What is spinning on your turntable?

That's a sweet system, very clean looking. What speakers are they?

18 records is a good start, wait till you hit discogs, then you'll be thinking "I'm paying for postage anyway so adding a couple more records to this order is actually saving me money!"

They look more expensive than they are really, they are the Q Acoustics 3020i:

Well worth what I paid for them so far.

That’s similar to my system - Rega P2, Q3020’s (both in white) and a Marantz amp. I never understood the wanky muso articles talking about the percussion having ‘authority’ until I heard this setup. Enjoy :)

This is my favourite looking record - it's a copy of the They Live ost that I picked up at a special screening at the Prince Charles Cinema.

Do you have a Sonos setup for your records? It’s something I’m looking into but I wonder if the sound would be too... cold/sterile?

Yes, I have turntable into preamp into Sonos 5. The Sonos 5 is paired with another so it's 'proper' stereo etc.

And no, I find it sounds fantastic. The room tuning, you have to be careful and make sure you tune in corners and stuff, does a really good job of removing boominess as I have the speakers in the corners of the room.

It really sounds engaging.

Got a couple of Neil Young records from my dad that I haven't spun yet, must give them a go.

Neil Young is a genius. Your records are (probably) Harvest and After the gold rush. Even if you find them too folk or hippy for your taste, go beyond. Zuma, Arc/weld, and so much more....

I’m almost jealous!

Yep, those 2 and Decade, if I remember correctly.

Just looked at his discography on spotify. Wow, that's a lot to take in

It grows every month with his Archive site! He's been releasing stuff left right and centre, very active. Its mostly collectors stuff. I got off the NY bus after "Sleeps with Angels" - probably his last great record.

I like this better than dopethrone

It is my favourite although Witchcult Today and Black Masses are also pretty decent. Rise Above are still selling the latter in various colours at a sane price.

A bit of this which I got last week.

And Ben Howard's new one arrived on Friday.

It's the deluxe vinyl, signed (actually on the the gatefold which pleases me no end). The marbled blue vinyl looks pretty boring on the turntable but awesome when up to the light.

It's a three sider so has some cool etchings on side D.

Currently listening to classic Italo piano house on this compilation from 1989 (yes, I'm old)

italia.thumb.jpg.95857c840d74a8373ee0f221d58c7c0d.jpg

Some obvious chart stuff (Ride on Time & Numero Uno) but still a great selection of Europe's finest dance tracks from back in the day.

The final track (Psycho Team - Psycho) is a total rip off of the KLF's What Time is Love but still sounds sweet.
