It's obvious why they don't include them, but I do sort of want the game to let you give development points to players as well as commendations. Like 'revive other players, you selfish prick' and 'shoot champions with the appropriate weapon'.

That's what you're there for!

I just spam the commendations at the end of every activity but when I get one saying I was a ‘Playmaker’ in the crucible, I’m all like ‘yeah bro, I guess I was, thanks for noticing’

They seem utterly pointless once you make them a triumph.

Been taking my time with this so only now reached the end of the legendary campaign and I have only one thing to say.

Fuck Calus + 2 Tormentors, plus endless adds in a small arena with tons of explosions that will punt you off the edge. 3 hours of attempts and got to the second phase twice.

(struggling as if I’m running void my invis does a good job of keeping me alive but really need to the grapple for the arena. Not enough red bars to rely on Assassins Cowl with Strand which is how I got through headlong).

I’ve actually really enjoyed the Legendary campaign up to now and found the solo difficulty tough but balanced but this is bloody ridiculous.

I am that close to doing the stair cheese…sure I could just finish it on classic but I want the armour drops and the exotic and feel I’ve earned them without a huge badly designed difficulty spike ruining them for me.

Gah…will do it tonight one way or the other!

I feel like the fight would be fine if they didn't infinitely spawn flamethrower guys on the outside platforms. Most of my failed attempts were due to one of them punting me with knockback as I was trying to get past them, either throwing me into the path of something deadly or otherwise messing up my grapple attempt.

My strategy:

Spoiler

I used Strand, which ended up being very helpful for the second phase. My main weapon was the Quicksilver Storm, which I think is useful in a lot of different situations.

At the start of the fight I used my Super to clear out one of the outer platforms platforms. They have some indestructible cover near the connection to the main platform, and it was pretty easy to make Calus shoot that whilst I whittled him down over the top. If did his Darkness attack before he got his shield, I relocated to one of the other outer platforms and cleared that out instead.

Once the first Tormentor appeared I stuck to using the higher walkways until I took it down. When it got close to me I'd unload my Quicksilver's stored grenades, then retreat to the next walkway; I'd try to take out some enemies on the platforms between en route, but it wasn't my focus. There's cover on the walkways that can block Calus's fire.

When the Tormentor was down I basically went back to the first step, clearing out one of the platforms and whittling Calus down from there. If you burn him down fast enough you can probably ignore/avoid the second Tormentor, but in my case I just repeated the process above.

As for the second phase, my only real strategy there was to focus on the Psions whenever they spawned and grapple to the other side of the arena whenever Calus got close.

@dreamylittledream  Glad I wasn’t the only one. I heard so much ‘hmm, tough but fair’ and I’m just thinking I should maybe try fishing instead.

Just cheese it, I did and I couldn’t give a fuck. Although I got gastric flu the day after and tonight is my first time back on in a week so be careful, jus sayin.

Also, do I really need to earn several thousand of those green strand things to unlock all the fragments? I just did a terminal wotsit public event and I got…..7 🧐

So. Feel like I’ve asked this before but…

If I want to jump into Destiny 2 having played it when it first came out then played half of beyond light…

Would buying The Witch Queen for £14 be worth it? Or should I just jump in for £40 with the latest one? Not fussed about knowing all the story but I gather the witch queen is one of the best?

Problem with buying Witch Queen is it’s a good campaign but you won’t get the current live game so that’s going to be largely it - you won’t get all the current material.

Lightfall is still a decent campaign and gives you the current season so I’d got for that and if you get back into it pick up Witch Queen later.

I've bought it now. What do you mean by 'the current material'?

Should I play the Witch Queen campaign anyway and then get lightfall with the current season if I enjoy it?

I'm a bit confused as to how the seasons work in the game? They're separate to the campaign?

Defiant Battlegrounds mostly and the newer nightfalls and strikes and weapon quests.

I'd play With Queen cosmit sets up the Lightfall story and is way better campaign and a great World.

How’s everyone finding the new raid? Taking a break after stopping at the 3rd encounter but so far, only 2 people are ever doing anything? Not a fan of raids like that, I need the entire team to suffer obscure/unreliable mechanics!

We're at number 2 (solved, but not executed) and yeah it's definitely much simpler so far. I don't know that it's "only 2 people are doing anything" though, because actually in the this getting the cadence and priority of add clearing is key critical work.

When they burn through the content because it's literally the only game they play for hours every day and then piss and moan about it. Vocal minority bollocks.

Speaking of moaning, the difficulty of shit on Neomuna can do one. Tried to do the vex incursion event numerous times and getting one shot isn't fun. I'll go back when I'm closer to 1810.

So I got lightfall in the end and started it. Will go back to Witch Queen after if I’m still loving it.

is there an Rllmuk clan that somebody could invite me to? Would be up for playing some strikes and maybe even getting in on some noob raid action at some point. Did lots of strikes back in the day but never actually taken part in a raid. X.

I have a "quest" to do now to open the two chests at the end of one of those incursions. Before I had the quest I just happened across it multiple times and everyone completed it no bother, but now it seems harder than ever, always run out of time on the last bit. I am not sure if they have made it harder since I last did it, or it was just "luck" we did it the times before.

I had a similar experience, now I'd say you need at least 3 or 4 people to do it, even a regular public event is very hard to do solo compared to other planets.

There's lots of little things I'm coming across on Neomuna, one was about a signal being pinged another was glowing crux type things to collect

The masochist in me enjoys going around a corner and seeing everyone get fucked in things like the Terminal Overload event. I just go along with it now.

We completed the raid last night (shortly after Contest mode expired, due to having gotten stupidly stuck on a mechanic in the 3rd encounter and doing it properly blind.)

It's a fun raid, overall, I think. It's going to be very very quick to run in a normal week, just one to absolutely blast through. That's a fun gear change! Vow is a bit of a slow trudge at times.

And the aesthetics are cool.

It definitely does have more capacity for people to just do add clear roles than some recent ones (although that's true of Vow too in pretty much every encounter) but the mechanics are all nice and easy to hold in your head without a crib sheet, so that's good.

I was slightly irritated to discover last night that you have 10 load out slots in this, but you have to unlock the last four by getting to rank seven. The load out slots seem great, but to get to rank 7, you have to complete a lost sector on legendary difficulty, solo, without dying. Given the big boosts in difficulty this expansion, this seems like a pretty significant challenge, and seems like quite a big hoop to jump through to get access to more load out slots.

The difficulty in Lightfall seems to be all over the place. The raid is (apparently) relatively easy, but public events and in Neomuna are really hard.

Don’t need to get to rank 7, just gotta do a solo undefeated LS for the slots I think. One day it’ll rotate to a super easy LS, where you just stand all the way back and tickle everything (e.g. on the EDZ or Dreaming City, never on the newer planets).
