Destiny 2: Lightfall

Drop consistency, you so crazy  Not a whole lot was coming from strike playlists or public events recently, so out of desperation I tried the vanguard's heroic story mission and it gave me my first Crimson hand cannon at 642. I'm not really a massive hand cannon user but it's already very fun to use, and the burst at least compensates for my bad aim. :)

Manged to get 3 for Heroic Whisper at the weekend - then did the chests/Oracles and redid for Catalyst/Ship progress. It's such a lovely little atmospheric zone

And I got my Wayfarer title - no more hunting nodes on Mars :D

I'm still grinding for that last Braytech schematic. Had three drop weapons I already have. Heard that if you do the Nascent Dawn 1/5 quest with an alt character you get given one (you do) and that if you have the other weapons with you, you'll get one you don't already own (you don't).

Just need the Frigid Jackel and then it's the long grind for the six remaining Mercury weapons. But at least that's not RNG stacked on RNG unlike the nodes, and I'll probably still get it before I get the Dredgen and Cursebreaker titles.

FJ was what I was after (and I did Warmind on 2 alts while grinding). The Last Word quest was actually "helpful" in that I just ran the 2 Mars Lost Sectors to complete it and get Node Key Fragments.

Last Wish Blind Run Update! 3rd Boss Down

Not sure if we missed something - Eyes/Buffs/Traps seemed to spawn inconsistently on both sides. Not sure if there's a way to control that (we did 2 groups of 3 on either side. 2 of the 3 getting strengths up to 2, non str one to get buff/clense and then rolls switch)

But then we managed to kill it one DPS phase on our 5th or so attempt (we'd got through the phase a couple of times) - which is just as well as our interrupter this time (me) had died to the bolt barrage. Whisper is an absolute beast on the fight.

Then we got lost going to next encounter (there's some big doors around the area - we kept grouping up near them to open...nothing happened. Missed little corridor by Magic Eye picture.

Then got to 4th encounter. No idea what to do here. 3 people see 3 (different?) codes and we all get locked in before a knight kills us. A mystery for next week!

40 eggs done as well! Just the RNG Shell for Cursebreaker.

Last Wish is SO Good.

The Allegiance quest, previously forecast as the Joker’s Wild weekly quest, will invite you to choose between the Vanguard and the Drifter. Pick a side to progress through the quest from their perspective. This pledge is character based, so if you have more than one Guardian, you can play both sides. Choose wisely!

Invitations of the Nine, once upon a time referred to as Xûr Bounties, will be an exploration of the Nine and their mysterious place in the universe.

The path begins with Xûr on Friday, March 15. Annual Pass owners will be able to pick up an “Invitation of the Nine” from Xûr. Once the objectives are completed, it will transform into a bounty called “Into the Unknown.” These will be available to complete once per character, similar to the bounties you got at the beginning of Forsaken for completing an activity with a full gear set. Week over week, for Nine weeks, you’ll collect new lore and powerful rewards.

For Annual Pass holders, the rest of the Season of the Drifter packs in new combat specialties to embrace and new challenges to master. Like Season of the Forge, this journey will roll out over time, but the Drifter has plenty of action for players to experience on day one. If you think your Power is low and you want to get caught up to the rest of the community, see the Drifter to complete his new Power Surge Bounties. There are enough of them to bring your level-50 characters up to 640 Power.

The armour and the guns look hideous.

I dropped onto Gambit last night as I figured I should spend some time at least flipping over Gambit this season but ended up in two games against clans and it went like this:

First Game: Round one - Our team 11 motes v Primeval defeated

First Game: Round two - Our team 27 motes v Primeval defeated

Second Game: Round one - Our team 65 motes v Primeval defeated

Second Game: Round two - Our team 30 motes v Primeval defeated

Surely it must get boring if your clan team is constantly wiping the floors with other teams. You have every spawn point locked down, you have the right equipment to melt the primeval and you are working in a way that the other team is putting in 11 MOTES!!

I imagine it'd feel rather wonderful. Isn't that every PvPer's dream? - to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their women?

Possibly. The last time I played in my clan in PvP we won four matches easily and I dropped out cause I prefer to be challenged not wipe the floor with people.

Ah, that’s good news. I like what they’re saying about the new stuff but it really does come down to how much less annoying they’ve managed to make Gambit. Prime being one round and alternated with PvE stuff will deaden the pain somewhat but if it’s still hateful I won’t stick around for long.

I actually don't like the idea of them selling Forsaken exotics yet, and never understood the clamour for it.

The Forsaken exotics aren't just something for September or October - by and large, the are the exotics for Year 2 of Destiny 2. That spans until next September.

Sure, the Annual Pass is adding a few others, but the Forsaken content is the bulk of Y2. They aren't something you should amass quickly. I've been playing fairly steadily since launch and have all but one of the Forsaken Hunter exotics. I started playing my Warlock recently and got one piece the other day. They feel rare and, well, exotic again, after Vanilla D2 gave them away constantly.

I don't like the idea of just walking up to a weekly vendor and buying an exotic (or two, or four) each week.

I used Xur to catch up on old exotics I missed, having not got Warmind and Osiris until Forsaken launched. I would rather current exotics come from gameplay, not a vendor, and the vendor used for those who want to catch up.

I have every Forsaken exotic as well as the black armoury ones. For every class I should add. I'm pretty lucky in Destiny 2, as I'm sure most people probably know by now, but I dont think they should be as rare to obtain as they can be for a lot of players. Also, its been nearly 6 months, I think its fine for him to be selling the damn things now.

Xur wont be stocking the new exotics all in one go anyway - it'll likely be one new one a week, if that, as its entirely random what he sells (apparently). After all, his will is not his own.

They're also changing armour rolls in the patch. So sets won't be locked to being mobility, resilience or restorative focussed anymore, you could roll a vanguard arms with mobility and a vanguard arms with resilience.

This was my pet peeve back at the start of Forsaken. Why they didnt just do what they did with year 1 armour, and allow us to reroll the stat using masterwork cores baffles me.

Whatever, I'll take it, but its a bit shit that its only on year 2 armour. Its like they know the loot pool is so shallow and this is just a quick fix.

Yeah they need to basically make Year 1 stuff relevant again. It's odd that they won't take the effort to basically double their loot pool and weapons.

I really like the Leviathan raid armour, it's design and colour scheme. But there's no point using it, so I might as well just stick the shader on Y2 stuff.

I've always thought Destiny had the potential to be a great "armour game" but they sort of neglect that side of it. It needs to be more like Monster Hunter, which has you actively grinding to get stuff that looks cool or infers certain bonuses.

Gambit armour having perks for gambit next season is a definite start. They need to do it for Strikes and Raids too.

It's not so much that Destiny has the potential to be a 'great armour game' that has good-looking armour that confers bonuses. It's that it used to have exactly that in D1, in the form of raid armour with raid perks. I still have no idea why they took the decision to remove that aspect of raid rewards, or many other facets of the PvE game, for D2. It's not as if raid perks (or more general PvE perks like Fallen dropping extra heavy) would have impacted the 'balance' they were supposedly going for in D2 PvP. Which makes it especially weird that they'd start reintroducing the same concept in a PvE activity that does directly impact competitive play and give advantages in it, but not in PvE. (Regardless of the fact that's your fighting mobs in Gambit a lot of the time, it's clearly a competitive activity.)

Not so sure that specific Strike armour perks are really a thing you need. Except in the case of Exodus Down - a helmet that prevents Thaviks the Fuckhead from teleporting would probably be the most sought-after item in the game.

Strike armour isn't really a thing we need - they are more than doable already - but if they wanted to push the scoring aspect further, then they could create Strike-focused sets that conference bonuses which could be a consideration when you push for a Nightfall high score.

Problem is, the Nightfall high score as if is now is pretty meaningless. The Nightfall itself isn't really that important by itself anymore, as you have so many other avenues for powerful gear.

Whisper of the Worm - Reduced ammo reserves (from max 20 to max 9 without armor perks)

U fucking wot m8?

Seriously though, thats an extreme nerf to a gun that takes up both an exotic slot and a heavy. Its not like sniper ammo reserves are common on armour either. Scourge last boss just got a lot harder with that one change. Not a fan of the machine gun changes either considering I use Thunderlord a lot. Guess Wardcliff will be the new meta for pve as well as pvp now. Way to change things up Bungle.
