Destiny 2: Lightfall

@clippa if you want to prioritise performance I would mess about with the internal resolution rendering scale (set at 100% by default) you can go lower or higher in 1% increments until it feels just right. that has the most impact on performance. I would leave SMAA on. based on your description of the slowdown I would say that is CPU related and ambient occlusion and anti-aliasing are more GPU intensive. I think moving things like foliage render distance will have more of an impact.

Update: As part of our ban review process, we have identified a group of players who were banned in error. Those players have been unbanned. The bans were not related to the third-party applications listed above. We will continue to review the process we use to ensure a fun and fair game.

Nice and clear communication from Bungie so far.

Much like the terrible lag that only you seem to see, I’m not struggling to get crucible/IB games or seeing empty towers, so that’s probably just your terrible internet connection again.

Nah, it's not just him, there is actual lag. I don't know how many times I have shot someone in crucible where they have either been glitching all over the place, their health has refused to go down, or it will go down part of the way and then shoot back up.

Well I've not logged in to destiny in over a week. Have I missed anything?

the PC version was released. they announced what seasons will do. no festival of the lost.  people were disappointed. you can go back to what you were doing.

I logged on to visit Xur at the weekend, that’s the only time I’ve been on for over ten days, which in D1 at this stage was unheard of.

Can’t see me being on before Tuesday either, and that’s only to do the Prestige Raid / Challenge with my team.

To be fair though, had they not canned Trials, I’d have probably been on over the weekend.

Rat King get! Thanks to @Oz for organising, @wretcherd for reviving me when I had no idea what to do on the boss, and both of them for putting up with me having no mic because my kids are about. One and done, and even better Commander Vuvuzela gave me a sweet 305 cape, meaning I’m 304 one point from 305. Just need those legs now.

Can't help but Wade in here... The argument is D2 v D1. Are we saying the lag was not worse in D1? It was absolutely atrocious at times! I mean, I will criticise D2 for not having dedicated servers all day, but surely no one can seriously contend the lag is... Worse?

Nah it’s just as bad as Destiny got when they binned off connection based matchmaking, PvP as a whole is worse than Destiny IMO but connections are equally bad!

List of current things the live team is working on from TWAB:

Quote

Here’s a short list of updates we’re working on:

New systems and rewards to give our most engaged players additional, optional pursuits.

Better incentives for players who complete challenging Prestige activities.

Better rewards and replay value for strikes, adventures, and Lost Sectors.

Private matches for the competitive community (we are targeting early 2018).

Crucible tuning like adjusted Supremacy scoring and better spawning rules.

Better incentives for completing Crucible matches (and penalties for quitting competitive games).

Continued improvements to Iron Banner and Faction Rallies, including uniqueness of rewards.

Changes to make the mod economy more interesting and impactful.

Ongoing improvements to Exotics, including adjustments to reduce instances of duplication.

New ways to spend surplus currency and materials (looking at you Legendary Shards).

And obviously the most important thing:

Quote

An emote interface that allows players to equip Salty, Spicy Ramen, Six Shooter, and Flip Out all at the same time.

Paging @Captain LeChuck to the thread on that last one.

All sounds good, and the live team did most of the additions that helped the game in D1, so fingers crossed. I'll be really interested to see what incentives they'll decide upon to get people to do challenging prestige activities though. A one time emblem and an aura are nowhere near enough at the moment.

I can't agree, the worst days of lag in D1 were much, much worse than D2. Banner in particular, but even 3s got bad.

However, the reason ppl complain a lot less about lag than they did then is simply because the player base is so much higher right now. If it dwindles to D1 yr 3 levels, I've no doubt the lag will be the same. Lack of dedicated servers is a big issue. But it's an issue with D2 same as D1.
