Destiny 2: Lightfall

Seems like. A few chums dipped their toe back in with beyond light, but no season pass (yet...maybe) and they have remarkably little to do. 

 

The intro/explanation is really not designed for returning players. Confusing as f.

I think the only way to get the content for seasons 12-14 now is to buy the deluxe edition of Beyond Light…otherwise you are stuck with the basic content and whatever season 15 adds if you buy it

So after a few years absence (only bought/paid for base Destiny 2 then left before the first major expansion) I decided to have a go at a strike for old times sake and long story short I now have the deluxe version and all the expansions/seasons that are still available. Man the gunplay is still so much fun and having it on PC doing 144fps is so crispy.

 

Anyway, I see a few old people from the clan on but I can't for the life of me find a way to ping them a quick message to see if they want to do a dungeon or nightfall...  is there a way to communicate with console players from PC? Is there a Destiny group on the RLLMUK Discord?

Ah Weavus, good to see you back mate. Still most famous for dropping a completely unannounced titan bubble right in front of everyone (inc. my golden gun) at the end of our first ever Kings Fall completion. I'll never forget the swearing. 

 

The easiest way now is to send a Bungie friend request. With cross play live, they now show up in the Destiny roster menu in-game and you can invite them in.

For talk, we've been making PC lads use the Xbox app which comes installed with Windows for xbox x chat. PS users can also use the xbox app on their phone/desktop but it takes a bit to fiddle with having both the game and talk sound on. Works great though, so much better than the in game chat.

It's not like we'd spent many days and about 8 hours straight that night trying to kill the boss at that point. Good times!

Well obv we can pop in to each others' games as we did the other day, but PS5 <> PC comms is the issue. There is a clan discord server I set up years ago but tbh we've never used it. As was said above, it'll be a bit shaky on PlayStation as you'd have to have comms through the computer and game audio through... whatever. But it'd be ok in a pinch I guess. I'll let you have the details.

 

Bungie intended to have in-game comms sorted for crossplay launch but had to pull it at the last minute. It's still supposed to come out this season, but I expect it'll be fairly poor quality compared to dedicated chat. Might still be preferable to having two separate devices providing audio though.

 

If it's just a NF or something though, next time I see you on we'll just chuck out an invite. I'll see if we can do discord but failing that we can just crack through the obvious/simple stuff anyway.

It was and fingers crossed they bring it back reworked next year. As much as I love Crota's End, think it would be disappointing to have a new version of such a short raid. Would make more sense to rework that as a three-man dungeon maybe and give Kings Fall a proper lick of paint. Oh the joy of reliving the panic of it being you that gets torn between dimensions.

I tried it the other week (and yes, it was Venus I went to first!) and I honestly thought either my my PS5 or my eyes were broken. The ubiquity of 60fps game since I got the new consoles has ruined everything that came before. I'm sure I would get used to it but it was a real ooof, we've come a looooong way moment.

Much easier for everyone to get something out of it. Think they said this approach will go to IB as well.

I hear the rewards for winning individual matches are great once you have 7 wins on your card, but you end up playing against gods every game.

 

I played for 3 hours last night and won a single match (got an enhancement prism and core at the end), I'm guessing this season you could build a new lighthouse from the Cosmodrome to the Hellmouth with the bones of solo queuers.

 

Still managed to get at least one of each trials weapon and a full set of armour for my hunter on the way.

Friendly notice that Servant Leader, the new Scout Rifle that drops from Gambit this season, is one of the best-feeling guns this game has ever put into our filthy little hands, and that's saying something.

 

I honestly couldn't get over how smooth it feels, especially with how shite scouts have generally been in D2 for the most part. But do yourself a favor and cop one.

Servant Leader is almost Randy's Throwing Knife reborn, I have some nice rolls on it (Outlaw/Rampage and Subsistence/Multikill Clip) but I'm still trying to get one with Rapid Hit and Kill Clip and put a Backup Mag on it to give it that Randy feeling

 

(My only complaint with it is it has one of those chevron sights)

 

Still double infamy until the weekly reset, so slap that Gambit Prosperity mod on your ghost and get ready for transmat!

I did the same with the exact same experience and outcome. Not worth it for one stick but I'm sure the PVP elites will enjoy a way to finally and reliably farm these materials.

Is Crucible cross play input regulated? Like do pad players only play against pad players?

Yep. For PvP, you can only play against PC players if you specifically invite, or are invited by, a PC player and then you only play in the PC pool of players. 
 

I don’t think there is a distinction between pad and K&M users on console but there never has been. 
 

I played some solo trials on Friday and won four games on the trot, thought we’ll, this is much more fun. Picked it up again Sunday afternoon and got absolutely annihilated game after game. So yeah, don’t play trials on a Sunday. 
 

I’m continually amazed at the speed at which the best PvP players can kill you. I even restarted my router as I assumed it was just down to lag. I mean, they appear on my screen and I’m dead in the time it takes me to half depress my right trigger.

Trials definitely needs stronger penalties for quitters.

 

A freelancer queue would be amazing since their matchmaking is still all to buggery.

Hey guys, after a few shite seasons of Cold War I decided to reinstall D2 and buy everything.

 

They have done well, loads of things to crack on with in game now, I have I think 3 story modes to get through (just killing Barons at the mo) inbetween Crucible which is still as fun as it is frustrating, caught the end of Iron Banner sadly, always enjoyed that and Gambit which is really good fun and where I seem to have gotten all my good loot from, but it seems capped at around the 1270 mark.

 

Anyone still about?

 

Wouldnt mind a Raid or two over a weekend?
