1.2.3 drops on the 17th.

The 17th is pure shotgun boss week.

Call for EP farmers starts now. Must be available Tues-Fri, must understand the concept of the 0:00 reset, must be prepared to get their emblem into three digits. Two-hour slots available, usual shift rates apply.

Also, must be 420 LL minimum.

Also, must have all faction catalysts and at least three copies of all Escalation weapons anyway, and a hundred EP completions, and at least three of each of the EP cosmetics coloured in to match the relevant copy of the EP armour for each class which itself matches whichever faction won the rally last time.

Basically, must be Ben. Team of Bens requested.

That's just going to mean no-one else gets drops though. Might have to rethink this.

*laughs then cries into 3 of every EP weapon*

Make the nightmares stop! Booped and Bopped! Nooooooo!

Is it known that the Valor Triumph seems broken (or misnamed) at present?

It's called

Valor Fabled

And says

Reach Legend in Valor ranking in Season 3

But I have it as completed, although I'm only Fabled rank. Not sure if they've done a mistake there.

I don't know why they chose to call it Valor Fabled when you have to reach Legend (not Fabled), but I too am Fabled and it shows as 4/5, not completed. Dunno if you got lucky with a bug or something, but it's definitely Legend you have to reach:

I think there's something wrong with the API here for sure. The guy who does d2checklist.com just released an update for Triumphs, and it says this for me:

1453061109_ScreenShot2018-07-11at15_30_37.thumb.png.704b80b04dc7c98eda7e2038a658ce37.png

So that's complete at, er, 4 ranks out of 3 (you need 5 for Legend, of course). (Btw I got my post above wrong - I'm at Mythic, not Fabled, so 4/5.)

Then a guy on reddit says Bungie must've dropped the required rank to 3, because his official D2 app shows this:

8AH9zZi.jpg

But others in the thread - and I - have it still requiring rank 5*.

So yeah, there's something definitely dodgy going on in the code.

* Edit - I just signed out and back in to Bungie.net again, rather than just refreshing the page, and it shows completed now. Wonder if they have actually lowered the requirement without announcing it? Weird if so, as it still says you have to reach Legend, which is obviously rank 5.

Mine is exactly as you have it above, I'm definitely only Fabled (which means I need to level up twice for Legend) but I'm down as having completed the Triumph. And I logged out/in to double check.

Maybe they reduced it. That would be nice.

Yeah, I speculated on reddit that they might have always intended it to be rank 3 - hence the title being 'Valor Fabled' rather than 'Valor Legend', and the description rather than the title was in error, and they attached the rank requirement to the wrong part of the memo. And now they've corrected it but neglected to amend the description. Whatever, it certainly seems to be 3 across all the sites that use the API, so I think you're done.

Finally we know what the new Titan's void super is -

Sentinel: Code of the Commander

sentinel%20super.gif

I wonder where they got that idea from.....

BARRIER-FIELD.gif

Quote

Hitting an enemy with a Void ability will activate Controlled Demolition, which plants a detonator on them. Hitting them again will cause it to inflate then explode in a huge area and proccing Resupply, which heals you and your allies while also granting grenade energy. To speed things up a bit, your Tactical Strike melee ability will cause a Void explosion when it lands, setting off any nearby detonators. These detonators can land on other enemies, spreading them multiple times.

Titans who’ve missed the glory days of airtight bubbles being an invaluable part of any raid encounter my find new hope in Banner Shield, which could be the new PvE must-have. Activated by blocking during Sentinel Shield, Banner Shield will activate a huge barrier in front of you, protecting your fireteam from harm while letting them shoot through it, allowing them deal damage to raid bosses like Argos without having to worry about exploding harpies. Shooting through it also extends the duration of the super, making it a fantastic addition to any team who needs to plant their flag (or capture a control point) by any means necessary.

Taken from GameInformer here which showcases all of the new supers and abilities - https://www.gameinformer.com/index.php/exclusive-video/2018/07/11/an-in-depth-look-at-destiny-2-forsakens-new-supers-and-subclass-branches

TWAB deals mainly with the content of update 1.2.3, due Tuesday. The two main features are the introduction of bounties and prestige raid lairs. But they're also introducing changes to some of the Heroic Strike modifiers, which amount to nerfs (a mistake imo).

Quote
  • Blackout: We wanted to ensure that enemy melees are threatening, but this shouldn't dismiss a player’s Power progression or the stats they chose to invest in with their armor. As such, this modifier is changing somewhat: it still increases enemy melee damage significantly, but it’s now no longer a guarantee of players being defeated by a single melee from many enemies. Be careful, though! If you’re not at the recommended Power for the Heroic Strikes playlist, your enemies will be more powerful and pack a harder punch.
  • Grounded: There are many times players are considered "airborne" when they're not actually jumping. To account for that, we are reducing the damage threshold so players aren't punished for things outside of their control. Additionally, we’re looking to prevent players from falling to their demise from a height of 2 meters, just as they happen to land on a rock or some other small object.
  • Glass: This modifier reduces a Guardian’s shields and health while increasing recovery. We slightly reduced the impact of this modifier to better enable players to see the effects of their overall Power progression over time.

Bounties don't seem to amount to all that much to begin with, but look like they might be beefed up with Forsaken.

Quote

With the original launch of Destiny, bounties provided a set of daily objectives that players could use to advance faction reputation or earn XP to level up their gear. These were removed to streamline the activity experience in Destiny 2 and reduce the number of “chores” that players felt compelled to complete every day. In retrospect, we realized that was an over-correction, and optional daily objectives to achieve specific goals are something we want to restore.

The bounties returning to Destiny 2 in Update 1.2.3 are a return to most of the properties of bounties in The Taken King. They will be obtained from a variety of vendors, they will generally award XP and faction reputation (though some will offer even better rewards), and can be redeemed “in the field” to immediately claim your rewards. In Forsaken, you may also see some bounties drop in the wild.

There are two new mechanics. Bounties will expire if left uncompleted, and acquiring them will cost a small amount of Glimmer. We wanted to avoid the “grab every bounty you see until your inventory is packed and sort them out later” experience without constraining players to the tiny inventory they found in previous iterations of the game.

In Forsaken, more vendors will have more bounties on offer, and some will provide Legendary (or better) rewards for completing them.

It looks like they'll feature in the so-far missing Triumphs, so there's that too.

Nope, they only just did it. To be fair, they did say ages ago that 'the Prismatic Matrix will feature 10 Eververse items from Season 3 each week it is active,' which implied it wouldn't always be. But they could have been clearer about it. I think they've taken a suck-it-and-see approach but not made that evident.

There's been nothing in it I haven't already got in the last two or three weeks anyway. I just wish the whole Eververse thing would go away altogether, but obviously it'll be revamped for Forsaken, along with the Matrix. I hope it gets reduced rather than expanded, and I'd like the big splash screen that appears every time you get an Eververse engram to get removed. Funny how that can pop up in a raid and almost blind you, whereas killing a boss happens with little fanfare. They really need to reverse that and make everyone's loot display all over your screen when you do the latter, like it used to in D1, and hugely tone down the earthquake-like impact of grinding another Tess Token out.

Nerfing the negative modifiers seems like an reasonable move, if only because the ones they mention are annoying rather than fun, particularly at lower levels. Glass in particular makes bosses an absolute chore at low power. It'd be nice if they introduced some new ones, though.

Not sure about bounties. I really liked the way they were streamlined in D2 - i don't miss the old slog of loading up the game, choosing your character, choosing the Traveller from the director, waiting for it to load, running to Zavala, bounty robot, Shaxx, pondering your choice, going back to orbit, and then loading the actual game bit up. It'd be nice if you could select them in the same way that you can select Nightfall modifiers, to save you another few minutes of faff at the start of each session - I like the idea of the tower as somewhere you go to at the end of a session to decompress, look at the view and listen to the soothing flute motif, rather than the bit that gets in the way of you starting to play.

Well, some of them may be obtainable from planetary vendors, who tend to be more or less at your spawn point - but that might wait until Forsaken. And they'll sometimes drop in the field in Forsaken too. So that's a bit better if you don't want to check in to the Tower before play. Personally, I liked doing that, because there was only one guy giving out the PvE bounties (duplicated in each social space, obv), and you could make one stop to see which bounties stacked easiest and pick up the ones you wanted that could be completed at a single location and one activity. I think made it a lot quicker and more efficient than spreading them all over the place, which is what they'll probably do, like they do with the per-location challenges now.

But yeah, if they were to just appear in your menus somewhere on log-in, that'd be cool. And at least you don't have to go back to the vendor to hand them in.

Having them for planetary vendors might be quite good, as it'd make flashpoints and adventures a bit more interesting if there are more things to do down there. And I like the idea of them dropping in the field too. The ideal place to put them would be on the director, on the Crucible / Strike selection screen, but I really doubt they'll do that.

That's a Masterwork. It doesn't need you to do anything. For reasons I don't understand, they drop in either a Vanguard or Crucible form, then track your kills in PvE or PvP. Masterworks have a randomly-rolled boost to one of their stats, and make orbs on multikills.

not sure I understand the point of a bounty that gives you vanguard rep so you can get another better devils. I think introducing new reward mechanics without any new rewards is kind of pointless. am I not understanding this properly?
