Destiny 2: Lightfall

Aye, let's just start nerfing all the guns again. I really hope they don't fuck any more weapons up because of people getting killed in PvP moaning about them. Either separate their performance more clearly in PvE and PvP, or just leave the frickin things alone. We just got out of the dullsville mess of D2 vanilla exotics, don't let's start rolling things back to that.

Did anything ever happen with that quest involving Cayde’s expired ramen coupon? It feels like something the community got wind of and then built up into something really amazing, but I was assuming that at least something would come out of it.

Dunno.

Didn't the daily clan bounties used to be worth 750 clan XP each? I could swear they were. Anyway, all the clan dailies now seem to be worth 1000 XP. That a sneaky change?

Alongside the power increases to some previously +1 powerful drops, the IB bounties, etc, Bungie obviously feel it's time to accelerate the journey of less active players to 600. I wonder if making the path to endgame less steep, and them dropping the cost of previous expansions will persuade many to buy Forsaken? With the relatively short timespan in which they've done this, I wonder if that indicates a disappointing sales performance for the expansion - anyone have an idea of how well it's done?

Just got a Crooked Fang with snapshot and box breathing, my first Forsaken weapon with the latter perk.

If Linears have been buffed a bit then might be worth using.

Theres a new exotic sparrow in the collections page which is likely the festival one, but no sign of the ships, so may be a bug its showing up early.

Yeah they’ve increased daily and reduced weekly xp

I have the dreaming city scout rifle. When’s the buff happening?

I got that a masterworked version of that last night and was, well, underwhelmed to say the least.

It seems to do little damage even with Dragonfly and Zen moment. It fires fast but I got mine dropped at 564 and used it for the NIghtfall and ended up sticking with Ace of Spades through the whole thing.

We had a brief time in the Haunted Forest earlier, and it seems like a fun temporary time. We cleared Branch 5 in both the normal and "firewalled" versions as a three-man team. There's a Triumph for getting to Branch 7, so I might have to work harder.

I really love the end surprise.

Turned in Amanda's first festival quest thing, and got a Fighting Lion and its catalyst. Not sure, but do you have to do her bounties to progress the catalyst, or any bounties?

It requires you to do a load of them apparently to get it fully masterworked.

Edit: The Nine Lives cat ghost shell makes a meow noise when you pull out your ghost!

Based on a quick game last night those celebrating Sleepers demise in Gambit were premature. It still wipes out a whole team with ease and I definitely wasn’t struggling for ammo.

I promise to use something else if I can get the Queensbreaker to drop.

We were raiding last night, and it felt harder to land headshots on bosses with it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they ended up deploying a slight nerf that impacted PVE much more than PVP (where you only really need the body shot, obvs.)

They should just ban it from Gambit, really. The PvEvP setup means that the usual limiters on its use (i.e. strictly rationing ammo in PvP situations) don’t apply. It wouldn’t be hard to do from an in-universe perspective – Gambit is pretty much a gameshow run by the Drifter for some hazy reason, and they could just have a cutscene with him saying “alright, alright, alright, I banned the Sleeper Simulant, brother, because it done fucked up the meta” – and then bring in a special, Gambit-tuned version in a couple of months to great fanfare.

I get that sleeper is annoying. I do think there will always be a gun that rises to the top in any mode though. Let's see how it pans out over the course of this week. Maybe I got lucky last night. I don't think banning it from the mode makes sense and would argue that players are getting better at countering it now (that charge time can be rough).

I saw this earlier, and thought it was quite interesting:

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-10-25-destiny-2-pc-datamined-dlc-details-unearthed

A Eurogamer article from a year ago on things that were datamined from the PC version of Destiny 2. The last paragraph is particularly interesting, as apparently dialogue relating to the death of Cayde was in the game from the start. Presumably this is from a completely different version of the story to the one in Forsaken, but it sounds like they’d had it planned for a long time (rather than it being a stunt in response to falling interest in the game, or a result of a falling-out with Nathan Fillion).

I'd kind of felt that the meta of invader-uses-Sleeper was starting to shift naturally anyway. Every Gambit match I've been in recently (as invader or invadee) had the invaded team tucking themselves away and the Invader having to get closer and engage more directly than sniping across the match.

I'm just salty that the sandbox part of Bungie continues to seem so driven by the noisy PvP whiners and doesn't always remember to pay enough attention to why these guns are great. I guess that's a reflection of their Halo/PvP heritage, but it's a little annoying when I could not give one shit about PvP and just want amazing guns to shoot at aliens with my friends.

I don't mind things being broken. I whinge in Crucible, but I appreciate the fact they've gone for making lots of things Overpowered, Broken yet fun/powerful feeling - seemingly not caring about balance.

It's just in Gambit 9 of 10 times there doesn't appear to be any point in taking something other than Sleeper.
