Hello, it's a-me, I'm the guy who bought The Division: Gold Edition, only played the first DLC for about 10 minutes, didn't even download the rest, spent a year regretting the purchase and moaned about it to anybody who would listen, who then went on to pre-order the Digital Dickhead edition  of Destiny 2.

I think  you're being unfair on yourself.

Division had a great beta and people were excited - although you were still buying an unknown item

Destiny 2 had Destiny 1! More of that! More of Y2 and Y3 Destiny! They're refined the errors and made something great! It'll be great from the start!

I did Milestones on one character last night - enjoyed it as playing with 2 chums. I think I just enjoyed playing something with chums - it could have been anything. No compulsion to go back again this week

I made the Division mistake but luckily bought the disc, the beta was fun but it was still fairly obv the shooting mechanics were not great but I did enjoy the campaign... the end game was garbage!

Destiny 2 had a terrible beta, it was fairly obvious it was going to be disappointing and yet I went digital but at least game only - still gutted of course but at least if I kep it installed Sony can’t advertise it in my game list!

According to Jason Schreier of Kotaku there was a big reboot of the development of Destiny 2 sometime in early 2016: https://youtu.be/A_Z0RgwFnAc?t=14m53s

Quote

I think that it (Destiny 2) was made in a relatively short period of time. There was a big reboot of Destiny 2 at some point of early 2016. There had been a previous director who was directing the game before Luke Smith (who's the current director) took over. So that guy was kind of put aside and Luke Smith took over. I believe that was in April of 2016 but I might be misremembering. Don't hold me to that exact line. So if you think about it that way then they didn't really have a ton of time. It had been a 16 months period between the reboot and when the game finally shipped.

So basically exactly what happened with the first game. He also talked about how Eververse came to existence.

Quote

What Bungie decided was we can't do this any more this is too hard for us to do (referring to releasing a DLC every few months) the tools that we're working with are really hard to deal with. it's hard for us to make this much content. it's just hard to make content in general. And they said we're going to do a smaller or drip feed of smaller stuff and we're going to put up the Eververse and make money that way, and Activision said okay. it was a part of their renegotiated deal and they got to a point where they didn't have to be cranking up so much content

Given D1's thing was "use the microtransactions to pay for the live team content", this seems equivalent to saying "what if we could abandon delivering the content but still get paid?"

Thought I'd log in & play for the first time in a couple of weeks. Servers unavailable.

Seems I have to use some other internet connected device to see why I can't play the game I paid £80 for.

Pre announced server maintenance for a few hours.

Bit of a gamble though. Being a semi keen Destiny player, I accepted the maintenance at the perviously prescribed interval. I suppose it's on top of the previous offline times on reset day but, what has it come to when one might have to check twitter and/or a website before loading the game? The most feeble thing is that the game itself can't report the up to date info to a player.

If I could be bothered I might actually have a read of the EULA/terms under which I bought the game. Shame.

- Eververse booths now available in the EDZ, Titan, Nessus, Io and in orbit

- Whenever Tess Everis is not on screen, Ghost will ask "Where's Tess?”

wonder why it had to be re-booted again. first time there was that info about an internal meeting where the original planned story went down like a led balloon. but what would make them scrap all planets they had at that point. I understand changing leads at that point given Luke's success with the vault of glass. why would you not give him the next big project. but surely he would work to continue rather than starting over.

On a separate note, I think the raid lair is fucking brilliant. right up there with the best raids in destiny. if they can shit out one of those every 3 months I will be one happy member of the Positivity Club.

Is that the first or second raid?

I'm interested in trying the second on Tuesday night. I don't hold any hope at all of finding six, though :(

Jump on PC! The crew did the new raid content for the first time yesterday! It's fucking amazing.

I finally got a chance to do the Eater of Worlds raid lair and I thought it was excellent. It looks absolutely beautiful and I'm a fan of the shorter length. It took us three hours with five players who had never done it before and so needed walking through the Argos fight. The fight itself is up there with Atheon and Aksis in terms of my favourite raid bosses. It's just the right amount of hectic and stressful and I loved how you're constantly on the move around the (spectacular) arena. They've come a long way from hiding in a room then waiting on a ledge to shoot rockets at Crota.

If they expanded the first fight with the cabal midway through to include some interesting mechanics I think it'd be basically perfect for what I'd want out of these raid lairs.

If they can push out something of this quality with each expansion then they've got my business for the foreseeable future.

Datamined Crimson Days event.

Crimson Days

Rumors for an upcoming crimson days event are already spreading and now i found some further evidences in the package files of the PC client. As far as i can judge, it seems this event will again be a mostly cosmetic rewards event and somehow bound to our beloved eververse. I found some graphics that indicate that and additionally also I found some scripts, which refer to that:

"Guardians honor the unbreakable bonds they forge on and off the battlefield by competing in the Crucible's Crimson Days festival. First, follow the rose petals in the Tower to Tess Everis'-she has something for you."

"Speak to Tess Everis to claim your free Crimson Days Engram."

However, it’s interesting to see there is also some kind of pvp and raid content linked to this event, which will be interesting to see. Here are some scripts, which refer to the pvp event – however, I couldn’t find anything related to a crimson raid event, but there is a picture which looks like it is.

"Speak to Shaxx in the Tower to learn more about his love for Crimson Days."

"As boisterous as ever, Shaxx speaks warmly (and loudly) of Crimson Days'-and of his challenge to Guardians who choose to celebrate with him in the Crucible."

"Shaxx congratulates you and your Crimson Bond on battles hard-fought and victories hard-won during Crimson Days'-and offers a handsome reward with his inspiring words."

"Complete Crimson Days Crucible matches."

"Complete Crimson Days matches to earn holiday-themed rewards."

"Crimson Doubles"

"Win a Crimson Days match in sudden death."

From what I saw, we will get the following (cosmetic) items:

emotes

ghost shells

ornaments

shaders

mods

transmat effects

sparrows

"This engram contains one Crimson Days vanity reward and a small stack of shaders or a transmat effect."

"This pack contains a small stack of shaders that evoke the inspiring nature of an unbreakable bond, in honor of Crimson Days."

"A one-time bundle for Guardians who develop lasting bonds...Contains Crimson Days engrams, Bright Dust, a weapon ornament for Graviton Lance, and a Fireteam Medallion. Available only during Crimson Days."

"Show your love for Crimson Days with these exclusive Ghost shells and emotes."

"Speed through Crimson Days alongside your Crimson Bond with these exclusive Sparrows."

"These shaders and mods'-in the colors of roses, love, and other bonds'-capture the spirit of this year's Crimson Days celebrations."

"Your favorite weapons will inspire new bonds everywhere when they're customized with these Crimson Days'-exclusive ornaments."

It also looks like the ghost will track our crimson days kills:

"Tracks the number of opponents defeated in Crimson Days matches."

And somehow Tyra Karn is involved in it:

"Crimson Days are a celebration of partnership and commitment. As the Vanguard's leading archivist of epic legends, Tyra Karn has a certain fondness for the holiday."

TL:DR pretty much the exact same type of thing as the Dawning, The very first step is visiting guess who. They may well change these plans based on the incredibly negative reaction to the microtransaction-fest that was that event. Supposed to be an actual meaty weekly update coming this week.
