Levels are just there to gate off legendaries. So by pushing it up to 25 they ensure you have to engage with the new content before you can get disappointed with all the new loot.

If it's to gate off legendaries, couldn't you players just level up and get the new gear by playing the old content? Although I seem to recall that you get XP bonuses for doing the story missions first time round, so maybe you'd level up more quickly doing the new levels. It's not like it's a dealbreaker or anything, it just seems a bit weird in the light of the overall streamlining they did for Destiny 2.

Soapy Time Challenge looks piss easy for those who can do normal Soapy Time.

Hah - so easy I forgot to say what it actually is. It's this:

Spoiler

Someone (on rotation or not) has to be in the water in mid the whole time.

Didn't exactly find it piss easy but I did find it bloody dull.

It's not exciting, is it? The basic ideas behind the raid, that is (I've not done, and won't be doing, C-mode this time around). I so much hope they don't just add on a room that they'd previously removed for the DLC's 'raid content'. I'd actually welcome Skolas back with open arms in preference.

(But really, it should be  Atheonetta, The Betrayed! or something.)

So grenade damage then. Guess who's on top (click the spoiler for a rather long list)....

I'd be all for a nerf to Titans double pulse, but the perk in the top Striker tree would need something else instead, maybe the same kind of perk that the Hunter has in the nightstalker tree as above maybe, but the class/sub-class wide buff below would have to be done, otherwise Strikers would still just use the top tree.

Grenade damage needs to be normalised across the board, for all classes and subclasses. The grenades at the bottom of the list are ludicrously underpowered compared to the ones at the top. Baffling how this got through testing, other than time constraints, maybe.

Seen as how Bungie seem obsessed bringing old exotics back though, how about The Armamentarium? If they do the above, then this exotic would have a place in the game again, even though I'd rather have new exotics than old ones.

That's damage over time though, with Hunters on the bottom tree (which (I think) doubles the time of the grenade effects, but a lot of Nightstalkers, myself included, still won't use, as it doesn't go well with Orpheus Rig (and I prefer Smoke Grenades and Invisi-dodge anyway). They also did the test with a stationary target, so the figures are probably accurate, but they are a bit misleading, as the Pulse grenades are still easily top dog in terms of actually killing something. This is especially true in PvP, as most people don't tend to stand motionless in the AoE effect for the seven or so minutes it takes for them to actually die on something like Voidwall grenades.

Yeah, the grenades you'd actually use in PvP for the other classes are shite.  Axiom Bolt doesn't even take down a shield, same with the sticky fusion grenade (which got me 100s of postmortems in D1).  I'd argue that melee's need a buff too, a charged Warlock melee couldn't slap it's way out of a wet paper bag.

Oh boy @Mr Ben, you've done it now. @Gorf King is gonna come school your arse! :D

(I was corrected yesterday when I said the same thing to him. He speaketh the truth)

I dunno why as Titans are on top, as I've stated underneath that Reddit post, and they do need a nerf (as do Stormcaller ones) - the damage needs to be spread out more over the ticks, as atm each tick hits like a truck. However, damage obviously needs to be adjusted across the board, so people dont feel like they're gimping themselves when using something like poledancer in the nightfall for example, or whatever other content.

I main a Titan, but its shit that we only use 1 of our 3 subclasses because Striker is too good to swap out of. That's not good for the class, and its not good for the game as a whole.

They have reworked token drops. Public events nerfed. Also changes to crucible scoring and mainly control spawning. These came in a hot fix. Super weird it has taken this long. Also no MIDA nerf? Wtf?

They haven't nerfed public events. They've nerfed the quantity of faction tokens you get from them during faction rallies.

They've also nerfed public sectors during faction rallies so resource nodes no longer drop faction tokens at all, obviously to stop people farming them in preference to doing other stuff like they did last time. Hence the increase in faction tokens per strike - so basically it takes you more time and effort to level up factions during a rally.

This isn't a sandbox rebalance, so there aren't any weapon changes. They'll come at the end of season one, and when they do I think you'll find MIDA isn't nerfed alone - it'll probably be HCR that gets it, because HCR is more the issue than one particular gun (and high cals were previously removed in D1, only to be added in again in D2, presumably because D2 development was branched off before the HCR nerf in D1). So you're more likely to see changes to or the removal of HCR throughout, which will nerf quite a few guns, your favourite Uriel's as well as MIDA. Of course, it'll probably impact all these guns in PvE as well as they're unlikely to separate the effects out. So hopefully they won't nerf it at all, because what we don't want in PvE is even less interesting/powerful weapons to play with.

Played a bit of the Raid recently. The section where you get two runners on the outside and you have to shoot the high, medium and low sections. Didn't enjoy it in the slightest - in fact, it actually put me off the entire Raid and I've said no to a few offers of running it.

It's tedious, irritating and brings no joy whatsoever. Don't really see the point of that part at all.

This week's TWAB sets out what aspects of the Curse of Osiris DLC will be covered in November's Twitch streams.

Quote

Stream One – New Stories to Tell: 11AM Pacific, Wednesday, November 15

Learn about the places you’ll go, the characters you’ll meet, and the enemies you'll fight.

Stream Two – New Ways to Play: 11AM Pacific, Tuesday, November 21

Watch us preview some of the new activities that will challenge you and your Fireteam.

Stream Three – New Gear to Earn: 11AM Pacific, Wednesday, November 29

Inspect the new inventories and see it all in action on a brand new Crucible map.

Nothing specifically about the 'raid content' there. Hopefully they'll not let that drag for its setting to be discovered only after release.

Also covered is the next faction rally, running from 7-13 November. There are new weapons as rewards for rankups, and like last time each faction will offer a special weapon only in the event that they win the rally. The offers are:

New Monarchy sword

11022017_faction_rally_NM_Reward.jpg?cv=

FWC fusion rifle

11022017_faction_rally_FWC_Reward.jpg?cv

Dead Orbit grenade launcher

11022017_faction_rally_DO_Reward.jpg?cv=

Obviously that's the last faction rally of the current season: season two begins on 5 December with the release of the Osiris DLC.

Also, Activision's Q3 results, revealed at today earnings call, show D2 is performing better than D1 financially following PC launch, and that time spent per player (on average) is up, as well as spend on 'add-on content':

Quote
  • Destiny 2 is the best-selling console game year-to-date in the U.S., and after the PC launch, is now ahead of Destiny 1 on total consumer spend, time spent per player, attach rate to the Expansion Pass, and average revenue per user for add-on content
  • Full-game downloads for Destiny 2 were over 50% of console sell-through units

That more than half all console sales were downloaded rather than disc-based is interesting, and apparently a record proportion for an Activision title.

Mai Destiny sold better on consoles, wonder how many switched to PC but either way not what I would have expected given the user base difference between titles.

I read somewhere that digital averages 45% on console and the number is increasing, you would expect Destiny 2 to be above the average given the nature of the game.

This week, Xur is selling:

Graviton Lance

Young Ahamkara's Spine

Mask of the Quiet One

Nezarec's Sin

...none of which I already have, which is nice. Quite keen to try out Graviton Lance.

Just when I thought I was out...

...(for the week, at least) Xur sells something I don't have, so I log on for 10 minutes, go buy it, instantly shard it because the light level is too low and it's probably not very good, then log out again.

I don't play this as much as I would like but I still look at what Xur has every week.

Is the Titan helmet "MASK OF THE QUIET ONE" worth getting it has a perk that will recharge your abilities when taking damage.

So remember back before the game launched I think, where it was reported bright engrams would start dropping less and less due to the XP needed increasing per level? Well now there's this:

Cooldowns, even on XP gains now? Something about farming too many Bright Engrams.....
