No way! It sounds like they designed hard mode then made it slightly easier for normal.

I think we could have quite a bit of fun with that change for calus. But the dugcks will frustrate the fuck out of us on the way there. It also forces you to rotate spots for baths.

You have to rotate spots for that normally, anyway. Dont really like the Calus change for hard mode, as you can still avoid going to the shadow realm by not being the one to punch a psion.

For prestige, you get the emblem (its a blue emblem, not even a tracking legendary one? Come on Bungie), the gold aura (same as prestige nightfall/trials, but gold), the ornament for Acrius (if you're at that stage of the quest) and slightly different coloured armour....unless you're a Hunter, then your cloak is the same as normal. Wtf? (Unknown_Player, the youtube guy, got the cloak and the icon is different. That was it.)

Edit: Forgot, you only get normal raid tokens per encounter as well, which, I'm guessing, means you cant do both the normal and prestige for tokens (not that you'd want to!).

37.7gb :o Thank christ there's a preload, I'll just keep chipping away at it over the week.

Holy shit  clippa that was 45 mins for me. Get ready for some hardcore lag. If it's less than 100 gigs I count my blessings these days.

Can people stop laughing at my tiny winky :( I could switch to fibre optic for an extra tenner a month but the games I usually buy are tiny, I wouldn't be getting my monies worth. I get around 800kbs, meh, it's good enough for me.

You will love crucible with such a shit net connection ;)

TWAB. Raid challenge modes launch starting 31 Oct:

Quote

You have yet to master every aspect of the Leviathan. Starting on October 31, we will be adding an optional challenge to a different raid encounter each week to spice things up. We won’t be giving you any hints on how to complete these challenges, but we will let you know when you fail with an in-game message. Your Director will tell you what is at stake each week.

You are probably asking, “What do we get for completing it?”

Glad you asked. You will receive a new emblem for each Raid Challenge you complete. You are also guaranteed a raid drop for that encounter. You have some time to start thinking about what extra challenges lie ahead. Let the speculating begin!

PC launch schedule:

Oh, I forgot to mention this: no more Trials for at least a couple of weeks.

Quote

Trials of the Nine
As a follow-up to reported incidents of emote glitching in the Crucible, we are investigating a fix that we plan to deploy during the first week of November. In the meantime, the next two instances of Trials of the Nine will be postponed. Please stay tuned for updates. We will provide more information as it becomes available. At this time the next instance of Trials of the Nine is forecasted to resume on November 3, 2017.

To be fair, if you're going to take down an online game mode, the Ministry of Silly Walks Exploit is probably the best way you could accomplish it. Can't wait to see what happens when they introduce the Beat Up A Spanish Waiter emote in the next DLC.

You have to hand it to Bungie, they have stepped up their administration of the game to prestige levels. So they hand out two week bans to players caught DDOS'ing in trials... then cancel trials the next two weeks for everyone anyway due to the silly walks exploit. :sealclap:

I feel a bit sorry for them (Bungie). I know it's a mess entirely of their own making but the way their flagship game is unravelling is quite sad :(

The worst thing is they really don't seem to give a fuck. 'What's that? Players leaving in throngs due to no endgame and incredibly unrewarding loot? I know, let's give them an emblem for doing challenge mode! They'll come swarming back. We'll also show those cheaters by banning them from Trials two weeks - plus everyone else because we done fucked up an emote and we can't possibly do anything like disabling it because it may impact our Golden Goose Tess - but yeah, take that cheaters!!'

Dare I ask, Silly Walk emote glitch?

A emote Tess was selling 2(?) weeks ago mimics John Cleese's funny walk from Monty Python

But it moves you back slightly - so if you do it against walls (and crouch after I think) you can glitch through them

Edit - I think the problem comes from that lots of people bought it (for Silver, and/or Real Money). They removed it from the shop pretty quickly, but they don't seem to want to block/remove it from people - presumably because it'll create a massive stink - even if they only turned it off for 2 weeks ("not what I paid for!!!" etc)

It allows you to glitch through any wall in seconds so it's ideal for trials! The problem they seem to have is _some_ people paid for it (via silver rather than rng) so they can't simply take it away from everyone till they fix it. So instead they are taking away the end game PvP that _everyone_ paid for instead. Way to go!

I'm starting to think a lot the current state of the game can be blamed on the PC version. Right now I suspect the entire studio is in crunch mode finishing the PC version and they don't have anyone working on improving the end game or making things like a festival of light. I'm sure the game would be in a better place if the PC version had launched with the console versions in September.

The 'Seasons' reveal today is going to be very important for the future of this game. Bungie really need to start properly acknowledging the massive issues with the end game and lay out a detailed plan of how they are going to turn it around. It's not going to be fixed overnight but they need to start the communication fast. The TWAB yesterday clearly shows they have no fucking idea what they are doing with the announcement of an emblem and a guaranteed drop (gee thanks) from the prestige challenge mode.  No thanks.

If 'Seasons' are as ill thought out and lazily executed as the loot chests/lost sectors/clans/faction rally then this game could be in serious trouble.

Destiny 2 is that friend or colleague we all have who is a magnet to bad things and does not seem capable to dealing with any of it in a rational manner.

"We discovered an unfortunate side effect to one of the emotes that a small percentage of our user base is abusing to get ahead. We are working very hard to resolve this issue and have decided to remove the emote from the game until further notice. Users who purchased the emote will have their silver refunded"

There, sorted.

God, I’ve never seen a game encourage hyperbole like this one does. It’s about a month since launch, and in that time they’ve been constantly scrambling to release fixes and sort people’s issues with the game. There’s no company on earth that could handle the insane amount of entitled whining they’re having thrown at them, and on top of that people genuinely seem to expect them to go “yeah the game is shite isn’t it?”, rather than doing what all companies do and acknowledging the feedback in a positive way. If you think they’re not working round the clock to get content added you’re insane.

But yeah, they don’t give a fuck.

Can we agree that Destiny is 3 years old.

Obviously they give a fuck but they're incredibly shit with customer feedback and information. A lot of these arguments wouldn't have happened with the original because it was the first go in a new direction and they'd be forgiven for making mistakes but they've done that, they've released an expansion that was great and had meaningfull endgame content, QOL fixes and (some) good loot and they seem to have thrown the baby out with the bath water in making the sequel (and it was the same core group of developers, not the live team so changing devs can't be the excuse).

Can you imagine if EA were launching Battlefront 2 with less content than the first, after the first was utterly pillared for being a shell of a game? The comparison may be a touch hyperbolic* because D2 has plenty of good things about it but instead of building a roof on what they'd learned with the original, they seems to have gone back to the foundations again and it's quite mystifying.

*only a touch because in December we'll have the first DLC and at that point (2 weeks after) we got a second raid in D1, which all signs point to not happening this time so yes, D2 by Dec will have less content than D1.

If only they had an easy source of content, say 40 or so missions, 15 strikes, 4 raids and a load of PvP maps from an old game they could have used as a base to build upon instead of having to start from scratch. They could even have stuck them in heroic meditations or something if needed lore wise.

Anyway, thats besides the point, its not the lack of content thats killing the game currently its the complete lack of depth.

That's totally fair, I was always of the opinion that throwing away everything from the first game was a fucking stupid idea. Relatively sure I got told that I was being an idiot for saying that in the original thread though. Probably because I don't raid.
