Destiny 2: Lightfall

They are bloody hard solo it should be said, I’m now 542 and have failed miserably at the last two weeks, although it’s the jumping puzzles that make it incredibly tough. I think I’d have probably eventually cleared last weeks if I’d managed to get more than 3 stabs at it from 2 hours of attempts at the leaping

Would it be too much to ask Bungie that you respawned at the fight if you make it through the frustrating platforming?

What am I missing in crucible?

Why does it feel like teams choose to lose till half way through then stomp you?

Possibly because teams who do extremely badly are more likely to have the worst-performing members drop out, who are then replaced with much more skilled players.

At last! This might finally explain why, when I solo queue, I get airlifted in as a reinforcement to so many badly-losing teams!

It really doesn't though, so I'm definitely going to have to say your theory isn't supported by the evidence. The evidence being a swimming pool I made out of my own salty tears, in which I bathe after every crushing defeat that would have been only marginally less complete had I not been inserted into dork squad charlie just before the mercy rule was invoked like some pound shop Rambo.

As hilarious as doing the Ascendent in a three was yesterday, just did it solo and it was the totally different but lovely, challenging, shit-your-pants experience. Also managed to get the 4 Knights needed for that bounty I've had sitting for ages too.

I’ll be damned if we’re gonna sit around and mope all day—Cayde woulda hated that. So let’s have some fun, huh? Put on this mask, and go show the bad guys they can’t keep us down.” —Amanda Holliday

Festival of the Lost begins for all players of Destiny 2 on Tuesday, October 16

No one has heard from Eva Levante since the City fell (Bet you Tess has murdered her and shoved her in a cupboard somewhere!). Shipwright Amanda Holliday has stepped up to raise everyone’s spirits. Thanks to her, the Tower is filled with merriment, as memories good and bittersweet fill our hearts.

New Triumphs will be available for you to earn, and Holliday will offer daily bounties that award Fragmented Souls. These items can be used to purchase Festival of the Lost masks, as well as the Horror Story Legendary Auto Rifle.

This year, Festival of the Lost brings more than just masks. For a limited time, all players of Destiny 2 are invited to the Haunted Forest. Guardians have been tasked with clearing out its ghouls and demons, which are spooking up a storm. You’ll have 15 minutes to dive as deep as you can into the Haunted Forest and clear out the Nightmares lying in wait. Be wary—the deeper you go, the more difficult your job will become. You can jump into the dark as a solo player, with a pre-made fireteam, or through matchmaking to join other Guardians in the fight.

Most players of Forsaken have already won justice for Cayde-6. But near the conclusion of Festival of the Lost, they'll be called once again to avenge a fallen friend. Master Ives has been struck down. Maybe someone wanted to settle an old score, or lost their temper when receiving an Edge Transit. Whatever provoked the wrongdoing, justice must be served. (Its obviously that Rahool guy, everyone knows he hates Ives guts! He calls him a "wretched clerk" in the tower for everyone to hear!).

This pursuit of Master Ives' killers will take place through a quest line, which adds an additional powerful reward for you to earn each week. The hunt begins on Tuesday, October 30.

Alongside the Festival of the Lost rewards from Amanda Holliday and the Festival of the Lost Triumphs, players will earn an Ephemeral Engram every time they fill their XP bar after achieving the max character level. Players will receive this engram in addition to the Steadfast Engram, which effectively awards players double Bright Engrams for the duration of Festival of the Lost. Players may also purchase Ephemeral Engrams from Tess Everis in the Tower, if they so choose.

Tess will also feature rewards from the Ephemeral Engram on the Bright Dust store throughout the event, for those wishing to purchase specific items directly.

Every Guardian is invited to shoot their way through the masquerade. Festival of the Lost begins on Tuesday, October 16, and concludes at 10 AM PST on Tuesday, November 6.

They said the event lasts several weeks, and you use bright dust for direct purchases.

And yeah they say the Bright Dust store....but we'll see! Cynical Hexx needs to be convinced!

That's rough. I suspect it's primarily about converting as many PS Plus players as possible, as there's too much of a financial barrier there as it stands. But that should have been pretty obvious six weeks ago, I'd have thought.

Still, Masterwork Cores! You can't put a price on them.

So anyway, hold on.

What have we got next week?

  • Iron Banner week
  • Double / Triple Valour week
  • 50/50 Malfeasance quest Gambit boss week
  • Shattered Throne week
  • The opening week of Festival of the Lost

Plus, this is the week I thought we'd finally have a full raid team together for several nights. Ha ha, as if that was ever going to work. Help. FFS Bungie, stahp!

If it also turns out to be the week that Strange Terrain is on the Nightfall rotation - yes, I am going for the Wayfarer badge - I'm going to have to delete the game for exceeding its statutory content limit.

Srsly tho they probably could do with a slightly more even pacing of content across their schedule.

Yep - that's the list :D

Of our old raid group 3 came back for Forsaken (and are having a great time). Another caved this morning.

A 5th is basically a near certainty now.

That new Titan arc subclass is fucking preposterous when paired with Insurmountable Skullfort. You get super energy for kills with the jump & slam attack, and Skullfort refills the ability meter if you get at least one kill with it. Kills with your super refill the slam attack too, so you can kill adds pretty much non-stop with it. Tougher enemies slow you down, but you can just use your super on them, and get your melee ability back at the same time.

Its fucking mental in Gambit, you can just plough through mobs.

It's pretty awesome, yeah. Skullfort's always been an Exotic that is great fun for "normal" content and doesn't quite do the job in an endgame activity (and it still doesn't) but I really love using it just running round in Strikes or Gambit or Patrols etc.

Ooh, Xûr has Synthoceps, which my Titan has been using ever since I picked them up from doing world events. Biotic Enhancements is really useful for punching things as a Striker, although I can't imagine being without the perk if I ever want to try a different exotic!

Just having a mess around the Whisper heroic mission for the chests and the synth-techno main theme remix in there is absolutely banging and the best thing about the game. Another example of Bungie gatekeeping the most premium content for the terminal-nothing-better-to-do.

The Ascendant Challenge is an absolutely perfect solo challenge at 540 light - I managed to do it on my second attempt (first time, I thought the challenge was just to kill the knights at the start), but I was in constant jeopardy throughout, and the combination of snipers taking potshots and you and knights snapping at your heels made me go a bit hysterical on a couple of occasions. Really impressive stuff - it's not just constant blasting, like Escalation Protocol or a strike, the mix of platforming, shooting and a ticking clock feels like a new archetype.
