Destiny 2: Lightfall

I actually really enjoyed Cruicible last night (Fireteam of 2 then 3) - still miss the super magic, but comms with chums made it fun

The Pulse Rifle is pretty good, but can't see it replacing Three Graves for me.

What didn't feel good though was handing in 100 tokens from 2-3 hours play and getting 5 duplicates of items I'd already had (included 3 hands in the 5!)

As they've severely limited infusion their pretty much all pointless.

I've trashed all the loot I got from IB, the only plus to it is the new narration.

I would keep one of each if I were you. Particularly the pulse will be good if they give a buff to the weapon type. I got the fusion yesterday and also liked it.

As a filthy casual I'm up to 286 now, slow but steady progress, always getting something worthwhile for my efforts.

It seems to me that while there might be some point to playing this all week, it also means a lot of time wasted. I'm a Tues-Thurs kinda Guardian. Fri-Mon is the long weekend where nothing happens. Some might be over 300 because of it, but that doesn't appear to be helping them against me in Iron Banner.

I’ve played this, enjoyed it, got bored, uninstalled, reinstalled, got bored again, took a week off, played again, still bored. I just can’t get hooked on it like I did with Destiny 1. There was always something to do like levelling up a gun or collecting materials. Fair enough, that could be seen as tedious but it felt like I had a reason to play the game. Now it’s just log in and complete a few milestones, then wonder what to do next. It’s all just too clinical. The RNG in the original was extremely random but at least you knew you’d get a couple of level boosting engrams from a strike every once in a while. Maybe it took 5 days to get them but you knew that sooner or later you’d get a welcome boost. Now strikes seem absolutely pointless. They were my core component of Destiny 1 and for whatever reason have been replaced by public events.

I’ve also noticed a clear drop off of people playing this on my friends list. I’m obviously not the only one that is struggling a bit to get into this.

Same mate, I felt that after 2 weeks of playing, bar the raid there was nothing else to do except start again on my Titan or Hunter.

I think D1 hooked some many people because it was new and the way it did things and rewarded people and teams was very addictive, but by the time D2 has come along and its doing the same thing albeit prettier and refined, but its just more of the same thing. And that doesnt wash anymore.

The fact I have no inclination to start another character really surprises me.

I think PUBG is going to really eat into Destiny 2’s playerbase when it arrives on console. Hardly the most comparable of games but you can just sense it’s the next big thing and people are going to flock to it in droves.

Obviously it already is the king on PC but there’s a whole substantial new audience out there on Xbox and PS4.

Got myself the IB chest and Binding. Two down, three to go.

On Tuesday I believe it was, scruff and myself were getting schooled by a 4-man premade. The end result was something like 101 - 15 with me having an efficiency less than 0.10. No fun that was.

You have to reload it after each shot?!

I’ve just turned it back into ten shards, it can sit in my collection just in case they buff the fuck out of it at some point.

I’ve got that stupid wing jacket and the Titan legs are for submachine guns which I don’t use. So maybe not a great week after all

Yeah, I think - and I never thought I'd say these words - this is one instance where Lechuck won't change his mind.

The idea is there but cripes Bungie, you really need to work on the implementation.

Actually it's better than I thought. The "rapid kills perk" can, apparently, be actives by Fireteam kills. So you damage them and team mates finish them off to keep firing grenades...

Yeah it's still bobbins.

I fully appreciate D2 is a far more friendly and easier experience for casual players, and its a far more complete game than vanilla Destiny. After playing solidly since launch I think i’m Kind of done for the time being. I’ve hit light 302 and although I enjoy the crucible, the rinse repeat grind is wearing very thin indeed for me.

I understand the mechanics far better with the help of a few kind souls on here, and thoroughly enjoyed the nightfall strikes, but when they become the same thing more or less I kind of switch off. There just seems far less to do and the tracking of what you have done is sorely missed.

I imagine big changes are set to come to keep the die hards from leaving in droves.

surely if he has not repeated an exotic in all these weeks they must not be random right? there has to be some sort of schedule? wonder if the schedule will be remixed for the PC version. will it be aligned with consoles upon release or will they start fresh for PC as D2 when it first launched.

I think he had wings of sacred dawn on week 1.
