JohnC
New season out. Almost didn't want to watch ep 3 when the caption came up at the start
Matt Defis
Just watched episode 3, one of the hardest, most upsetting and heartbreaking things I've watched, struggled to get through it. I started crying the second that one word name for the episode came up.

Pete
Nearly finished, not as good as the other two series but some really good moments. Thought the learning Welsh episode and moon episode were daft.
Mike S
Yeah, this was weaker than the first two seasons. Some of that, for me, will be down to Colman as I find her to be really quite irritating, but I'm also not a huge fan of the new Philip either (although his voice seemed bang on). There is certainly none of the brilliance of Foy and Smith, both of whom I found extremely watchable. That said, the first half of the series was still pretty good but it really dropped off with the Charles sub-plot. He was tiresomely dopey which does not bode well for the next season when, I assume, he will be front and centre.
Cosmic_Guru
Basically this has gone really soapy, other than the Aberfan episode of course which was devastating. Lots of factual embellishment and mangling of timelines to get the somewhat heavy handed point of the episode over. Still enjoyable mind. Really liked Phil the Greek, his mum, Anne, Wilson in particular. Space hoppers during the moon landings .
Fierce Poodle
Fuck me, the Queen is a real cold-hearted bitch to Charlie in this.
Huz
Between this and the Gordonstoun episode last series, The Crown seems to be working quite hard to make us feel sorry for Charlie. Worked on me!
JohnC
Season 5 to be the last, with Imelda Staunton as Lizzie. https://deadline.com/2020/01/the-crown-netflix-royal-drama-to-end-with-season-five-as-imelda-staunton-1202847789/

Popo
Am I the only one enjoying it more and more with each passing season? I think it’s lovely.
Triple A
Even with S3 being more soapy than the other seasons this is still a great show. Bit disappointed by this news, The Crown could run and run and it’s a shame we won’t see their take on the more recent decades. No doubt the production costs a pretty penny and with so much new hype creating stuff coming out, perhaps they can’t get enough viewers to warrant doing it anymore. And by putting production money elsewhere they can say they have more originals etc. The digital shopfront effect continues! That or Clarence House PR ninjas got to them - one can’t have the show cover the 90s now, can one? (#tinfoilhat #unlikely?) Especially after recent events. Fierce Poodle
I suppose they could always do occasional one-off updates, for example when Andrew gets banged up for fucking children.

gone fishin
Thinking back, the third series was pretty much forgettable and I'm not sure if it's down to the script, the actors of the focus for the "characters". Olivia Coleman came across as very "stoic", but again was quite forgettable with actually hardly any input into the storylines at all, almost coming across as a bystander. I know that the third series didn't perform very well in terms of what little information Netflix publishes (well, it didn't make the top ten watched programs) and I wonder if it's down to people just not watching it at all or if there was significant drop off after the first couple episodes. I really enjoyed SE 1&2 (my wife was watching it, I had zero interest and then got hooked). But SE3 for me was just a bit Meh. I was bored to be honest. JohnC
Morgan changed his mind. It's gone back to the original plan of 6 seasons instead of stopping at 5. Apparently that doesn't mean it gets closer to the present day than 5 would have, they're just using more time to explore the planned era, up to the early 2000s.
