Destiny 2: Lightfall

Ok I really like the Fated Engram system. I hadn’t used it at all but after doing the unthinkable a few weeks back and starting to enjoy playing Hunter I realised I needed the Orpheus Rig and that, with exotic drops from other activities nerfed into near oblivion, Xur was my best shot at it.

It’s taken me a few weeks, but I finally got it today, and the journey hasn’t been frustrating at all because it’s been getting me stuff that, obviously, I didn’t already have. I may never use the Jade Rabbit or Frost-EE5, but I appreciated the game giving me an opportunity to get one of the handful of things I hadn’t already got. Because I hadn’t played much since Osiris dropped, and all the infusing you do after a new expansion, I’ve been living hand to mouth in terms of shards, so have had to focus during the week on making sure I have enough for an engram by the time Xur comes back.

It’s really cool and I’ll miss it, because there’s basically nothing else I want and don’t have. But I have new appreciation for a system I’d previously ignored because the game was so generous it made it irrelevant. If anyone’s got that one OP exotic they’re missing and really want, I can highly recommend it. It’s a structured sort of chase with a dose of RNG, which is the sort of Destiny I like the most.

I used it after season one where I didn't have Tractor Cannon. I got Tractor Cannon. Yay, Bungie!

Then I used it the other week after not bothering with CoO at all and got the fucking legs that Xur was flogging that week. Fuck Bungie, etc.

I was properly upset* because I literally had just enough shards for that fucking shitty engram.

*not really.

I actually was, if I'm honest :(

I just did an Escalation Protocol thingy with rllmuk mans. I wasn't sure what was going on, but there were many men, so I shot some men. I got a bond for my Warlock. My fucking Warlock. If I'd known what I was getting myself into, I would've been on my Titan. Thanks, 'mukmans!

Then me and @mikeyl had a chat.

Admittedly, i cant be bothered to comb reddit - are any of these weapons worth farming for or jis it ust for completeness sake?

the sniper is good, the smg is really good, and shotgun is brilliant.

You should ask someone who actually has the weapons - but you'll not find many of them, because with the drop rates being so low, getting one demands either countless hours of farming wave 7 completions or incredible luck.

So you should ask Ben, as he got the SMG sometime in the wee small hours.

OUR NEWEST PARTNERSHIP

At Bungie, our purpose is to build worlds that inspire friendship. For over twenty-five years, through Marathon, Myth, Oni, Halo, and Destiny, we’ve created fantastic places where players have gathered to become heroes. Now, our long-term goal is to become an entertainment company that sustains many worlds simultaneously – Destiny and new worlds to come.

Today, we’re excited to announce that we’ve entered into a new partnership with NetEase to help us explore new directions. With their industry expertise, they’ll empower us to build new worlds and invite players, new and old, to join us there. They’ll help us support separate teams inside Bungie to bring our newest ambitions to life.

If you’re a player of Destiny, this news won’t impact the hobby you’ve come to know. Destiny is an experience that will grow for many years to come. We’ll continue to work with our partners at Activision to foster this global community and turn new players from all over the world into Guardians. Our commitment to that world is not diminished by this announcement. We have exciting plans for the future of the Destiny franchise, and you’ll learn more about the next steps we’ll take together in the weeks to come.

For now, we’re grateful for the opportunity to welcome NetEase to the family. We have a bold vision to explore with them, but that is all a conversation for another time.

China's NetEase invests $100 million in Bungie to make new games

Bungie wants to become a multi-franchise developer, says this won't affect 'Destiny.'

[...] In China NetEase publishes several Blizzard games like Overwatch, Hearthstone and World of Warcraft, among other titles. GamesIndustry reports that NetEase is making a $100 million investment in Bungie that will snag it a minority stake in the developer, but that apparently won't impact Bungie's agreement with Activision, and any decision to bring Destiny to China is still Activision's [...]

Christ, they barely manage to support one game (with at least two other studios helping them and they didn’t even make the last DLC themselves primarily). Maybe learn to walk before you run?

sounds to me like this will be left with vicarious.

Given what was in their original contract, I suppose this new partnership means they've managed to hit their financial targets pretty quick and Activision declined to publish this new game, as they had right of first refusal too. They've even clearly done well enough for Jason Jones himself to lead this new project.

At this rate, the Chinese will have a financial or strategic interest in all the major Western developers that are for sale. They've clearly got way too much money to throw around.

Hello dudes, it's been a while.

I've recently been trying to get back into this. I never really got all that far the first time out. I did the campaign, played a few strikes, had a couple goes in the crucible, and I got my character to around 270.

Since going back in, I've been do my activities, such as flashpoints and strikes. I've even been on some quest with Drang. It all feels a bit pointless though. My character doesn't seem to be picking up any better gear than I currently have and I'm finding it a bit boring to be honest.

What's the best way to start getting my character up then? I'm currently playing solo, but I'm up for jumping in with any Xbox players out there if that'll help things. I just feel like I'd be a liability being so underleveled, not to mention not even being allowed to do some activities.

Yeah, good luck with that. :coffee:

I kid, you're best to head to the online folder, there's an Xbox Clan.

I have no idea on the context of that image.

What are the good Titan exotics for Sunbreaker? I've only got Hallowfire Heart which I really don't like at all since it relies on you not using your super which kind of defeats the purpose.

I never got much use out of it, but the helmet that looks like a weird skull with three spikes coming out of it is apparently very effective, as it recharges your shield, and makes it damage enemies when it's deployed. And there's a new set of exotic arms in the latest expansion that replace your grenades with a super-powerful fusion bomb - that seemed pretty cool, but not essential by any means. To be honest, neither seem to be worth giving up an exotic slot over Synthoceps, Armamentarium, or Actium War Rig.

I don't have Armamentarium (was going to buy it when Xur had it the other week but I'm not really arsed about having an extra grenade). I've got the War Rig and used that all the time with Sweet Business until the Warmind update that buffed Graviton Lance, Sunshot and Skyburner's Oath so one of them is always in my energy slot. Synthoceps seem pretty good, they were one of the first exotics I got in this but I never really used them so I'll give them a try and I think I've got gauntlets in my vault to infuse and get their level right up.

Before now I was almost always playing a striker so Insormountable Skullfort was my go-to exotic armour.

(Finally) All Escalation Protocol armour pieces, starting with Titan, then Hunter and finally Warlock (Skip to 0:38 to start)

Titan looks the best, but thats not really that hard when 90% of the armour in game for Titans make them look like they have a fridge on each shoulder and a cardboard box on their head. Hunter armour looks pretty good, but Warlocks get the shaft it seems, with the armour making them look like leather wearing tramps.

Also for lore nuts, all the code on each armour piece has been pieced together to form a sort of garbled Rasputin grimoire card:

VGG113TTI909TXM001 GENNULLZ-UNWR!! AI-COM/RSPN: ASSETS//SUBTLE//IMPERATIVE
CONTINGENT ACTION ORDER
This is a SUBTLE ASSETS IMPERATIVE.
Horizon event GUARDIAN PROXY ZAMENA likelihood high.
Data gathered from GENOTYPENULL-ZERO UNWRAP insufficient to proceed to GENOTYPEUNNULLWRAP-ZERO.
UNNULLWRAP-ZERO parameter shortfall 38.767%.
Field observations:
[F52] genotype resilient to nullification/[F52] genotype datafarming efficiency gap high.
[F52] genotype suitability for GUARDIAN ZAMENA remains HIGH.
No change to DATAFARM parameters advised.
Recommendation follows:
//increased GENOTYPENULL activity//26%
//increased datafarming intrinsic to GENOTYPENULL//26%.
//increase ALTERNATE ZAMENA review, likelihood of use estimated at 0.000047%.
When datafarming from GENOTYPENULL at 99% of parameter, invoke UNNULLWRAP-ZERO.
When UNNULLWRAP-ZERO product yield reaches 34% of GENOTYPENULL full expended, promote event CARRHAE ZAMENA.
Continue GENOTYPENULL.
STOP STOP STOP VGG113TTI909TXM001
