Ah, those heady days of hiding in a box waiting for your special ammo to regenerate while a giant Warhammer 40,000 man rampaged around outside.

Did you not play TTK then?

Gorf, I am too old for that. Please think of my blood pressure.

Calme, mon ami. Soyez calme. In this moment of extreme crisis leading to possible cardiac arrest, as tensions build unbearably, let me settle your evident anxiety with a calming story of better times. Back when men were men, and K was just a small pup sheltering in a box, before striding forth, and becoming a wolf in his own right, in some mixed metaphor I'll fill in later, when I have access to my book of floridities again.

When I first started making forum threads, a strong leader of the community, back in the day, told me: "As long as your criticisms are honest, they are good for the community."

I'm not sure he was right, as he was a massive dick. And so was the community. And all the criticisms were dicks too. In fact, everyone, and everything, was, a dick. But one thing I do know is that whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defences, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.

Masterworks sound like fun. It sounds like they have got themselves completely tied up and are struggling to unpick the XP mess.

Not sure about the many other (pretty minor changes) listed. Three of coins coming back seems like an odd decision in amongst everything else they've been asked to focus on. Fates engrams are good for collectors I guess, but more interested in the system that will reduce the chance of a duplicate (why is this not already implemented?!).

It's a shame that the delivery of these changes is split between 5th and 12th December. Will people be tempted to wait a week before starting Curse of Osiris?

Overall, initial reactions to that blog post are very meh for me. It certainly doesn't get me excited about playing Destiny again. Maybe the podcast they mention at the very end will have some more interesting info.

A simpler Three of Coins that boosts Exotic drop rates from any source for 4 hours: No obscure stacking mechanics or need to re-apply before every boss

Maybe 3OC will be worth picking up again then (if the boost is any good)? I often found that buying a set of five resulted in four boss kills with no reward until the fifth because I didn't know how best to use them, so it was as good as buying an exotic engram :P

So the main takeaway is the masterworks weapons, kinda like a halfway house between a legendary and an exotic. Couldn’t they have picked a different bloody gun to show it than Uriel's Gift though, because it drives home what will probably be the issue with them. Gives the power players something to grind for, but in practice I suspect it will  just mean the same few legendaries are going to continue to rule the roost, but now people will be using the Waitrose versions.

Going back to buying stuff directly with currency instead of playing the token slot machine is a decent change,

Reintroducing a bunch of stuff from TTK/RoI, good, but baffling why it was removed in the first place. Feels telling of the design decisions of Destiny 2 is that so much of this feels like it can be boiled down to we're going to try slowly changing things back to how they were. Just wish one of the reverts was going back to the main gun/special weapon/power weapon system as after plenty of playtime with the two primaries and a power weapon I still much prefer the old system.

All changes for the better, but feels kinda slim. Not sure they've really addressed the fundamental issues, but then they haven’t had much time since the potentially damaging media clusterfuck that prompted them to actually address the community in the first place. Will be interested to see just how serious they are about this radical new approach of actually talking to their audience and having a semblance of transparency. I've heard Bungie say that a few times over the past few years, hopefully this time it sticks.

As one of the Positivity Crew, all of that sounds like improving a game I'm already enjoying a lot.

Based on what I've read in this thread recently, it's probably not deep enough for the folk who don't like the significant change in direction, but there's a number of steps to improving what's there.

Nothing in grenades/supers and feeling underpowered (masterworks will Grant orbs I suppose) - or the uselessness of power for most activities

When ‘players will no longer get caught by anti farming tools doing maps we sell them’ is a big feature....eesh

Meh I think In the end. Nothing to make endgame more enjoyable - just better ways to get boring loot from it.

Aye, tinkering at the margins at this point. We might see a TTK-style revitalisation to address core issues come September 2018, but at this stage it looks too incremental - which it always would be, short-term - to satisfy anyone who thinks the game has lost its ambition and scope. (And a lot of its fun.) Of course, as with any Destiny release, the proof is in the endgame/raid quality. But given the nature of Leviathan and the new 'lair' announced, and the fact there's nothing in here about that, you can't be too hopeful if you thought that the worst raid they've ever built.

I guess I'll be seeing you neck-deep in lizard shit, Weavus.
