It's funny, isn't it, that dividing line between convincing mechanic and contrived gameshow.

Somehow the Templar, Atheon and Crota fights all feel "real" in a way some of the other encounters don't.

Yeah. The idea behind the Leviathan is quite a good one, and it would make sense to have these kinds of mechanics in an gladiatorial setting, but the actual execution is more like a gameshow, except that it’s a gameshow that nobody would ever watch or enjoy, i.e. that Jasper Carrott gameshow that you needed a postgraduate qualification in game theory to understand.

It’s like they rebooted Gladiators, with the people from Only Connect. The execution should have been a bit more like a gladiatorial arena, with maybe a bit at the end where you break out of the game structure, turn the tables on the Cabal, and rampage through the observation decks and depravity lounges.

Did a Nightfall last night with my clan and at the end was given a Queensbreaker rifle for my troubles. I was called a lot of names for that.

Now have all three characters up around the 585 mark and just trying to push them along to get one to 600 - albeit with RDR2 coming out this week that may be some time off.

I had an arc Titan invade and use his thundercrash on me, and yet spectacularly miss, earlier. I was too busy laughing to try to kill him, but my team descended on him so quick, once they realised he wasnt a threat, that it felt like he'd been jumped by the local bullies.

Wish I'd thought to record it, but I was being chased by a large pack of Cabal dogs at the time. He likely thought I was easy pickings. How wrong he was.

I use Sleeper for killing the Taken wizards and the boss. A good pulse burst knocks enemy players aim way off if they're using it to try to kill you. If I die to it, its usually after I've banked anyway, so meh.

A few weeks ago, we gave you a short preview of what to expect in Destiny 2 Update 2.0.5. This patch carries a range of updates and fixes, most with the goal of providing small quality-of-life improvements to Destiny 2: Forsaken. Below is a preview of some changes, from Trace Rifles to Exotics, and more.

General

  • Banshee-44 will accept up to 25 Gunsmith Materials at a time
  • Removing the hold time for the Spider’s material exchange interactions
  • Increasing stack size of Ghost Fragments from 10 to 20
  • Reduced shader dismantle time from 1 sec. to 0.25 secs

Exotic Duplicate Weighting

  • When you’re receiving an Exotic, we will take into account all Exotics you’ve found, and weight them against Exotics you have yet to acquire; this lowers the chances of receiving Exotics you already own
  • Exotics that you do not yet own will be individually weighted much higher than duplicate Exotics
  • When receiving duplicate Exotics, you will be more likely to earn armor pieces, as they have randomly rolled perks
  • Exotic quest weapons are being removed from the Exotic engram loot pool

Enhancement Cores

  • Masterwork Cores will be renamed Enhancement Cores
  • More sources will award Enhancement Cores; they will be added to Scrapper Bounties and six of the Spider's weekly bounties
  • Enhancement Cores will be more visible in the loot feed

Exotic Tuning

  • Wish-Ender
    • Increasing base damage
    • Fixing an issue where the Broadhead perk would not properly activate under certain circumstances, which would result in a loss of damage
  • Malfeasance
    • Increasing Explosive Shadow detonation damage
    • Increasing damage against Taken and invaders

Trace Rifles

  • Will spawn with 50 ammo in the Crucible
  • Will benefit from the following armor perks:
    • Auto Rifle Loader
    • Unflinching Auto Rifle Aim
    • Auto Rifle Targeting
    • Precision Weapon Targeting
    • Auto Rifle Dexterity

We have more in store. Stay tuned to @BungieHelp for updates. We plan to have patch notes for Update 2.0.5 available around 9 AM PDT on Tuesday, October 30.

Also, Gambit changes including increased infamy for the week the patch drops:

Quote

Double Infamy

Begins: 10 AM PDT October 30

Ends: 10 AM PDT November 2

Triple Infamy

Begins: 10 AM PDT November 2

Ends: 10 AM PDT November 6

Keep an eye out. Once Update 2.0.5 is live, Ascendant Primeval Servitor spawn rates will increase. Even though it’s not a full-curse week, you may find yourself eye to eye with that evil meatball during this event. Good luck in your hunt for Malfeasance.

Why don't they let you dismantle more than one shader at a time - dismantle the whole stack. Some i have so many but deleting others as I just don't want to sit there dismantling for ages? Am I missing something?

You can dismantle 5 at a time with the Cryptarch. Still not ideal but it’s better than deleting one at a time at least.

Competitive is still an utterly fucking miserable experience. Why do I always get put in with the numpties?

I cant help not knowing the maps for Countdown

Some good games tonight though. Thanks to Finite for pulling our fat out of the friar a few times too.

Also to Hobo for sticking with me for those earlier games too, fair play. Going in as even a 2 is miles better than solo queuing.

Haha, I posted that before we teamed up!

Always better in a fireteam and only ended up 40points less than I started with 3 hours ago which is a lot less than it was looking like earlier in the evening.

Thanks for the games and apart from trying to get that bloody raid done I’m kind of concentrating on Luna’s Howl now so hit me up if you need an FT.

Finally managed to have a go at Leviathan last night (I know, I know... But my Destiny 2 group did not carry over from D1).

The 3 of us who remain managed to get a PUG together with some really nice American guy who Sherpa'd us along.

First time for the other 5 fireteam members and 3 hours later we'd finished the thing. I really enjoyed it. I know it gets a bad rap in comparison to other raids but it's still a raid and that kind of gameplay is what I'd been missing.

Can't wait to work through the others and then eventually the Last Wish.

We were all in the mid 500s so we were never really in any danger of being wiped by Adds. It was only ever mechanics that took us down :)

If I had one to bring I would have. Trying to get Luna's howl solo is grim.

Something tells me we should make a team.

KartoffelKopf, myself and maybe Finite if he's still up for helping. There's your 4 right there.

What GP are you guys up to? I'm sitting around 1950 and this is part of the problem for me. When the guys I usually play with come in with me, they're getting brutalised because they have barely played competitive and have a low GP ranking.

I'm nowhere near that, as I've not played much competitive outside of doing the Redrix quest. I'm around 1300 or so I think. Dont know what the others are at.

Did you get to that solo? If so kudos, as thats not far off the 2100 needed.
