Destiny 2: Lightfall

This may be common knowledge, but I had no idea the PSVR processing unit doesn't support HDR. Are those having problems possibly new PSVR owners that weren't aware, like me?

I disconnected the PSVR unit and HDR is back. Looks fucking lovely, but then, it already did.

Well campaign seems a lot of fun so far (4 missions in).  The Infinite Garden is quite something visually and love the No Mans Sky vibe to pre Vex Mercury.

Is there much else beyond the campaign though?  Any new Adventures or quests?  Given Mercury is tiny, a couple of new Crucible maps, a raid 'room' and a powerful gear engram for heroic strikes seeming extremely slight even for Destiny DLC standards...

Theres at least 2 adventures based on my play

Get ready to see IF a lot

No HDR on PS4 pro

That’s the only other feature you get with the DLC? Man Bungie are sure being stingy!

No. Everything else triggers HDR mode correctly. Destiny doesn't.

I noticed the jump to 4K (there’s lots of fine detail - railings and the like - on Titan that were horribly badly anti-aliased), and perhaps better texture filtering (due to the resolution jump).

I can’t say that I noticed much about HDR other than that the colour balance had changed a bit.

The Prestige Raid/Nightfall now requires you to buy Curse of Osiris if you want to play it. That's a bit shitty, of course 'new' content from the expansion should be reserved to those who bought it. But locking people out of base game content only 3 months after they bought it is pretty off.

I would imagine it's related to the rewards, which would be easy enough to scale back...

Theyve upgraded the prestige to 330, so I guess you couldn’t really do it without Curse anyway because you wouldn’t be able to earn the gear to do it?

Resource cooldown is still in there, I went down to the EDZ briefly and there seemed to be loads more planetary mats around, after five quick pickups everything else came up empty. Great.

I quite liked the campaign – the final battle was great – but I'm bored of the Infinite Forest already. I don't think it's a good idea that they Milestone you through a series of adventures after the campaign ends because it's just a series of trips through Chalice Dungeons with something interesting at the end. That tower defence one was alright though, admittedly.

The new area is just OK. I don't like not having a sparrow, it's like we get it Bungie, it's a small place. We'd still like to get places quickly. They've designed the public event around sprint speed at least, I suppose.

Slowly gearing up. I really like the hand cannon you can get from Ikora, it has some nice synergy with devour since a melee kill gives you four bullets back. I was using a nice new fusion until I got a 311 Hawthorne's from an engram, though I was bored of that gun already so I'll be ditching it as soon as I can.

Haven't tried Crucible yet so can't comment on what the sandbox update has done but it sounds like ARs are going to be even more of a problem – they've reduced crit damage but raised base damage so they require even less skill to use, and the one Ikora gives you is like Uriel's with better stats. Most of the patch notes are things I'd expect to be fixed week by week, rather than parcelled up in a 'season' update. Fixing the amphetamine bird on Hawthorne's shoulder should not be a DLC change.

Anyway it's OK. Can't believe how few people were playing last night, though. Bit worried about what happens when the raid drops.

The resource CD thing was next week I think

They’ve put a new pulse rifle in that gains damage as fires rather than as hits. It’s going well in pvp

is that a quest reward? asking for a friend.

Simple, just up the level cap for everyone and only people with CoO get rewards from the expansion's loot pool and can access CoO missions/strike/raid lair, if you haven't bought it you're limited to non-CoO loot. Making portions of the game people paid for inaccessible a mere 3 months from launch is not on. I've bought CoO by the way, so this isn't just sour grapes, I believe its a really skeezy move from Bungie.

Random Exotic.

They'll have to fix the Prestiege stuff not being available unless you've bought CoO - it's needed for an achievement, and I think both Microsoft and Sony say you can't lock base game trophies (or Platinum) behind paid DLC.

I've only played the opening mission so far (which was decent enough) because the people who I play with were more interested in playing Fortnite Battle Royale than the new expansion (and if I'm being honest so was I). I'd be really interested to see how sales of this expansion have stacked up against what they were expecting as it seems there's far less interest in it on here and other gaming forums than there was in the Crota one (which was a bit of a dud) at the equivalent point in Destiny 1's life cycle.

Yeah absolutely, it’s not a new move though. There was plenty of stuff locked away from the base game if you didn’t buy TTK as well.
