@clippaPersonally: I just love playing it. I love the feel of the game. I like the new approach to level design in the open world. I like the shooting. I like the crucible. I like the simplified PvP playlists. I like the 4v4 focus. I like the progression. I like/love the raid. in a parallel universe without MIDA and Hunters this is my favourite game of all time. ;)

Me neither. What's the general consensus here, rllmuk still happy with it? I've only seen grumbling elsewhere.

I love it. I don't have anywhere near the amount of time now that I had to play Destiny 1 so the changes that have been made suit me perfectly. I don't have to do loads of grinding and the movement and shooting are still as great as the first game. I'm sitting at around 295 Power and am still yet to even set foot in the raid. Probably be a few weeks until the rest of my buddies are ready to raid and we're still all completely in the dark.

I quick glance on DestinyTracker tells me that I've already had over 55 hours worth of gaming out of my purchase so... yay :)

I still dont understand your issue with Mida (and Hunters are actually really gimped). I sorted a PvP set last night (zero class specific mods btw, all reload/recoil mods with an armour and recovery mod), and I didnt use Mida at all and still wrecked people - depending on the size of the map, I used Origin Story (or Antiope-D), The End (or The Number/Uriels) and Legend of Acrius (or Wardcliff's which is also funny in pvp as it hits from miles away, unlike in pve), and its really fun to play. I'm still not keen on 4v4 and the really long cooldowns in general, but its not terrible. What is terrible, is the simplified PvP playlists, as you have no choice of game type - Seriously, Supremacy can go do one. I had that 4 times in a row last night, multiple times.....

In a nut shell: there has been large drop off last two weeks (after most people have played more than 200 hours). everyone thinks the game is great and plays well. most people don't really like crucible (mainly @Jerec and @Shimmyhill). some are disappointed with exotics and generally the fact that weapons don't stand out enough. @Gorf King does not like the 'end game' progression and rewards. people enjoyed the campaign but the humor does not hit for everyone nor does the voice acting. the main nemesis is good but some people did not like the end very much. the raid is not the best one but it is very enjoyable. and @Captain LeChuck is disappointed with the story elements of the raid.

Think I was around 140 hours but now deleted and I have had no urge to go back :( campaign was great fun as are Nightfall’s but there is nothing to do in the game as no reason play on - I have all the exotics, every bit of exotic armour and pretty much every armour set. I despise PvP and honestly if I never played PvP again I wouldn’t care at all and can’t see that mindset changing unless Bungie completely overhaul it and that’s not happening!

It does feel like there is a hole in my gaming life as I expected to love this and to a degree I have but me and my main fireteam chums were talking about it today and the general feel is there is more content than vanilla Destiny but it’s spread much thinner with less to do, no reason to do it, no compulsion to grind out rewards and far less choic in how you play it.

I find the mobility of hunters annoying in crucible. they are annoying is all. but not overpowered like they used to be. antiope eludes me but looks really fun. I like last hope at lot actually. wish it did not have to go in the uriels slot.

I wouldn't say I dislike the Crucible, it can be great fun and its one of the best features of the game.

I just didn't like the new system of random games. Im a fucking adult and should be allowed to play what I want.

Also Control, although I've not gotten used to it, is still a pale version of its former self and thats a real shame because I liked the slightly slower paced play it gave you rather than the desperate mad Benny Hillesq ping-ponging around trying to hold  2 of the 3 zones whilst under a constant barrage of fire.

Countdown is a fantastic game of skill, cat and mouse that requires some planning and thought, its great.

What we don’t love about this game is the PS4 crashing last night right when we were about to sack off the Raid boss. Restarted just to hear party chat screaming to join back in ASAP and the general confusion as to if they should pump that last bullet into him or not. Bloody Titan.

What is it about the mobility of Hunters that annoys you? Because funnily enough, their mobility annoys me too.

It's a bit odd your hiding fast to Uriel's when it uses the same perk - that many PvPers find abhorrent - which the despised MIDA does: high caliber rounds. And that, and its range, are why Uriel's is one of the meta weapons in that slot alongside, you guessed it, Last Hope. Both *massively* out-ranging almost anything else in their classes, which suits the maps. These are all the epitome of top-of-tree weapons, and may be the holy trinity of the meta. Or 'overpowered' as some might put it. Except, really, they're not. It's HCR being spread liberal about, and team-shooting across mid-log sightlines, which favour things with (you guessed it) HCR and mid-long range accuracy. Oh, and the sloth-like radar in the new game blows MIDA an extra kiss.

Main reasons I barely play any more are a) I don't find the raid very interesting for repeat plays (the initial blind run was challenging but subsequent runs just felt increasingly unengaging encounters that made no sense, for poor rewards that encouraged grinding not because the rewards were attractive but because the RNG seemed weighted towards giving useless duplicates); b) those rewards in the game as a whole (there's no holy grails, real game-changers, to go after); c) there's no depth to customisation - the subclasses don't give you anything to play around with, the weapons are all static rolls (and once you have a small number of top tier ones, you're done anyway), as with armour, there's no perks on those to play around with anyway, the mods system is massively underdeveloped and only marginally effective, etc; d) there's no 'story' at all, no lore, beyond the FMV in the campaign at the start, and the replacement for grimoire cards (the odd exotic screen and your Ghost's bletherings when you scan an alien object and he tells you it looks spooky/dangerous/alien) are a joke; e) no real secrets to discover or surprises to unearth or even, at this point, to hope for; f)-i) more stuff like that.

In short, it just doesn't have enough depth. Which is why a lot of people have moved on from it far sooner than they did the previous game. The brass hat for me is making all the PvP restricted to 4s, which just divorces it from the PvE game team you're in, and along with the degrading of abilities (unless you're a dual-pulse-wielding Titan) turns it into the team-shooting heavy game that it is, with a lot less individual flamboyance. You definitely feel a lot less of a 'legend' in this one, and I liked the superpowered, crazy flavour of it before - both to play and to watch.

The campaign's a lot better and easier to follow than D1's, and the way it opens up mid-game activities and progression is a lot more understandable, but beyond that it's a lot more flawed, and a lot less rewarding and replayable, than I'd expect from the team that made most of D1 and improved that as it went on - especially since development was branched off at the point of TKK, which had many more layers and much more by way of variety, depth and customisation, than D2. And TTK had an infinitely better story, too, which oddly enough is one of the 'improvements' many people say D2 has made. D2's certainly not a bad game, and I'm 100% certain Bungie will improve aspects of it as we go on, but for me it feels like a case of one step forward, and two or three steps back. And unfortunately, I don't think they're likely to put some of the things I liked most about D1, and which I thought its defining qualities - the grimoire, PvP 6s and super abilities, the customisation (which I'd hoped they'd expand upon rather than contract), the gloriously covetable super weapons and armour - back into the game. I just think it's become more a standard shooter, and less ambitious than D1 was. The first game was massively flawed, but it always felt like it was overreaching itself and constantly stumbled along the way. This feels like it has less vision and has settled for something that just doesn't inspire as much. It plays things far too safe and small-scale in the end, as if it fears it'll do something outrageous and embarrassing if it stretches its wings in the glare of the public spotlight like its predecessor did. Son of Icarus pursues a career in middle management at Bernard Matthews. Does very well for himself, I'm sure.

Tl;dr - turkey drumsticks.

Last night we all got stuck in spectator mode after a boss wipe. Individuals going to orbit and rejoining loaded them into the room, but eventually we all had to quit and run back to the throne room.

He died shortly afterwards to our anger-fuelled "last go".

The team awarded world's first were using an ammo glitch. Naughty naughty,

If its the one I know about, anyone can do it in game using Wardcliff Coil and swapping to another heavy.

Likely get fixed now its being highlighted due to the prestige raid, even though its been in the game since launch.

Pathetic response from Bungie about the exploit used to get worlds 1st

Quote

We have seen the reports that an ammo exploit was used today in the Prestige Raid. This was not the specific exploit we were checking for and we don’t currently have the ability to detect it. Tomorrow we will release the top 3 finishers in the TWAB. You can make your own decision as to who should be celebrated.

Such a cop out with indisputable video proof from the streams, especially as they said this last week when they delayed it a week

An exploit has been discovered in the Leviathan Raid that causes the encounters to be stripped of their intended challenge. To allow time to fix this issue, we are delaying the start of the Prestige Raid until next week. It’s important to us that the team who earns World First status doesn’t have their legacy tarnished by doubt, skepticism, or uncertainty.

They used a different exploit that was known since D2 launched, not the exploit that Bungie was monitoring.

But really, who cares about this by the end of the day. Nobody but the media outlets who report about any bloody thing Destiny 2 related. Tomorrow, we'll read about "Raid Teams Who Are Upset With Bungie" and "Watch This 10 Minute And 5 Seconds Video Where We Take Our Sweet Time Explaining How This Exploit Works".

so what's different about prestige then?

Spoiler

Off the top of my head:

Everyone has to take a turn running in the gauntlet and shielded psions appear every time someone jumps through a gate. More dogs in the gardens. Bathers are more frequent and leave a damaging pool when they die. When you melee a psion in the throne room you swap places with someone in the other dimension.

oh well that all sounds quite awesome actually. particularly keen on the last bit you mentioned.
