I stopped playing this a short while after completing the campaign, I think I was on 285 light. Is the DLC worth getting for solo play?

Not really, each DLC campaign will give you a few more missions but they aren't really worth the cash.

It might be worth dropping back into the main game though as you'll get most of the QoL updates (including the exotics being more fun) as a base game owner.

I'd hold off on putting any cash down until the full September expansion.

Agreed. The latest expansion is just lazy shite IMHO. Back of a fag packet quality.

I mean, look at it. Its possibly the best looking Titan set in game at the moment if you like sci fi looking stuff, and the shoulders arent freaking ridiculously huge to boot.

Where the hell is it from? Its not from the new raid either, as you can see that on the sweeper bot, but I cant find any info anywhere.

Escalation Protocol set?

Yeah, finally found an image that linked to the event. Didnt twig there was a set for doing that. I've editted the post now.

I'm trying to find the hunter and warlock sets.

Only pic I can find of the other sets (so far):

Edit: Good thing about the armour is you wont get repeat drops until you get the full set it seems; first drop is class item, then legs to arms onto chest and then finally the helm. It may become random once you have the full set, I'm not sure. Essentially, you wont have to worry about not getting a complete set if you persevere with Escalation Protocol, which is pretty nice. Problem is, they only drop once per week, and only after wave 7! Better get grinding the raid for armour to boost your power level

And to open the chest at wave seven you need to get a key (you can only get one per week) by handing over seven Rasputin key fragments to Ana. They seem to drop from some yellow bars - maybe bosses - in heroic strikes. A Bungie employee talked about the rewards on reddit a few days ago.

I'm taking my warlock through the campaign. I just got sunspot. Man. I'm gonna be sad when I outlevel that. However I'm going to fucking love dicking around with it when I hit 20. A seriously fun handcannon. Who'd have thought it?

Just finished the campaign. I think I might main my warlock. Their jump is still the shittest though. Certain areas during the campaign that would have been utterly trivial jumps on the hunter or titan are just a bloody pain in the arse.

I have a Titan and Hunter on PS4. Started a Warlock on PC a week ago. Jumping sections on Mercury using the Warlock + Keyboard & mouse combination have had me banging my head off the desk.

It's quite funny in a way. As you roam around the map you can see all the spots where they've had to put places for the warlock to use to get to spots the other two classes can reach in one go. You'd think it'd just be easier to give the warlocks more initial height.

I really want Crimson. Bet I don't get one until the next dlc is about to come out.  Just like bastard Hawkmoon, which I only got after they'd nerfed all the fun out of it (and hand cannons in general).

The other day I cashed in over 100 Mars Tokens that I'd been hoarding and picked up the Tractor Cannon, a masterworks Atalanta-D, a bunch of shaders and a few other 340 legendaries, so that was time well spent. :P At least the TC may be fun.

Crimson is the absolute business, it's so satisfying to use. There’s really serious tracking/auto aim on it, so it feels like every three round burst results in at least two headshots.

I got Armamentarium from the really expensive Xur engrams last night, which seems tremendous. Unfortunately, you don’t get three grenades if a particular class already has two so it’s pretty useless for arc titans, but it’s really useful for hammerbros and shieldmans. I’d love Bungie to do a similar exercise for exotic armour to the one they’ve just carried out for exotic weapons; some exotic armour seems really useful like the one that constantly reloads auto rifles (it’s admittedly only really noticeable if you’re using Sweet Business), but the rest seem to have somewhat obscure effects.

I ballsed up picking a weapon from Mars lady I think. I was a bit drunk and don't think I picked Kibou AR3 as a reward, or I've smooshed it into another weapon.

Now I need to grind a whole shit load of Mars tokens in order to get ten engrams, in order to pay 10 Mars Tokens for the gun.

Sigh. Drunk me is bad me.

Man, the new heroic strikes are HARD. I spent the best part of two hours on it last night, and completed two strikes in total. The Inverted Spire is crazily difficult in places, especially at the end - I’d barely even realised that the game had snipers before, but they can seriously wreck your shit now.

The Earth strike on the ruined dam isn’t so hard for the most part, but the boss is an absolute bastard. I developed a nice, wordless rapport with a random player after we kept dying and the third player kept dropping out. Every time we wiped, he’d start out by giving me the ‘got your back’ gesture, which genuinely kept me motivated when I was on the verge of quitting. Eventually, we got a third player who didn’t kill anyone, but ran round the arena cloaked resurrecting anyone who died, which was enough to push us over the line and kill the boss. A lovely little moment after a long stretch of pain, and the kind of rando solidarity you don’t get in multiplayer games so often these days.

My mate and I and a random did the Heroic Insight Terminus one on Sunday (the PS exclusive?) - the one on Nessus with the big Psion (Kargen?)

Was incredibly tough.. We were only just hitting 345.. had never done this strike before and his energy bar seemed never ending - never mind the tons of Cabal needing many shots to down - (those fucking cleaver bastards!)

We wiped twice and it was a war of attrition, often sprinting round the arena to give the others time to respawn getting a few shots at the boss here and there.. Came right down to the three count once but my mate ~just~ respawned in time and we picked it back up and wore him down, then both my mate and the random got taken out right next to Kargen, with him on a few pixels of health left, I got swarmed by Cabal over the other side, hopped on a wall and leapt away taking fire, my shield popped, Kargen stepped out from behind a wall and (still in the air) managed to headshot him with Tarantula..

It was tough and exhausting but man that was such a rush!

Hah, I just finished that strike (first time I've played it). It's a really good one. I think I've read you may be able to get the flayer cloaks that were from the original in it but I certainly won't be grinding it with the current modifiers of no radar and 1 hit kills and all them gladiators and doggos!

The Ornament for it's not bad either.

It's a great gun now, but I haven't ended up using it as much as I might because it suffers a little as you go up toward endgame and enemies' health is so high that you don't get headshot kills sufficiently frequently to trigger the ammo replenish/healing effects enough to make them really count. That might change as I stop being so hideously under-levelled, and it's still great at clearing trash mobs, but there are other DPS solutions in PvE that might warrant the exotic slot a little more. It's still excellent, but it has plenty of competition.

Which is a good thing, because it shows that the reworked exotic weapons are great. It's funny you mention Armanentarium because I got that the other night, too, and I was really disappointed to find it just added another grenade to a couple of subclasses, and had none of the other benefits of the D1 version. I don't see what they couldn't just make it as it was in D1 and have it hold extra heavy and (I guess) energy ammo as well. They do need to make a rework of exotic armour similar to that of exotic weapons, where they throw 'balance' out of the window and reach for power and fun instead. At the moment, the only exotic armour pieces I really rate as truly exotic are for the Hunter, which has a decent-to-amazing one for each subclass - Angry Bird Head for the orange man, Chest of Tubes for lightning rod guy, and All The Ropes, All The Time for the sneaky dude. All exotic armour should be that good really, and every time I ditch the Hunter and strap on a set of oversized Titan shoulder pads and jewelled crotch dome I lament at how ostentatiously bulky the set is for what little it really accomplishes.

(The Escalation Protocol set does at least look great, though.)

I got the gun the day before yesterday, then did the raid last night, and got the masterwork core for it. I only used it for a bit on the day I got it, but I'm not that much of a fan of it, seeing as Sunshot makes everything explode.

I got the ornament for it from Tess, but its way too bright when using it. Light glares off the back of it, blinding you. Will have to remove the ornament I guess.

I want to do a quick play through of the campaign again to get Sunshot but I know I'll do that then my next exotic engram will be that and I'd have wasted a good 8 hours or so. All three exotic engrams I've got so far since I started playing again with this expansion have all been duplicates so it's good to see they've still not bothered to sort that yet.

After running some heroic strikes, and then realising I didnt have the stupid hand cannon equipped, I just ran another one.

And it didnt progress the quest at all.

Fuck off Bungie.

Edit: To clarify, obviously I ran the quest again with the hand cannon equipped and it didnt progress. Seems I got that bug with the name of the strike coming up without noticing. Done them now, after making sure each time.

I had a related issue yesterday - was early on in a Heroic Strike when I defeated the last of the 50 powerful enemies using the IKELOS hand cannon.. the next step then being to complete 5 Heroic Strikes.. we finished that one and - still 0/5..  :quote:

(It DID show it as the Heroic Strike Playlist before we started - been checking.. and it counted as my mate's 3rd of the weeklies.. I'd already done my 3)

Any idea if it didn't count as I moved to the next objective mid-strike? Or is it likely the bug?
