Nintendo calls it a “full-sized Super Mario Bros. action platformer that has been developed specifically for mobile”

According to Nintendo, “iOS users will be able to download and enjoy a portion of Super Mario Run for free and will be able to enjoy all of the game content available in this release after paying a set purchase price. ” Fans will also be able to nab Super Mario stickers for iMessage.

Bummed out for the choice of the NSMB aesthetic as well. I suppose it was inevitable as Nintendo isn't going to give Mario a fresh coat of paint for a mobile game. Still, would have been great to see something with Galaxy's aesthetic on mobile.

I actually think that looks like it has potential! Not the biggest fan of the NSMB visual style either, but it's not enough to put me off.  Some neat concepts shown in the trailer, it defo looks like a very Nintendo take on a runner :D I like the reverse tiles, and the 5 pink coins per stage.  Hopefully the pink coins mean there will be a map screen  and an option to return and do levels for 100%'ing?  And man, if there are secret exits and something like ghost houses/switch palaces it could be mega!

See,  Nintendo are obviously putting a lot of love into making a Mario game work on mobile. Outside of the Mario maker series,  I think Nintendo have stopped with 2d Mario on console / hand held and this is where this game will shine.

I was expecting some bog standard runner but this seems like a complete game as it is.

Let's not forget some of us paid full price for that mobile like yoshi game on the DS ( think it was yoshi touch and go) so it's nice to see Nintendo putting the effort into this.

I like the look of this. It looks like they're basically wringing every drop of depth that a one-button runner game could possibly provide. In that regard, it sort of works as an advert for proper Mario games - like, "OK, playing with this at the bus stop is fun, but just imagine how much better a proper Mario game is!", which I suspect is exactly their plan.
