Grats on raid completion. We're stuck on the last encounter as well, and hoping to get it done tonight (fingers crossed).

 

Its murder mystery time tomorrow btw, in case people forgot. Don your Holmes caps and find out who killed Master Ives (I think thats who the victim is anyway).

 

Rumours going about we may get to go back to the Cosmodrome for this, as well as get a cerain exotic power weapon - "They rest quiet on fields afar...for this is no ending, but the eye." :D

 

Bonus Gambit lolapalooza:

Imagine that happening when an invader is on the field and you have motes to bank :lol:

I'm grinding out Luna's Howl as well.  If you have space ping me an invite, I'm at about 1200ish I think, having had a truly miserable run at the weekend.

Forgot to ask this, but I assume that means you have Luna's Howl. It is 2100 right? Are you going for Not Forgotten as well?

It's 2100, yeah. I don't have it yet because I'm on one of the earlier steps but it doesn't matter if you get to 2100 before you've unlocked that step, as long as you finish it in the same season that you reached 2100. I took a break from competitive once I hit it but I'll probably try to bang the last steps out over the next couple of days now. 

 

Not sure if I'll bother going for Not Forgotten, really. Although I did it pretty quickly, getting to 2100 solo was a bit of a slog. I'll see if I can be bothered I guess.

Ah good to know. I'm on the solar kills part myself, but I'm solar spec anyway and can get the kills via grenades or whatever. Rather use my Bygones for the range until I hit Fabled.

 

I wont be going for Not Forgotten, as its far too frustrating just getting Lunas. Hopefully I can get it before season ends. Good luck if you decide on going for Legend, especially solo.

 

Edit: speaking of Comp, look what was put back into the playlist, and is being immediately removed again...

Almost as if they didnt fix it. Played a few games of Breakthrough last night on Bannerfall and won pretty easily, but can see why its being removed. No actual incentive to get the middle point, other than being able to push for the opposing teams vault is pretty shit. Should award you a point or something for capping the middle at least, as if the defending team turtles they win by default.

Destiny on PC has higher frame rate, faster loading times, interface is easier to navigate, player population is less toxic, discorc communities are the dog's bollocks, has clan chat in game, location based chat in game, and it is 100% cheaper than on console. Do yourselves a favour and start over!

This, combined with the new campaign to convince players to invite new players on board, makes me worry a bit for the long-term future of Destiny. Neither thing feels like something a hugely successful game would be doing.

I wouldn't mind the game going free to play at some point after development finishes. The game is in such a great state at the moment. I kind of wish more of my friends had it or played it. Wow is free as well up to a point.

The worry I would have, if this indeed a response to worryingly low player numbers/engagement, is that they've put vanilla D2 for free on PS Plus, and vanilla D2 for free on PC. And vanilla D2 is the version that was bad and drove all the users away in the first place.

 

Forsaken is probably up there with the best Destiny has been, and maybe Activision need to eat some short term profits and put that version into people's hands with some sort of on-boarding process. Putting vanilla D2 more widely just seems like a way to have more people decide Destiny isn't for them.

While Year 1 was pretty dire in the moment, I'm more inclined to think that it was down to how the weapon loadouts were handled, exotics were quite anemic to use and the events leading up to Warmind was rubbish - which was a pretty long time from the original console launch. Red War, post-campaign Adventures, Crucible and Leviathan for new players is still a good timesink for a weekend.

Offering a free copy of the game which comes with both the design flaws mentioned above being sorted out, while offering an expansion that's actually decent isn't the worst decision in the world. It's just that the well's already poisoned with multiple accounts that Year 1 was shit pre-Warmind, and that funk can't come out of the wash when you're hitting up Youtube to find out if a game's worth your time.

OTOH, I only considered going back to The Division when Ubi just thought 'fuck it' and dropped all the Year 2 content in a free patch. Offering CoO and Warmind would have sweetened the deal, but... Well, the actual DLC campaigns were bobbins. The real turnaround to Destiny 2 happened with the Exotic revamp, Heroic and Nightfall rework, and the weekly quest progression. And that stuff is just ingrained in the base game, effectively.

It does have the new weapon system and bounties and thriumps and beefed up year one exotic and faster crucible. Not sure if it has random rolls. Hopefully it is enough to make a good first impression. The campaign was not really what people complained about at the time. Pity they cannot see the dreaming city which is the absolute dog's bollocks.

How much are you supposed to just arse about in the hub levels fighting the occasional waves of enemies with other people and doing public events?

 

I put this on 2 1/2 hours ago to try the campaign and have done little else since yer woman at the farm told me to speak to... Peter Kay? My Borderlands loot feeling is tingling.
