Crimson Days is coming soon. It was originally scheduled to start on February 5. That date is being shifted slightly. Grab your partner and get ready for action and rewards.

Crimson Days

Begins: February 12, 2019

Ends: February 19, 2019

If you missed out on Crimsons Days last year, or didn’t get everything you wanted, you’re in luck. This is your chance to get the rewards exclusive to this event. The event is very similar to last year, but we have added a few new rewards and ways of obtaining them. We’ll give you the full details closer to the special day.

They're changing the way bounties (and raid keys and the like) work. Dont bother hoarding them for a nice power boost next season!

Quote

Starting with Season of the Drifter, we’re making a slight change to the way bounties grant powerful rewards. To ensure an even playing field each time we kick off a new season, bounties acquired during previous seasons will have a maximum possible power reward. This change is intended to prevent players from feeling the need to hoard bounties and raid keys that grant powerful rewards until the Power cap is raised in an attempt to get a leg up in the push toward the new Power cap.

Example:

A player has completed the “WANTED: SILENT FANG” bounty during the Season of the Forge, but has not yet claimed the reward.

If they claim this reward after the Season of the Drifter has begun, the reward will have a maximum Power of 650.

If they instead acquire this bounty after the Season of the Drifter has already begun, the reward will have a maximum Power of 700.

The cap is applied to bounties on acquisition.

NOTE: Completed bounties have no mechanism to “dismantle,” so keeping completed bounties could negatively affect players for the first week of a new season. By holding on to the old bounties, this locks players out of an “uncapped” bounty that could become available with the start of a new season.

We strongly recommend either completing or discarding any powerful rewards bounties before the new season begins. Completing these bounties after the season changes could result in missing out on the new season’s version of the bounty with the higher Power cap.

We are also looking to address stockpiles of Raid Keys as well. We are currently finalizing details, and will give additional information when available.

This is obviously a response to some people complaining it was too easy to get to max power this season compared to Forsaken's launch (Well, duh! Only 50 power isnt a lot).

Next Tuesday, January 29, Destiny 2 Update 2.1.4 will become available to players. This update marks the arrival of the Exotic quest, “The Draw”. Y'know, that hand cannon.

Also, MOTW

It doesn't matter really - we'll all be playing Anthem by then anyway!

I suspect it wont be as bad as D1's version (the poison), as Le Monarque has the same sort of effect and its utter pants - you need a precision hit for it to trigger, so maybe Thorn will be the same. At least then it will require a bit of skill to get kills unlike in D1 where body shots did the job.

Sort of don't know how I feel about all this to be honest. I'd rather have new weapons, or at least new weapons like Le Monarque that remind you of old ones. I find the whole 'Destiny 1 guys, amirite' aspect of the D2 repair job to be a little lazy, especially after all the hay they made about us losing everything in the transition. And I say that as a partially reformed Thorn scrub.

Will get it regardless, of course. If I get lucky with drops this week I should hit 650 on at least one character which, remarkably, will be the first time I've hit the power cap in Destiny 2.

Gladd's lot just two-manned the whole of Scourge of the Past. But surely you can't two-man the first encounter? Hold my beer.

They also recently reclaimed the world record for speed running Scourge with a completion in under 8 minutes.

Mental. Thrilling, but mental all the same.

Whisper quest available every day from now on:

Guessing you'll still have to wait a week to do the echoes part each time though.

Also from the patch notes:
Quote

Fixed an issue where players could equip Celestial Nighthawk mid-Super to partially benefit from "Hawkeye Hack" perk when using the Six-Shooter subclass

So nope, wont work with Celestial Nighthawk anymore.

Bungie has a real fucking hard on for Hand Cannons don't they?

Every single big exotic quest seems to be for a hand cannon. I think they are great but couldn't it be for a new weapon rather than revamping old guns from D1.

And don't get me started on how the guns from D1 just disappeared. Made no bloody sense at all.

Well I’ve done my crucible milestone for the first time since Mayhem was up last and my Last Word quest tracker is at 25% I may be some time.

My first (non-Mayhem) attempt looked like this within 2 minutes of a Quickplay match. My team looked like this for the rest of the match, with people insta-joining-quitting.

The 5 stack on the other team were all rocking Luna's, naturally. Ended that match at 4%. Decided to get on with more important real life stuff for a bit, then I watched Gigs' stream, it really does look like a glorious return to form. I want it more than the most entitled redditor you've ever witnessed*.

It's my own fault for not playing PvP for months, of course. @Nate Dogg III carry, plz. Will paypal.

*A similar post will probably have 5k upvotes by the time I wake up in the morning.

I'd like to see a graph plotting your % quest gains and losses against the number of games played, with the gametype in a pivot table or something else spreadsheet-related so I can narrate key stats in a very fast series of words into a podcast for my many followers and I'll also need a good thumbnail plz so make sure you crack a pose or two when you complete the +ve matches.

Could make a good regular series? We could play the sympathy YouTube likes angle? If you play badly enough we might get a few weeks out of this content. It'll be a decent testing ground for our Gambit Expansion content creation plan.

I'm on 90% after playing a few non-Mayhem matches. Luna's Howl + Dust Rock Blues + OEM = Titan EZmode. Still amazed its not been nerfed yet. My perks are garbo (no primary targetting perks), but its still ridiculous.

If you're a hunter, then Mayhem + Shards is probably the way to go. Sadly for Titans its not, and now Nova Warps been nerfed through the floor, Warlocks are in the same boat. Play normal Crucible, your % will go up far quicker, and easier.

I actually quite liked the quest - decent mix of activities and a fun final act.

I know people will moan about the PvP part but it’s a gun that has always shone in that game mode so it stands to reason they might make you jump in the crucible and work a bit to acquire it. I thought the more grindy ‘do X amount of this thing’ were the worst bits.

Hopefully will get a chance to use it in crucible this evening.

Last night was made doubly rewarding when I finally got one eyed mask to drop at the end of a match (albeit with terrible perks).

Yeah I see loads of people with great perks on it, but I'm lumbered with heavy lifting, linear fusion and fusion rifle targeting. Would possibly be good in err Gambit? If I ever played it anymore, and if I ever invaded, which I rarely did.

Its still ridiculous in PvP. Its just a bit harder to hit targets due to no aim assist on the thing.

I got the Last Word myself, and yeah the pvp parts werent that bad. Just dont go in Mayhem for the kills part. Save Mayhem for the medals bit - got that bit done fairly quickly, with the pve bits taking the longest (3x Witches ritual again?!? :hmm:).

Snuck in a few quick matches before work and finished it off. Tactic was to dig Vigilance Wing out of collections, play as smart as my feeble PvP brain would allow, and quit the fuck out of any matches on a map I didn't know well. I think this is the right time to do it; I assume all the Luna's tryhards got their quest step done yesterday, and right now all the UK kids are at school and the US lot are mostly asleep. Just me and the unemployed, as it should be.

I totally get that TLW is a PvP weapon and as such its quest needs a Crucible component. And I remember doing the final part of the Thorn quest with Atheon's Epilogue. I just find the very concept of negative progression to run completely counter to the appeal of a game like Destiny. Progression can be upwards or sideways, or frustratingly static (I got bad luck with Dreaming City milestones last night which means 649 is the best I can hope for this week), but you should never be able to go backwards.

Particularly in a game mode that can so frequently conspire against you. There are so many things that can just kill you in Crucible, and while I am normally happy enough to just embrace the madness, structuring a quest like this means that every panic Blade Barrage, every Slowva Bomb that suddenly starts tracking you instead of a teammate and chases you halfway across the map, every shotgun slide round a corner, every Colony projectile after a shot that misses you by a mile, every etc and so on... can result in you going backwards.

I don't mind being asked to go outside my comfort zone. And I don't mind being outplayed. But I do have a problem with negative progression being possible in a game mode that's built on, and so chock full of, so much absolute bullshit.

Yesterday's patch seems to have broken Black Armory frame item drops.

I need 25 Radiolarian things from Vex for the bow frame and they aren't dropping them. There's loads of posts on Bungie forums about similar items for different frames not dropping too.

le sigh....

This seems to have righted itself once I deleted the frame in inventory and bought a new one.

Just gonna walk back everything I said earlier. FIFTEEN Lost Sector clears? Are they having a bubble?

Yeah that’s one of the grindy bits I was talking about. Totally made up number to string things out. Quickest way I found was to run through the one on Titan on the rig (near where the witches ritual also spawns).
