Just that his articles are usually alright? Fuck knows, take with required amount of salt. I don't think he's wrong, though. Bungie shutting off more and more of the game makes onboarding for new players difficult, and if the game is to survive there has to be new players for when old ones fall off.

If anyone's playing on PC and doesn't have all the paid-for expansions, the currently active ones are all available in the shape of the Legendary Edition at Green Man Gaming for £23.52: https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/destiny-2-legendary-edition-pc/.

I have no idea if this is any use to anyone, as it's almost impossible to keep up with D2's labyrinthine pricing models and shifting availability across various platforms. Just be aware that the above pack contains Forsaken, Shadowkeep, and Beyond Light, which is all of the currently-active expansions. But it doesn't contain the current season, Season of the Lost, which lasts until February 22, or the 30th Anniversary Dungeon that's coming on December 7. But you will get the new 6-player activity that comes out at the same time, because that's free. But Forsaken will be going free to play at the same time as the new dungeon comes out, so you might not think it worth buying. And it's being removed from the game on February 22, when the next expansion, The Witch Queen, comes out. But when that happens, if you did buy Forsaken you'll get an exotics pack that allows you to access the exotic weapons from it if you didn't already earn them, whereas if you played it free-to-play you won't. But none of this will get you The Witch Queen, of course. You'll need to buy that separately. And whatever season it comes with, if you want that too.

Anyway, it's £23.52. For now. That much is clear.

Finished the Shadowkeep campaign. Thought it was the best one of the new three. Few bits to potter around with to get the hand cannon and exotic quest I believe.

Does anyone here run the raids still? Will they go too once this new update comes?

Also, and we've talked about this before, it makes it more difficult for returning players. As a casual player whose purchased every game and expansion in the series but never bothered with the whole meta game thing, trying to come back in is 50% "what the hell should I be doing?" and 50% "oh, that thing I bought is no longer available" now.

(Or at least that's how it feels).

It's made me unlikely to bother trying again, and the prospect of giving them more money has completely gone out of the window.

Some guy I was on with last night was on 67!

Obviously I’m only running Atheon CP at this point, with a load of other sad cunts who see some weird value in ‘owning’ a digital weapon in a game I barely play anymore, but if I had to do a whole raid? 67 times? Nah, that shit is broken.

Hey mate, happy to jump in on your next run. Only had a chance to go once.

Still worth getting check points for the alt characters?

I don't really do 'runs' to be honest mate. I jump on the first LFG I see doing Atheon CP, rip through it in 5 minutes (provided they're not idiots) and jump off again. Thing is, Bungie have locked this gun behind a ridiculous level of RNG so most people are just doing the same now and have done it dozens of times. Even just as I'm writing this post I'm wondering if I can be arsed anymore. Nerf is incoming anyway.

Hmm fair enough, but around if needed.

I've lost interest in the game now to be honest. Maybe this new dungeon and the like will re-pique (is that a thing?) my interest, but I've just got back into Cyberpunk and the urge to play that is much stronger than it is to play this game. It's gonna have to be one helluva dungeon...

Is the pay2dungeon account wide or platform specific? Bought on Xbox but don’t really fancy doing it without Stasis once it leaves Gamepass

I had to double dip with BL. Started on PC then my pals came back on PS4/5 so I "had" to buy it again to Raid with them. It's likely the same with the Pay2Loot DLC.

To be honest, I was hoping that the 30th anniversary activity would back-reference Bungie's older games as a little treat for the long-term fans, so I was pretty surprised to see it take the form of a game show hosted by Xur and co-presented by a metaphysical horse. That wasn't what I was expecting. The thing is, I took the time to really dig into Bungie's back catalogue and company history, and go back to the real old days - the pre-Marathon, almost shareware era - and have a look at some of the deep lore. Once I did that, I realised that I still had no fucking idea why the new activity is Total Wipeout presented by Xur and a space horse.

Never done a Dungeon before. They any good? Any Mukrs running fireteams?

I can run it with you mate. Might not be until the weekend as it's all about Halo for the next few days but dungeon looks fun. I'm on Xbox for the foreseeable, I'm not double-dipping any more, but will add you as a Bungie chum.

Love that the horse noises are just a bloke doing a not very good impression of a horse.

Xur seems like a really odd choice for the host of this game mode. If you wanted a ridiculous, fourth wall-breaking voiceover, then surely Drifter or even Shaxx would have been better choices? I would love to hear the Drifter hosting some kind of mad version of Smash TV.

Then again, I feel Bungie are a bit stymied by the availability and fees of their voice artistes more than anything else, hence Ghost not having had any new dialogue for months, and the current seasons focusing on cheaper actors, or just leveraging off the fact that Lance Reddick legitimately loves Destiny, and would probably turn down work so he can do more strike voiceovers.
