Destiny 2: Lightfall

Someone else told me they didn’t think it was Fillion. I played it and didn’t notice a change, but it was the very last thing I did at E3 before heading to the airport and I was basically a husk on legs by that point, so who knows. Does seem a bit off that they wouldn’t get Fillion back for the character’s final hours, though.

Reset notes for those still chasing milestones.

Flashpoint is Mars, aka will you stop setting off bleedin EP with only one player?

Nightfall's A Garden World, aka that shitty round thing on Mercury Tree of Probabilities.

Heroics are solar singe and, today, grounded and brawler.

Obv Iron Banner is on as well.

Glad flashpoint is Mars, I’m still on like stage 2 (3?) of the Bray quest and need the ten EP round clears.

Iron Banner can get stuffed. Couldn’t stand it last time. Oh ok maybe a little bit for the milestone.

Me too, but I still can’t get enough randos together for an EP past level one.

Gah, got to the end of wave seven of Escalation Protocol without realising that you have to take key fragments to Ana Brey to get them made into a key first.

This happened to me earlier. First time I'd properly done Escalation Protocol too and there was no way of knowing about this beforehand since the game doesn't bother telling you. Great stuff. At least I got the Crimson catalyst dropped and finished.

Good interview here about some of the changes coming with Forsaken. Glad to see daily heroic story missions coming back https://www.gamesradar.com/destiny-2-forsaken-12-game-changing-details-bungie-told-us-about-at-e3-and-what-they-mean-for-the-future/

More details about Forsaken stuff in a Twinfinite interview with project lead Scott Taylor, including details of the weapon slot system:

Quote

Twinfinite: Could you explain how weapon slot changes will work exactly? What’s going to happen to the current loadout of Kinetic, Energy, and Power. For example: If you can run power weapons in the first two slots now, how will that change the current power weapon slot?

Taylor: So the power slot is going to house the rocket, the sword, and the linear fusion rifles, and the grenade launchers. All the other weapons can be assigned to either the primary or secondary slot. Which means a shotgun could drop and it could show up in your first slot, second slot, or your third slot, but they will be assigned to a slot. You have to figure out based on what’s available to you, where you want to place things.

Twinfinite: So for example, Better Devils that’s going to stay as a kinetic first slot weapon not [drop as] a power or an energy weapon?

Taylor: There will still be kinetic and energy, so yeah Better Devils will likely stay where it is. It’s possible I’m wrong about that, but my assumption is that based on the fact that it doesn’t have an energy, would be that it stays there.

Twinfinite: You can’t run two better devils for example?

Taylor: If a Better Devils dropped that was set in that slot, you can’t just place anything wherever.

Bungie's usual clarity of communication there, so interpret that how you will. Also, Variks is back, sort of, maybe, and some other stuff we've more or less heard before.

Tried to upload this earlier, but my PSN account was being a spaz and not linking to Youtube, and then we had to raid. But here it is in all its (greed infested) glory. AKA - Yes, I am a lucky twat:

Turns out if you've had any Escalation Protocol weapons prior to this weeks flashpoint, you may get lucky from Cayde and get another one. So of course I got the sniper, being the jammy cunt I am.

The long pause with me mousing over the gun is me being slightly stunned, while also gloating to Gorf on party comms, who likely threw his controller out the window soon afterwards while simultaneously cursing Bungie and all of their firstborn.

I accepted it with the calm resignation with which one greets successive Conservative election victories: an inevitably recurring consequence of the crooked world we live in.

And no whiskey (or whisky) for me, Smitty. The raid team's only got room for one lush; the rest of us have to stay sober to look after him - he can be a handful when he's roasted, which is well, and often.

Is there a regular PS4 clan Escalation Protocol crew I could get involved with? If not, let's start one. I lucked into a decent group on randoms on patrol and got all the way to level 7 before I got kicked to orbit with an error. It's some high quality enjoyable Destiny chaos, isn't it?

People don't seem mad keen on spending the time in party just hanging about, inviting randoms and trying to set up an instance that'll accommodate ~6 of us. I did it once with some mukkers but the first hour was just me and one other guy server hopping, then getting some suitable candidates/getting lucky, then desperately messaging people to get on. If you can get the people - with the right setups - to agree to party up and do the prep then sure, why not. The rest of it - the battle itself - should be a doddle if you have the right levels and gear.

Ah, is it still much of a nightmare to get six together? I have read the horror stories of asking people to leave to get nine in. I had imagined three going down to Mars as a fireteam, one person leaving the fireteam but staying in the map, then inviting the others into the two fireteams you now have in the same instance. Though I suppose this relies on getting into an instance with fewer than three randoms in it.

When we do it, we have six people all jumping into the bottom spawn, waiting whenever we get into an empty one & then just keeping going till we get two people in an instance, and all join on them.

We’ve done it a fair few times now, doesn’t usually take more than 15 minutes or so.

Then you can easily do EP with six, but the randoms generally join in.

So this is my second time round playing it after completing it when it first came out, now i don't know if it's because i'm playing Hunter this time round but the game seems insanely hard and people in the competitive modes really don't want to help when it comes to reviving you or collecting the kill  confirmed stuff.

It's literally a whole different community to me.

Or is it just all in my head?
