Ooooh! Still looking forward to this despite all the internet grumbling.

At the bear minimum this will be an extremely good campaign for you. I think most complains you have heard kick in on hour 200. No need to worry. This plays amazing on PC as well. They have nailed that headshot feeling on mouse and keyboard too.

Yeah, I played the beta, the shooting was fab. Just seen a lot of folk around the net moaning about the endgame and this and that.

All coming from people who have finished the campaign three times and done the raid etc

Still worth the price of admission in any case. :D

Long post incoming, sorry. What vendors could be like...

And Heroic lost sectors....

Some really nice ideas there.

Edit: The game has some pretty big issues, despite people trying to make out everything in the garden is rosey. Endgame is a bit stale, probably more so than Destiny 1 for me as the Crucible is so meh compared to how it was in D1, but I still do a bit of farming for tokens now and then as I still want some guns, along with having power level 300 scouts.

I think one of the main issues is with duplicates, and this is especially obvious with Iron Banner. There are many many reports of players getting zero armour pieces after 40 rank ups, which is an obscene amount of time played. No Iron Banner drops at the end of any matches is a massive mistake. Easy fixes; have drops at the end of matches again that match your power level or greater (if lower than 300), and maybe allow tokens to be used to buy the piece you want at 5 lower power.

If they did this with all the vendors, it would stop a lot of the complaints, but not all, as there is a lack of content at the end of the day. The above 2 ideas taken from reddit would alleviate this quite a bit I think. People need things to aim for that are realistic. Iron Banner atm is not realistic in its reward structure.

In before "Oh my god, I cant be arsed to read all that" from the usual moany suspects. The post is probably not for you, and thats fine.

I dunno, they left Crucible in a pretty abysmal state in D1. I slightly prefer getting team shot by Scouts over Icebreakers (at least you have the option to, you know, react), or random sticky 'nades that probably weren't even meant for me. Not to mention getting shat on by those lucky enough to get a god roll gun.

The sweet spot was probably somewhere between HoW / TTK tbh.

Aye, there was a year between House of Wolves and the Taken Spring when the Crucible provided the best times I've ever had in FPS PvP. The supposed 'balance' swung one way and the other, as did the various metas, but it never failed to entertain. Obviously the last gasp Y3 special ammo nerf, along with some other nerfs and the weird reintroduction of Icebreaker, fucked it all up. I had the feeling they'd just abandoned the D1 PvP model by then and decided to throw the whole mess against a wall and forget about the pieces.

Y'know, even the Thorn days were kinda fun. As were the blink shotgun days, the final round days, the days of the endless snipe, the Hawkmoon fests, the insane Truth round-the-map-twice team kills, the first brief blush of Nirwen's, and all the rest of them. It's not rose-tinteds either. It was just a thrill to play, and swear about, and roll around in doing mad things. It was imbalanced though, even after HoW. Of course, you'd never get something OP like every class having access to sticky nades now. You just get one subclass with two everlasting thermonuclear pulse nades instead, and a shotgun that can only come from the raid quest which is about 200% better than any other shottie out there.

(In case it's not obvious, I actually like the raid shottie. I just wish there was a lot more 'imbalanced' stuff like it out there that everyone could get if they really wanted it.)

Nightfall is... Exodus Crash. With Prism and Rings.

Rings are ok as it's easy to know if you've got max time (or close) or not

Prism - bonza! A night power increasing one you can plan for with decent loads.

I think you can shoot that invisible bastard off the wall if you spot him. He doesn't disappear, he jumps on the wall...

He's still a cunt though

could you please elaborate on this cheese? asking for a friend.

There's at least one video of it, haven't tried it myself yet.

When you inflict a certain amount of damage I always assumed he just disappeared entirely while you dealt with adds, however it seems he jumps onto the walls around the room and climbs about for a set amount of time before jumping back in. He's not easy to spot on the walls as the invisibility is pretty good. The video shows the player spot him, shoot him and he just falls to his death with almost a full bar.

Whether it happens every time or was a glitch I'm not sure. I was planning to run the normal strike first to test the cheese hypothesis. Foe tracer should help spot him.

I guess the raid was added post launch. But it will take a while to get to that level even if available at launch. The real question is whether it will be aligned from launch with the console rotation or lagging behind or having its own rotation of nightfall xur etc.

Bungie have said the PC version will be synchronised - it makes no sense for them to have to run different rotations of Nightfalls and events. Plenty of people will be raid ready during or at the end of week one, as they were on console - the PC crowd will be uber ready. It's just a shame they'll have difficulty doing it blind (assuming they care), although future content inc raids will supposedly come out simultaneously across platforms so that should be fine.

They might bring the first raid out a week after main game release like they did on console, just to stagger content. (It was obviously finished at launch. All this stuff is, it's just released on a schedule.)
