Destiny 2: Lightfall

If they were going to time limit that stuff they really should have mentioned it sooner? I’ve been dismantling like a fiend, now some of that stuff might be gone forever and I’ve got no ships/sparrows collection to get it back from?

Like Hexx said, it's odd that this is all about collecting things that are time limited, yet there's no collections tab for most of it, and the only thing they talked about accommodating specifically by maybe expanding the available space was the new shaders - because they're not deleting the old ones. But you're supposed to want to get the new IB and Trials armour, yet with four Seasons a year (and assuming you set them up with mods differently for different activities, and you have different characters) you're not going to be able to keep it and keep the stuff you earned last season and have modded up.

To pick up on what Weavus said, I'm not sure many people 'hate' the game. I know I don't, I'm just disappointed. I guess I shouldn't have expected more from this session, yet I'm still perturbed that 90% of the Seasons thing - and all of the live team input aside from rebalancing, which they didn't directly address - was basically about Eververse items. Because they are either purely random, or bought - they don't come as rewards for particular activities or accomplishments. They could come from anything, such as mindlessly grinding public events 24/7 for XP. I guess the new clarion calls will tell us what activities are the best to earn a chance of something dropping from bright engrams. But it still all seems a bit flat, random, unfocussed apart from arbitrarily.

The exception, where they obviously have focused in on an actual area of concern, is the rewards you get from IB and Trials. Making guns a selectable reward is good, and acknowledging that tokens aren't always the best solution is also nice to see - tying them to gameplay targets just feels a lot better already, even without knowing what those targets are. I hope they do more of this. I also hope they do the same, or better, for future raid rewards (not cosmetics - and make the armour not just cosmetically different, too). So that's a positive sign.

Hopefully they'll address some of the deeper structural issues in the November streams. I still feel sure they're aware of the feedback they're getting and will try to address at least some of it there. But equally, there's a lot about the content and structure that's probably set in stone now until the first major expansion, presumably next September. The next two DLCs will be already mapped out and built to a great extent (Osiris must be basically finished bar tuning). My hope is that they'd already planned to deepen the game via them, not just add more of the same sort of content, so the game's direction will be set out already. If there are no significant changes already written in (e.g. raid armour having perks, the addition of extra Crucible modes inc non-4x4s, additional lore content, improved mods/customisation etc) then it's almost certainly too late to change things dramatically for year one, even if there were a desire to do so.

That video is obviously a parody /joke, but I can't believe that at least two poster's think it's"spot on" or describes the crucible. You gotta wonder, with fans like these, does bungie need enemies.

Personally really enjoying the crucible, still exploring classes and guns. My problem is that the game is not balanced enough (eg last hope is peerless for CQC). I never pulled off no scope multikills in D1 like shimmy and le chuck obvs, so what do I know, right?

That vid is how a large portion of the community feel so while it is a piss take it’s based in reality because whether you like it or not crucible is completely different now and IMO is far worse for it.

One of us has to be right tho ehh, why is it you and not me?

What I meant was a lot of people seem to hate/dislike the direction they have taken in the game, i.e. stripped out any depth it had and as a consequence killed the endgame.

I do feel like the RNG is weighted in the same way the first games was sometimes, towards things you're not using. I remember getting a lot of high level and exotic auto and pulse rifles in the first game, right up until I actually started using them, when the game decided to start dropping me shotguns. I ran the Nightfall (it's pretty cool btw) three times last night, and from my three powerful engrams and one clan engram I got three grenade launchers, a 304 and two 305s. Given how few of the things I have are at 305, that doesn't feel like the best reward, though I got three new exotic weapons overall yesterday so I'm not complaining too much, though one of them was the prospector.

I was thinking about fighting lion though, is it the only weapon in this game that goes in a different slot to the rest of it's type? I used to like those :(

Not sure this is what people want to be hearing right now....

Is there any reason for not sharing legendary's I'm not using? I started trying to collect one of everything and chucking it in the vault, but fuck me I'm struggling for legendary shards now I'm having to infuse everything.

Exotica I can obviously buy back, and I think I can buy quest specific legendary weapons back too, right?

Still creeping up. LL285 now and my drops finally jumped from 277 to 279 after what felt like an eternity.

No reason, unless it's a non-kinetic weapon you love and you want to have more than one colour available without swapping mods, or it's armour with the right stats/look and you want to have different mods in for, say, PvE vs PvP, or to complement different subclasses.

Well with the sandbox changes in December you can expect some buffs and nerfs to weapons so some will get better and some worse but you can likely scrap all grenade launchers apart from The Prospector without worrying.

Orthurs is a beast of a grenade launcher!

I would ordinarily say keep them all, there is not point in having the shards and Bungo will change the meta so something in the vault that is useless now will be the next big thing soon enough but with the fact you can pretty much get any weapon with little effort now there isn’t that much of a need to stockpile.

Regardless I've still hoarded one of almost every gun I've come across. I just can't help myself.

I either shredded antiope d or it has just never dropped after 63 gunsmith levels. I assume the former :( I would keep anything except repeats.

Yeah, this is what I was thinking, because I don't follow what's rare, one off, or fairly common in terms of drops. We'll see!

Anything rare just gets binned though.

Collected 400 IB tokens, handed them all in and didn’t get the IB chest piece for my Hunter. Got four IB helmets, four IB capes, four IB boots and a host of the same weapons but no fucking chest piece. Pissed off? You bet I am.

I have to admit to being annotated at playing all that and not being able to complete the set.

Antiope D looks like the most fun weapon in crucible at the moment by far so of course I don't have it.  an adventure in nessus exodus siege seems to drop the blue version Sondok C so I will check that out as soon as I get a chance to play.

So having spent all the game to now having shit loads of legendary drops and constant progression, I feel like I've hit the endgame and at 285 fuck me it's a push to move forward. Barely anything dropping ever and milestones seek stingy. Getting bored of the same challenges on rotation too - be nice to see more variety and perhaps stuff that's more innovative (over, say, 'use this power 5 times!).

I do like that the strikes seem to get remixed each week though.

Character number two has levelled up at an extraordinary rate thanks to a well stocked vault and piles of highly ranked drops, but I expect that it'll hit the same wall.

Maybe I'll whizz through with a hunter as well, but I'm thinking of taking a bit of a break now.

Still, I'm around 60-70 hours in and only just hit the wall!

It seems weird how little love the strikes get - there’s a milestone for doing a certain number of crucible matches but not one for doing an equivalent number of strikes, and the main strike playlist is massively underlevelled for anyone who’s been playing for a while.

Another thing that struck me before is just how pointless the melee abilities are in Crucible. The Titan shoulder-barge ability, which requires a significant run up to even activate and takes ages to cool down after use, doesn’t even completely take down someone’s shield. I guess it’s in the name of balance, but you wonder why they’re in there at all if they’re so ineffective.

It took two melees to kill someone in Destiny 2. People didnt like that, and so here we are.

The funny thing is, Titans can get a pair of exotic arms that sort of negate this. Coupled with how their pulse grenade is better than any other type of grenade, and you'd be forgiven for thinking "Bungie must really like Titans..."
