Destiny 2: Lightfall

I think it could do with coming down a bit honestly. It’s kinda crazy.

I’m mostly in it for the throwing knives honestly. So satisfying. The game needs more of that sort of constant uptime playstyle. I often think of the D1 Stormcaller that had that ‘grenade kill refills melee charge, melee kill refills grenade charge’, it was so much fun and I’d love to see more of it.

Nah. Blade Barrage is great fun is PVE, and doesn't hurt the game at all. That and the nerf to pole dancer are completely unnecessary in PVE. They don't spoil any proper hard PVE activity and the nerfs just make those subclasses less fun to play and your team less powerful. The only justification is to appease some PvP whingers and if Bungie decoupled the two modes it'd be fine. If they keep doing this, fuck PvP. I mean, who doesn't want their team to wreck the hard content in the actual game? It's hardly like BB solves puzzles, works out tactics, or one-shots raid or dungeon bosses.

Kinda crazy is exactly what we should be getting - that feeling of power that doesn't break the game but gives you moments in the fight when you feel actually super. Keep this up and you might as well take a few exotics out of the mix as well, and return us to vanilla D2. Big mistake.

But thats what the spec is. Even the super has that where it gives you some of your super back depending on how many enemies you hit with it. I dont get why you think it needs toning down. Is it a PvP thing? Its not that big a deal there, with Spectral Blades being a bigger issue due to the length of the super, as is Nova Warp (which is getting the nerf bat too, but that one is justified).

The self damage change is what I find the most stupid. Its literally Warlocks complaining that has made this happen - "My own Nova Bomb can kill me, so why cant Blade Barrage do the same thing?"

I've read that so many times on reddit and bungie's official forums, and I cant see any other reasoning behind the change. Its idiotic.

Which is getting nerfed next patch.

Yes, it really is. Dont ask why

If they nerf Blade Barrage without nerfing Stormcaller or Nova Warp then they have their heads up their arse.

Blade Barrage is a one off attack in front of you. Both Stormcaller and Nova Warp can nearly go round most maps and kill every single player in the other team. I watched a guy get about nine kills with Nova Warp once. Blade Barrage shouldn't be getting nerfed in the slightest.

The self-danage seems to be to stop people popping off Blade Barrage when surprised at close corners.

The problem is, this is invariably a massive waste. I've done it more than a few times in PVP in a desperate attempt to stay alive, but you usually only get one kill. It's much better to use it with some semblance of foresight and planning.

I do think it gets a lot of unjustified complaining against it and, yeah, it often seems to be from the other two classes. It's powerful and can be triggered without much warning. But it's offset by being over in a second.

Titan Hammers and Titan Smash are more deadly, as they can tank damage and move through a team. And Nova Warp is ridiculously powerful.

Titan Smash is obscene in PvP. I played one game of Iron Banner this week and decided it wasn't for me. Just hellish and not much fun at all.

It's an obscene win button with seemingly no counter or drop off?

Sayeth the Nova Warp Warlock with Jotunn ;)
Last night I saw Nova Warp Warlocks kill entire teams, then make it back to where they were respawning to kill them again with a single super.

I'm not saying that Stabby Hunters can't do the same thing (I assume; haven't tried), but to claim that Blade Barrage is more of an issue than practically unkillable roaming supers is nonsense. Re-institute energy weapons being Super killers, then we'll talk.

Just decouple PvP for Christ's sake. It'd be a massive error to impact the power people can feel in PvE for the sake of chasing the uncatchable PvP phantom called 'balance'. They've been down that road before and it didn't end well.

Edit: Of course, they'll never do that, as the evolution of hybrid game types like Gambit (and some others rumoured to come) show. I totally get their philosophy there, but the effects on PvE activities of nerfs clearly derived from the complaints of PvP players and Bungie's supposed desire for a level playing field just restricts them in so many ways.

Um they are? But it just might take 2 of you to kill. So don't engage at range.

Or run when you hear nova coming (split up!)

There's nothing you can do about Blade Barrage. 1 of you. 6 of you. Whatever range/layout. Cus a Bungie's Pet Hunter pressed his "I win" button :P

And don't even get me started on Nightstalkers.

If your entire 6-person team is taken out by a single Blade Barrage, you done fucked up somewhere.

Ditto to Nova Warp :P

But seriously. Competitive. How did Bungie ever think this would be... "a thing"?

I'd stayed away due to assuming it was high end PvPers that would stomp me...but it's not? In fact (on average) you seem to get worst teams than in Quickplay?

It's just different...not better/harder.

The Glory thing is bobbins though. Given all the match making problems (and general unbalance of classes) - seeing your glory go down because you were matched with Bobby the Level 6 in his first Crucible game. It turns what could be a nice chuckle "Oh we got absolutely stomped there" into something much more annoying. (Trying to get to Fabled with @Kauwiks for Luna)

Countdown is a horrible game mode that should be deleted though :)

I've been thinking about giving this another shot, seeing as I already own Forsaken, but I'm a bit lost at the moment. I finished the Osiris campaign a while ago and was going to jump straight into Warmind, but it turned out that I was massively under-levelled and under-powered. I started a few runs into the Infinite Forest and slowly started to creep up, but I got bored after a while and started playing something else.

Is there some quick way to progress in between the two expansions that I've missed, or do you just have to grind your way there?

If you're just wanting to play each story/campaign, then go straight to the next one, there will likely be little gaps of power between them. Because just playing the campaign isn't going to take you to what was max power level at the time that DLC was current. So I'd say you're going to have to play content other than just the campaigns - strikes, all the other stuff that comes in the milestones/challenges/bounties etc. It shouldn't take too long to get to level for Forsaken though, given that anyone under PL 600 (?) gets far more generous powerful drops and prime engrams.

You should have got a 'spark of light' with your copy of Forsaken. Go to the character select screen and hover over your character (see useless red circle below). You should be able to press square to skip all the Warmind stuff and it will take you to the beginning of the Forsaken campaign and level you to 500. All the various Warmind quests will be available from the Tower and you get some free engrams from Tess with various Warmind ships and armour and stuff.

Obviously if you WANT to do the Warmind campaign then you'll need to do the weekly stuff to level up but honestly, you're not missing much with the Warmind campaign. It lasts about an hour and you'll likely do all the missions and strikes as part of the powerful engram challenges anyway. Forsaken campaign is significantly more fun, I'd just go straight to that.

I thought the Spark of Light stopped you from playing the Vaillian, CoO, and Warmind campaigns (effectively flagging you as having "completed" them )

You're not missing much in either campaign though

Although you can still replay when they're the daily heroic story etc

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't clear there. it skips all campaign missions before Forsaken and marks them as complete.  You'll be lvl 30, Power 500 and ready to jump in to Forsaken.

When I say 'quests', I mean the post-campaign exotic quests from Warmind like Sleeper, Polaris, etc and the Braytech stuff. Basically you won't miss out on any 'gear' from Warmind so don't worry.

So none of my team can do the super hard version of the Pyrmidion (spe) because none of them have completed the next step of the mysterious box.

I did the Shattered Throne section but I can't continue until they catch up. I've tried it five time on my own and just can't beat the end guy and you get booted the moment you die.

It's shit and I've pretty much stopped playing Destiny because of it. Subnautica is fun. May go and complete Spider-Man finally.
