Destiny 2: Lightfall

Me and two other suckers who bought the season pass dipped in to try 6v6 Iron Banner last night.

There's too much power ammo but overall it was a lot more fun than 4v4. It felt like there was simultaneously less teamshot and way more. Every now and then you get gunned down by six people simultaneously but there's so much more flanking and one on one fights. I got to waste my super twice a match on average and overall we had a good time. Rewards still obviously suck but at least the matches felt a lot more fun.

OK, so they've buffed those weapons quite a lot. Graviton Lance looks like it fires tactical nuclear weapons, and Skyburner's Oath looks like a gun you might actually use at some point.

I had a few games on 6v6 Iron Banner last night, and it was great - fast, hectic, chaotic, funny. I was getting loads of supers, and got killed every single time I activated one. Grenades and melee still seem underpowered, but the actual game was absolutely ace. Feels like I could get back into this.

are you using masterworks armour @K? note is it a very significant buff. I have seen people become invisible when they only had a sliver of health.

No - I hadn't played it in ages before firing it up last noght, so I haven't had any MW armour drop yet. To be honest, I'd forgotten that MW armour was even a thing. I've got some cores lying around, I might see if I can upgrade one of my sets.

Stuck this on again after a prolonged absence, and while it certainly feels faster and more dynamic, I’m still running around shooting Vex and Fallen and getting bored of it. I did that for a hundred hours in D1! Give me something like the Taken. I think the worst problem with D2 is that the minute to minute fighting just hasn’t changed really since The Taken King landed; it desperately needs something new for me to be shooting at.

Bought myself a set of the new PS4 Golds and thought I’d give IB a whirl to test them out (Bungie’s sound design is still a cut above) and ended up playing 4 games. Was fantastic fun, got a 5.0 k/d on my first match and 6v6  is just way more fun than I had in any of the tedious 4v4 nonsense.

Still terrible and uninteresting loot though. A load of unusable weapons that aren’t a rocket launcher and the whole lot was sharded. Not enough to get me playing regularly again but I might have another go tonight whilst I wait for God of War to unlock.

Hmm, what to buy: Destiny 2 or Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash.

Who wants to play Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash with me?

I am sorry I chose Destiny 2 over you Senran Kagura Peach Beach Festival. I was not thinking clearly.

They sort of did in the first game with those huge vehicle-focused maps, which they ditched for the sequel. They would have been fun with more players, though.

I do miss summoning my sparrow mid match and bombing it over to a control point.

Everyone being able to spawn with sniper rifles got frustrating though.

I get this feeling with the Crucible in Destiny 2 that they came up with solutions for what didn't work in Destiny 1 only to throw out the stuff they fixed as well.

I’m not expecting much from the DLC. Realistically they wouldn’t have time to have made major changes to whatever their original plan was, so it'll probably be similar in scope to the last one with some minor tweaks. I get the impression Bungie know this and are prepared for another kicking and are banking everything on their big September DLC. I think that was partially their motivation for getting in all the streamers in for a 'summit' now, try and build some goodwill to help them hide some time until September.

I think their only option left to bring people back is to give the September DLC away free to the folk that bought/preordered the 'Destiny 2 + DLC' editions.  Those that have stopped playing are not going to drop £40 on it and if they have fixed things it'd at least generate some goodwill for subsequent DLCs.

Looks like a solar arcstrider in that video... solarstrider?

I bought the expansions as part of the pack I got but probably won't download it or play it. I wonder what the bigwigs at Bungie will think when half their userbase who bought the expansion don't play it because that will not bode well for their September release.

They must be bricking it, heads should really roll for whoever made the call to turn it into what it became.

Would you come back if they gave you the September, I assume Taken King sized, release for free?

I still play a bit, but can’t see me buying the Sep DLC, mainly because it’s nigh on impossible to get a raid crew together anymore.

I also went for the digital + dlc release but won't be downloading this new DLC. I'm done with the game @DonRumsfeld even if they gave away the September release for free I would not come back. I enjoyed my time with Destiny especially the first game & doing the raid is still one of my gaming highlights but the sequel I just lost interest after a few months.

People will come back if it's really good and is marketed effectively. I don't know what the player numbers are like, so maybe it's closer to launching a new game than launching an expansion, but if Bungie come up with something really compelling, then the players will come back. Does anyone remember reading those Edge previews of the Taken King, and how amazing it sounded? That's the kind of thing they need to come up with. It'll be hard, but totally doable, and well within Bungie's capabilities.

It would have to be spectacular to get me back in because it’s been so lacklustre. Their focus on PvP has pissed me off to no end.

Loved playing with my mates. Doing quests and missions etc. but nobody plays it anymore at all.

Out of 6 of us that raided TTK (most playing since launch, couple TTK only) only 2 are even interested in downloading the next DLC pack (I think all pre-ordered the pass).

And we're all still gaming - it's just Destiny 2 burned bad, and Bungie made enough mistakes that people don't trust them to fix it - and even if they do fix it, they'll just be back to a game we were kinda burning out on 2 years ago.

I see the DLC teaser presents The Hive as the a key feature. Yey. FIghting them. Again.
