What is spinning on your turntable?

Haven't posted in here for a while but have had quite a lot of new stuff I should have shown off.

Things that haven't made the gallery are electro albums and 12"s by Plant43, Pye Corner Audio remix 10", a fantastic electronic album with some ropey artwork by Sound Synthesis (Hum of Human Dreams) and a few releases from the Castles in Space subscription library.

Those making the gallery are:

A DJ Shadow remix of a King Gizzard track. If I'm being honest, I know nothing about the band and only bought it because of the Shadow connection.

It's a beautiful looking disc, I took its photo against a white backdrop as the black slipmat didn't do it justice.

As usual with Shadow, it's a great remix, but... It's three and a half minutes long and the B side is the same track but backwards. It's essentially a massive waste of plastic as it could have been a 7"

From left to right:

Piccadilly Records 2022 compilation - A decent mix of genres and artists from the best record shop around.

Home Listening Acid and House - Quite chilled 303 tunes, really melodic as opposed to old school rave bangers like most Acid themed stuff these days.

Gilbert - Shift the Focus EP - A throwback to early bleepy Warp type techno.

Monochrome Echo - The City and the Stars - Another great album from the Castles in Space label, the only record subscription I've ever had and it's fantastic value for money.

I think ‘Love Comes Quickly’ really is one hell of track.

The whole album is fantastic, one of the best examples of remix albums I can think of. Short in that it has 6 tracks but jam packed with quality.

The full horror remix of Suburbia is just sublime.

Yeah you’re right. I’ve got the 12 of Suburbia and a few others.
I like how it lists Fairlight - Adrian Cook in the credits.  That was the machine of the hour eh.

I’ve been a bit grumpy lately and yesterday, presumably in an attempt to cheer me up my wife suggested I set my turntable up in the living room. It’s been either packed away or in my tiny bedroom for all that time. Rarely gets used. Well of course I spent last night clearing, rigging it up and sorting records for some lovely Sunday morning coffee listening.

Will likely be grumpy again in a few weeks but for now this has made me happy.

That sounds like just about the best tonic you could get.

Setting up hi-fi is one of life's true pleasures.

I was doing mine in Christmas day as I couldn't wait after getting it all out of storage during building work ☺️

I’m gonna get my passive bookshelf speakers out the loft later but I need an amp, preferably one with a phono stage.

Looking at the NAD 3020 V2 the modern one.  Anyone got one or know an alternative. Must have…

Phono Stage (Though could use my existing external one but would be nice to save plugs)

Optical In

Preferably Bluetooth

Small footprint

Only reason I’ve not jumped on the Nad is that the V2 doesn’t have a USB in but it’s probably not that important.

It's been good today. Enjoyed quite a few old classics.

Forgotten how much of an absolute 80's banger this was and it's exactly the sort of album that I am never going to get round to listening to digitally. It's a big fat soul record in places and reminded me a lot of what I got out of listening to early Amy Winehouse for some reason.

RIP Yuki. One of the true greats.

He released Neuromantic in the same year as YMO's Technodelic and BGM, which is just showing off really.
