Clans Update
Since launch, 50% of you have hit max rank in your Clans each season. Going into Forsaken, there are two major things we wanted to improve with Clans:
      • Give you more reasons to play with your clanmates
      • Make clan perks more interesting

How you earn Clan XP is changing. When you start your journey in Forsaken, Hawthorne will have three daily bounties. They can be completed alone or with a Fireteam to grant a small amount of Clan XP. Once your character reaches level the new 50, Hawthorne will add three additional weekly bounties that grant larger amounts of Clan XP, but require you to fireteam up with your clanmates.

Here is a preview of the new clan perks for Season 4 that will be more impactful and worth the time it takes to achieve them.
      • Rank 3: Increased resilience when you’re in a fireteam with clanmates.
      • Rank 5: Grants a chance to receive additional Etheric and Baryon resources when collecting them in the Reef.
      • Rank 6:  The weekly clan milestone also grants a Masterwork Core.

Next weeks Crucible Labs looks like a blast! Literally:

Our next Crucible Labs will be the mode Scorched. This mode has a very deep, complex, and serious rule set:
      • You spawn with a Scorch Cannon
      • Everyone else spawns with a Scorch Cannon
      • You shoot each other with said Scorch Cannons
Seriously, that’s it.

Confirmed issues for the week leading up to Forsaken, starting on August 28:
      • Exotic weapons will lose their +5 Power mod in preparation for the Year 2 mod system, but Legendary weapons will not until September 4
      • Nightfall strikes will not have scoring until September 4
      • Some tooltips and item descriptions may reflect Year 2 item behavior, even if item functionality is not updated until September 4
      • Some tooltips and item descriptions may reflect Year 1 item behavior until September 4, even if item functionality has already been updated for Year 2
      • Year 2 weapon slots will be live for all players, which may cause some weapons in players’ inventories to go to their Postmaster
          • All players should ensure their Postmasters are clear by August 28 to prevent loss of items
          • Some Year 1 Power weapons which previously had an elemental attribute will become Kinetic for Year 2
          • The elemental attributes for a handful of targeted Year 1 weapons will be changed and locked to a specific attribute for Year 2
          • All other Year 1 Energy and Power weapons in players’ inventories will have their elemental attributes locked for Year 2

Few more things there, but I've copy and pasted the most relevant here. Some janky formatting aside that is.

Still no idea when the Cayde quest will become active, but most likely the week before Forsaken launches (28th), along with the weapon slot changes, TTK changes, etc.

Just discovered that someone has datamined the API for Forsaken that includes what elements will be on which weapons when pulled from collections!

This list is based on the assumption the API is 100% accurate and will continue to be accurate. This may not be the case and Bungie has yet to confirm or deny any of this other than the Ikelos weapons.

This list is quite long, so will be spoilered for length. I would suggest grabbing 3 of each weapon you want to take into Forsaken (one for each element) regardless of this list, just in case.

Crimson is heal and auto ammo back on precision hit kill. You literally have an unlimited ammo, healing hand cannon if you can hit your shots.

Which means a shotgun blinking scrub like you is shit out of luck with it :P

BTW, if you like shotguns get the tractor cannon Shimmster. You'll spaff your pants repeatedly in crucible using it.

Seems the new Redrix' Broadsword quest in Forsaken is making a fair few people angry at Bungie due to the amount of time it took to get Redrix' Claymore this season.

Currently, Redrix Claymore is a pulse rifle with a perk all its own called "Desperado" which increases the rate of fire on the gun while its other perk, Outlaw, is active. Thing is, the Broadsword, Season 4's version of the gun, has the same perks, yet is available via a quest rather than based on Glory rank, making it a hell of a lot easier to obtain.

Another case of people having put the effort in to obtain something they wanted, whereas post Forsaken anyone can get one if they do the quest (which is a loooooooong ass grind btw - worse than Shaxx's Crucible questline in D1 TTK). Also consider only 8,750 players obtained the gun this season, which is incredibly low considering how many currently play the game.

Quest steps below:

Step 1:
• In the Crucible. Defeat 200 opponents with Pulse Rifle final blows.

Step 2:
• Reach Valor Rank “Heroic”

Step 3:
• In the Crucible. Earn 75 Double Plays.

Step 4:
• In the Crucible. Defeat 150 opponents with precision final blows from any Pulse Rifle.

Step 5:
• In the Crucible, defeat 50 opponents with Arc final blows
• In the Crucible, defeat 50 opponents with Solar final blows
• In the Crucible, defeat 50 opponents with Void final blows

Step 6:
• Complete 25 Crucible matches in Quickplay (Rotators count)
• Complete 25 Crucible matches in Competitive
• Complete 25 Crucible matches in Rumble

Step 7:
• Complete 20 Crucible Bounties

Step 8:
• Reset your Valor rank 5 times within a single season

Step 9:
• Visit Lord Shaxx and claim your reward.

Anyone want to help me get my last Whisper Heroic complete today?

I'd give you a hand, but I have friends coming over fairly soon, so not sure how much I could help (jumping part maybe, if you havent already done that?)

Given that one of the quest steps is apparently to reset your Valour rank five times in a season, I’m not sure I’d agree with the statement that anyone can now get the new claymore equivalent. That sounds like a massive ball ache that not many people will bother with.

Further to the TWAB some players are peeved over Redrix Claymore being removed and that it was so difficult to get in Season 3.

Bungie have detailed the steps need to get the new Redrix Broadsword in season 4;

Step 5:

• In the Crucible, defeat 50 opponents with Solar final blows
• In the Crucible, defeat 50 opponents with Void final blows

Step 6:

• Complete 25 Crucible matches in Competitive
• Complete 25 Crucible matches in Rumble

• Complete 20 Crucible Bounties

Step 8:
• Reset your Valor rank 5 times within a single season

Step 9:
• Visit Lord Shaxx and claim your reward.

So your saying it’s Thorn for pros!? I’ll make a vid of it so you can see how it works in game m88888!

Pretty sure I have a tractor cannon, will check it out - I’m waiting for shotguns into the proper slot before my grand return, I’m doing pretty well in the fixed mode PvP these past couple of days :D

Valour will get bumps from ALL PvP activity in S4 including IB so it will be constantly ticking up every time you go on to the crucible. The triple points weekends also make it super easy , if you get a bit of a win streak bonus going you can rank up in 3 or 4 games.

So is it all just co op mainly? I really want to play the other stories but not if they're over too soon.

The campaign on on its own is brilliant, the rest of the game is aimed at a fire team and while there are loads of quests dotted around they are not as big or of similar quality to the initial game. You could play it but it’s fragmented and not how the game is meant to be played as elitist as the sounds, the DLC is frankly shite bar the end scrap of warmind IMO.

Others may say different and I was very harsh on Destiny 2 until recently but I always said the main campaign was brilliant and as good as many a stand-alone game I’ve played.

What’s the deal with Forsaken DLC, any need to go full idiot?

Just get the £35 version. The more expensive ones have the season pass for the next three bits of DLC but seeing as Bungie haven't elaborated on what exactly there are, other than they're definitely not storylines like previous DLC, it is better to play it safe until they give out more information.

Ahh so it’s not extra content alongside Forsaken but likely 3 shitty things like Osiris/Warmind?

The base game is currently £7.99 in Sainsbury's.

Is it worth that from a purely single player perspective? I dabbled with D1 and found it quite good fun.

Yes defintely yes it's awesome.
