Worked fine for me last night. It's nice to have the Haunted Forest back. The game seems to have a lot of these matchmade PvE activities now but this feels like one of the better ones - there's plenty of variety in enemies, the changing map keeps it interesting, and the difficulty ramps up at about the right speed. The event grind seems nicely achievable as well, which is encouraging in sharp contrast to the Ariana's Vow catalyst which I kind of want because I can see how it would be useful, but man, i really can't be arsed doing 100 Strikes or Crucible matches with it, or fifty Gambit Prime matches.

I’m a big fan of the Haunted (and Verdant) Forest - it makes use of a setting that (for me) was kind of redundant after the story of Osiris was over, it’s fun trying to get one more loop in before the time expires, and the long-term goals are often on the right side of achievable.

I still manage to occasionally cock up the collapsing floor bit at the end though...

I've been using the Jade Rabbit for that. It's absolute filth.

Yeah, so have I, definitely seems more reliable than Polaris.

For that quest, you need to get yourself in to the new momentum control mode. Weapon damage is ramped up and Jade Rabbit (and probably all scouts) is a 1-headshot kill. I just got 22 scout kills in 1 game!

.....and then 27 in the next. Jade Rabbit is crazy good as the aim assist is 80 and you can just pick the bunny-hoppers off out of the air.

The perk on Polaris Lance seems better suited to PvE than PvP.  The perk on Jade Rabbit is not that useful for either but it doesn’t matter because the gun itself is an absolute savage. It feels less brutal than the D1 version, but it’s still a motherfucker in the Crucible.

I just can't get the hang of Jade Rabbit. In the new mode people are hitting me from nowhere like it's a sniper shot (obviously it kinda is with the damage increase) and I just don't know how they know where I am when there's no radar.

Death is instanteous. Whereas I am too slow/inaccurate aiming with it and much prefer the faster Mida or Scorpion. Only up to about 30 kills on my JR catalyst.

Saying that, as I am not the greatest with the long range precision weapons, the new mode is pretty good for my Revoker quest. Don't need to hit the headshots to get the kills, as a shot anywhere will do it.

FotL seems like less of a grind than last years event, I remember spending ages getting all of the Masks/Triumphs in 2018.  This looks to be doable in a couple of sittings....I could be wrong though.

And I am wrong.... turns out there's a whole Escalation Protocol like event on the Moon, with new weapons too.

Thats nothing to do with Fotl. Its just been added as part of the new dungeon, and you need to do a full run and kill the boss to be able to do the dungeon.

I'd given up on the Randy's grind last week, but a bunch of hours in Momentum Control and I'm heading towards 100% for the final blows part.

Hunter middle-tree Nightstalker, Jade Rabbit, crouch and sweat every corner you're aiming at, slide round every corner you take and the invisibility and truesight you get from crouched precision kills make it easier to chain kills as people re-peek where their teammate got killed and you can see them doing it!

It does highlight how silly the magic bullets in this game are. Pre-firing roughly the right area when someone's about to run around the corner before you can even see them on your screen is a guaranteed headshot with the Jade Rabbit. Just the slightest peek of a head from someone at the window in zone C on the Mars map when you're crouched all the way over in zone A becomes an easy headshot, even though the scope doesn't really give you enough zoom to be that accurate.

I'm still bitter I never got the Jade Rabbit in D1 when it was actually good in PvE. It was the only exotic weapon I needed to get and, of course, it never dropped, and since it was part of that dumb PS4 exclusive content deal Xur never sold it until well after I stopped playing, it might have even been after D2 was out before he sold it.

I've started playing this on PC as well as PS4 now, but tis a lonely place at the moment.  Is there a list of forumites out there I can add to my Steam Friends that might be interested in teaming up for some of the larger endgame stuff?

Apparently you were in another clan, so my accepting your request has turned into a pending invite for you to confirm you want to leave your old one.

Just sent a join request. Should be from Stormbringer on Steam. Cheers, didn't realise we had a PC Clan

Edit: I don't have Shadowkeep yet, only Forsaken

Welcome. :)

Excellent, thanks.. Been enjoying so far. Started on PS4 then didn't get time to play much but when the cross save came in I was able to get a lot more done on PC. Picked up Forsaken in the Steam sale and will see about Shadowkeep if the price drops. Got so much to get through as it is :)

They rotate daily unless I'm confusing it with one of the other trillion things to do in this game.

It is frustrating they're broken still though. I could be working towards Izanagi's, Jotunn and whatever the other 'craft 10 legendary frames' quest is working towards all at the same time. The alternative is do a shit-ton of forges and then do it all again when fixed which I'm not enamoured with. Don't mind doing a few a week but there's too much to do for me as it is.

Just the Izanagi's Burden quest. It was impossible to complete for quite a while and they supposedly fixed it this week but have just broken it in a different way instead. I got the Gofannon key which just disappeared on use instead of unlocking part of the quest. Seen some redditors saying some of the rare quest rewards just disappear as well.

 edit: @K That too? Christ.

The Izanami forge can just straight fuck off.

Ah, it's not so bad. Just have one player on the island lobbing magic balls up to the main bit.

They've definitely made them more difficult in general, whether that's because of the scaling or some other change I don't know. The Izanami forge can just straight fuck off.

It feels like (to me at least) that they didn't test them out in terms of difficulty when they changed all the scaling in Shadowkeep. Pure conjecture of course, they probably did test them and they just got the balancing a bit off.

Usually when I thinks things are difficult I get told I'm just rubbish so it's nice to know it's not just me.

Paula has had the key bug but I've definitely got one since the update and my yellow weapon quests are going up, so I've no idea how they managed to bust it.
