He tweeted 2 days ago, and he looked full of beans. He did pull out of appearing at the premiere for the latest John Wick movie though so there must have been something wrong that he kept private.

 

8 years (would have been 9 in November or thereabouts) he's been in Destiny playing Zavala. Not many other original VA's left in the game, and it looked like he'd be here until the end.

With apologies for the namedrop I remember Luke Smith telling me how surprised the Bungie bods were that he actually played the game. He rocked up for a voice session for one of the expansions, they asked him if he had any questions about the script and he goes, like, never mind that. Tell me about the new guns. 

 

Obviously he was about so much more than Destiny but at the same time he was a huge part of it. A constant. Seemed like a real swell guy too. RIP

It’s funny, I love the Wire and I’ve seen him in other things, but all I’m thinking about is that I’ve heard probably hundreds of lines recorded by him in Destiny, some of them numerous times. His voice will still be there but there will never be another line. It’s so brutal and sad.

I don’t play, but it was nice to read this after seeing his wife’s statement.

It's been quite surprising to me how often my mind's returned to how sad it is that he's passed away. Like, celebs and actors and so on die all the time and quite often they're people whose films I've enjoyed or seemed like a nice person or whatever.

 

But it turns out I've spent quite a lot of time in Lance Reddick's company over the years, between all his genre film/TV acting and videogames, and especially with Destiny.

 

It's a real loss. What a shame.

For people who suck, today is a good day for the flawless solo legend lost sector. Finally level 7... which is where I'll probably stay as you need two raids for level 8. It seems a bit unfair that all the legend weekly missions and nightfalls I did this season don't count

ok they really threw everything into the reworked Arms Dealer nightfall. It must now be the hardest of all the current set. Enjoyed it a lot.

What mods are you supposed to use on Crucible gear? Just weapon shit? Orbs seem a bit pointless if you're dying between every 2 kills?

Reaper mod! Do your class thing. Get a kill. Get an orb. Otherwise I just run a bunch of Targeting and Unflinching

I always forgot about Thursday patching and it is the main time I can play at the moment.

Since i have come back to this game it's surprising how often it's unavailable for hours at a time. Is this normal?

First season of a new expansion normally has increased downtime as they patch the things they didn’t realise their changes would break and then patch the things the hot fixes broke.

 

Does seem to have been worse this year for Lightfall than it was for Witch Queen mind.

 

Last year the issue was more the API going down for days at a time which broke all the LFG functionality that was irritating.

They set the next levels just right to tempt me into continuing. Finally got to level 9 last night after being stuck with just Last Wish to complete. I'd done the early encounters so many times but just never had a completion. I found it difficult to get an LFG going even when I had a queens walk checkpoint on offer. That's definitely now my limit, I'm not doing GM nightfalls or master solo flawless lost sectors for 10.

Fallen off this hard and not sure why. Well maybe. There's too much to do for the amount of time I want to spend doing it in this game. It's an overload of bounties and activities.

Funnily enough for me it feels a little more manageable than Witch Queen season one. Most of the high end  content feels a fun rather than silly difficulty too which has been a bonus.

 

I’m 5 off Pinnacle cap, cleared the Lightfall campaign on legend, done all the exotic quests, done the seasonal story and only got a little more light grinding to get the seasonal title (and next weeks legendary battleground).

 

Should be done by next week if not the week after whereas normally I’m playing all season to the exclusion of anything else.

 

Really enjoyed Lightfall so far, plot stupidity aside it’s been another decent slab of Destiny.

See I wrote this and then realised that you need Avalon on legendary for the title.

 

Now on normal, Avalon is a testing but entertainingly tricky mission I thoroughly enjoyed solo.

 

On Legendary, either with a full LFG fireteam or solo it’s bloody ridiculous. Wasted an entire afternoon and not even managed to get to Brakion once (only actually managed to clear the first encounter twice).

 

This better get patched before season end as this is just nutty to make it a title requirement, it’s miles harder than the raid or a bleeding Grandmaster currently.

They've already made it easier once this season in an update - which is how i managed to do it. Not keen on doing it another two times for the catalysts. I expect they will tweak it again as it is still very tough.
