Destiny 2: Lightfall

It's kind of nice to be playing Destiny wearing a ragged assortment of unmatched armour and random weapons because they've got the highest light, rather than in an absolutely pristine set of Reddit-approved masterworked gear. Currently got a bow in the primary and secondary slot - bows are great, but I am genuinely struggling to tell which is which.

Also, I like the way that you can read the collectible lore stuff in the companion app now. I haven't read any of it, and I doubt it'll be up there with the Taken King narrative or that one about the Vex simulating some scientists, but it's good that I don't have to read it in-game. You can read all the lore tabs from collected gear as well, although it's not divided up in a way that makes for easy reading or searching.

Destiny's back, isn't it. For now anyway.

Similarly, I woke up just before 6am and thought I can either get another hour's sleep ... or ... or ... I could get up now, and get some Destiny in before work.

I'm now level 50, almost 500 light, and have done the main story. Had to drag myself away to get to work in time. Destiny is indeed well and truly back. It feels like Destiny. :)

I liked the main story for Forsaken. It's a simple revenge tale, but I get the feeling that is just the foundation upon which they're building the rest of year 2. Will be interesting to see how the raid ties into everything. Also, @Gorf King, you are indeed correct, I'm loving the new environments (what little I glimpsed from the final story mission) - a much better aesthetic compared to the gaudy nonsense from the Leviathan.

Oh, I didn't know this. I have the app, will get to reading. :)

Thats the only melee I couldnt get, as its not very damaging on other players annoyingly.

I might have to get that shotgun out of the collections to try.

A lot of people are having issues with these 2 bounties btw, according to the bungie help forum, so its not just me. The good news is the weeklies, and doing the other clan bounty each day, will get me to the 5k for the engram, but its daft that I'm being limited (unless I can find a work around).

It's definitely a bit fussy. The Striker slam counts as Arc kills, but not the Pulse grenade.

Random thoughts:

- In trying to get hold of the complete Season 4 Crucible armor set, I dunked all my tokens into Shaxx. Didn't get the MARK, which is all i NEEDED, but the horned git did give me at least 3 Better Devils', complete with all the new rolls. Still looking for the Best Devils, but if anyone wants to get hold of a decent 500 hand cannon, that seems to be a good way of going about it.

- Stumbling into the Blind Well is awesome. Proper "what the hell is this and what do i do screw it I'll just start shooting things" Destiny moment.

- Gambit's great, but loadout matters so much. I went in with whatever blues/highest LL items I had on me at the time, but just wasn't doing anything worthwhle compared to when I had Sleeper Simulant on me. Can anyone confirm that light level matters in Gambit? I'm seeing mixed things.

- Still so, so much fresh meat in PS4 crucible. Love it. I'd love to see some breakdown of the player data after it went on PS+. Used to be you'd generally only see people at the highest light level there is - now, I'm seeing a lot more people who seem to have settled on 20/30 as their level cap.

Power level matters in Gambit against other players. Simulant is apparently super OP in Gambit at the moment (Can take out a fully overshielded invader with a single body shot)

Neither worked for me, and I had a nice spree using striker trying to get the damn bounties to progress in any way. I searched for anything to explain why its not working and someone mentioned wearing a different ghost shell of all things. I'll try that next, as ridiculous as it sounds.

Wait, so power matters against other players, but it doesn't matter against the AI in the same match?

I know we are in the honeymoon period but another morning on this and it feels like Destiny again, Gambit is great fun esp with a full fireteam but most importantly the game seems to have lots to do while chatting shit with chums - heck even crucible is ok as a distraction now :o

Just read on Eurogamer that the Gambit part of the Cayde-6 quest is the opposite of what the quest text implies.

Spoiler

"Get 5 invasion kills with a Hand Cannon in Gambit"

To me, that implies you invade, and kill the other team with a Hand Cannon.  EG are saying you kill the person invading your game.

True?

Any way I can get Masterwork Cores without finding gear with them inside and dismantling those? Without DLC. Thanks

My brother has just finished the base campaign and asked me the same question.

It doesn't seem like there is but given the new infusion system is so dependent on cores, I can't believe Bungie think that is a good idea??

Still a great roll though, especially if you never got Midnight Coup (sniff).

Just about out of powerful gear routes now - until I farm up armour sets and get powerful enough for higher Well tiers anyway. Be interesting to see how the game feels tonight after reset when there’s theoretically none of the major weekly stuff left to do.

Yeah it kinda sucks, I can only level up weapons to 3 before I need cores. And infusing costs 2 cores. So basically you're relying on extremely rare drops. I guess its fair enough as the game's moved onto DLC but for those with the base game only it makes it way too grindy. I'll just mop up the remaining quests and wait to do the Leviathan raid and then peace out probably. Still don't understand why they don't have matchmaking for the Heroic Quests, Nightfall etc. They have the tools to help solo players team up with each other but refuse to use them? Doesn't make any sense.

Been finishing more Adventures and quite a few of them are better than the main campaign missions. More interesting ideas and level design imo.

Same. Emptied about 1k of tokens into the horny faced twat and got about 5 of everything except the bloody cape.
