a game I haven't actually played yet.

Yep I bought Doom Eternal on release, then decided I should complete Doom 2016 again first, then only played about 3 levels of Eternal.
Since then I had buyers remorse, knowing I should’ve bought the PC version instead, so the fact it’s coming to Gamepass for PC later this year is cool.

Do first party games stay there forever?

ALMOST all of them do.

There are games they are obliged to stop selling for some reason and these will no doubt leave GP at the same time.  This pretty much only applies to 4 year old Forza games.

Just wondered why Game pass kept telling me I didn’t have permission to play a game I’d downloaded.

I still had my PC region set to Kiribati from installing Flight Sim early, and the game I had installed wasn’t available in that territory. Just a tip in case anyone else runs into it and wants to avoid the wasted hour googling.

Errr...so Night in the Woods and Vermintide II just got added. Did we know those were coming?

Game Pass keeps on giving.

It got lost in the launch madness, MEGATON Gaf meltdown cycle, but MS announced a further bunch of games for this month.

Company of Heroes 2 (PC)

Destiny 2

Halo 3: ODST

Night in the Woods

Vermintide 2

One of the genious aspects of the Series S + gamepass combo are the surprise releases.

People who usually play on PS5 might pick up a Series S with game pass because it is so cheap. Then, a new game comes out that they are interested in, look to buy on PS5, for say £20 for the download. Then they have a quick look and see that it is included in game pass, so they think "WTF, this new game is on game pass on release", so they play it on game pass and don't buy it for £20 on PS5 and aren't playing on the PS5.

Then a week or 2 later, another game comes up,  that's also on game pass, and the process repeats.

All of a sudden, this person who mainly played on PS4 last gen is spending most of their gaming time on game pass on XBOX and ignoring the PS5.

Over time, they slowly migrate to XBOX due to the familiarity of the pad, interface etc. for all third party games and only venture to PS5 for exclusives.

One of the reasons I picked up a refurb xbox.  Been playing The Messenger which I could have picked up on switch, but for the same price also been dipping in and out of Lonely Mountains as well.  Choice is a good thing.

I think a lot of people, using Xbox as a second option, will be very surprised at what is on offer on game pass, once they actually start digging in to it. So much more than how some people perceive it to be which is Forza and Gears.

You can run the streaming app on PC through Bluestacks.  Works really well as most of us will likely be hardwired in for t'internet.  Obviously the picture is 720p but my RTX sharpens and upscales it quite nicely and they will be changing to using One Xs soon (currently One Ss) so the pic will be a lot better.

Why would you do that when you can stream direct from your xbox on PC? or is this just for xcloud and is xcloud not coming to PC?

My game pass ultimate runs out 14/11 just after I get my series X can I stock up on gold and convert to ultimate again once it's expired?

The best thing to do would be to stock up on gold on a new account, set your xbox as your 'home' xbox, convert that to Ultimate for £1 and then you can still play the games on your main account, just let the sub lapse, ultimate and gold and the benefits are shared.
