So I started this show last night based on the rave reviews. Am two episodes in and loving it.

Great performances from Foy, Smith and Lithgow, sumptuous production values, and not afraid to call out Prince Philip's gaffes and insinuate the royals' "nazi links".

Hooked, and will hunker down this weekend to see much more.

A couple more episodes in and I can't praise this enough.

I saw the soapy bit with the bus that Cosmic mentioned and see where he's coming from, but I'm also conscious that the show is an entertainment drama and I think it treads the line between dramatisation and documentation very well.

I've found the show somewhat educational (perhaps a reflection of my ignorance lol) - and while I understand that it will cover QEII's 60-year or so reign over 6 seasons, I'd love it to go even more back in time as well. Or maybe that's an opportunity for another show, done to this standard.

It's confirmed to be 6 seasons long? Oh man...

It's going to be a while before the Diana years...

Cosmic is a lady btw.

Anyway ive been waiting for this thread to appear. This is easily one of the best drama's for a long time.  Its pretty much unsurpassed for me, visually, dramatically and aurally.

There's not a member of the cast that hasnt brought their A-game.

I personally have a lot of issues with Churchill and his politics, but fuck me if I didnt have to stop watching one episode because I was about to start greeting.

Do you mean it's not represented correctly or having it shown annoys greatly?

Where did my Saturday go? I just binged 8 of the 10 Season 2 episodes and finally noticed I haven't eaten all day. I know they need age appropriate actors going forward, but it's a shame.

It’s a real shame, Foy is magnificent in doing a lot with very little, and Smith seems much more real than he was in season one. The investiture is beautifully awkward.

I'm loving this as well, am 8 episodes in but currently taking a short break for The Punisher, then gonna go straight back to this! It looks beautiful, the acting is good (I was worried I wouldn't be able to buy Smith as Philip, now I can't imagine anyone else doing it! Will be interesting once season 3 comes along...)

There is a quite beautiful moment,  I think the very final shot

the family portrait - all the noise and fuss and Phillip explodes “oh for gods sake shut up. You - take the bloody picture.” You watch Clare Foy at that point and she’s looking away so he can’t see her smile affectionately. It sums up the entire season so elegantly. Wonderful writing.

Conversely, I can’t wait to see Olivia Coleman as the Queen! :P

I watched the first season while recovering from a tonsillectomy and while I thought it was good I can’t help but feel my attention and enjoyment was sapped by the tears-inducing pain I was experiencing at the time. The second season felt even better - I’m not sure if that’s objective or due to the aforementioned, but I zipped through it very quickly!

Claire Foy will be a very tough act to follow - I can’t agree enough about Matt Smith as Philip, he stole almost every scene. I thought it drooped slightly when it followed Princess Margaret and her love interest, but Vanessa Kirby was just so god damn glamorous I think she rescued it from the brink of tedium.

Deeply enthused to hear about Gillian Anderson - a pity we will have to wait until next year to see her do Thatcher, that promises to be a treat.

Thatcher could turn up at the end of Season Three, surely? Let her get some Milk Snatching in at the end of the series before the Winter of Discontent, Miners Strike and Diana in Season Four?
