Netflix is obviously oversaturated with Marvel shows, so Jeph Loeb has moved on to Hulu for this one

Marvel’s comic book series about a disparate group of teenagers who discover that their respective parents are part of a crime organization known as “The Pride” has received a pilot order at Hulu, our sister site Deadline reports.

Upon realizing that their parents’ annual “charity” gathering is in fact a meeting of nefarious time-travelers, wizards, mad scientists, aliens and mutants, the teens band together to use their own, newly realized powers to vanquish The Pride and fend off any other threats.

There was a lot of speculation by Whedonites whether this might be turned into a show one day, so I wasn't surprised to see this popping up on my feed this morning.

I do like the premise very much, but yeah, @Andy_Why has a genuine concern here I think. But Schwartz also co-created Chuck, and I heard mostly positive things about that, so maybe it won't be all bad?

This could be good! I picked up most of it dirt cheap on eBay last year.

The story does rely on  having an established super hero universe which Marvel certainly have now. There is a regular stream of characters turning up including Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Luke Cage and Cloak and Dagger. So hopefully they will be able to have some level of cross over.

Quality wise it is a bit up and down, I don't think it really hit its full potential until Whedons run, after that it drops right off, then got cancelled!

James Marsters among the cast.

Marsters and Eureka star Ever Carradine will play genius engineering scientist Victor Stein and his perky-but-brilliant wife Janet, the parents of telepathic high school athlete Chase (Pretty Little Liars' Gregg Sulkin).

"Loud-and-proud nerd" Alex Wilder's (Rhenzy Feliz) scheming mum and dad are the intimidating enforcer Geoffrey Wilder (The Wire's Ryan Sands) and cunning lawyer Catherine Wilder (American Crime Story's Angel Parker), whereas amateur sorceress Nico Minoru (The Affair's Lyrica Okano) has serious issues with her 'tiger mom' Tina Minoru (Political Animals' Brittany Ishibashi) and tech wizard dad Robert Minoru (Daredevil's James Yaegashi).

Purple-haired psychic Gertrude Yorkes's (One Day at a Time's Ariela Barer) parents are bioengineers Dale Yorkes (Alias's Kevin Weisman) and Stacey Yorkes (Major Crimes' Brigid Brannagh).

Ruthless leader Leslie Dean (24's Annie Wersching) and her ex-teen idol husband Frank Dean (Ray Donovan's Kip Pardue) have big plans for their gorgeous light wielder daughter Karolina Dean (Project Almanac's Virginia Gardner).

I wonder how they are getting around using her given that she is a mutant?

Didn't know that, but looking into it, the original is Molly Hayes but this one is Molly Hernandez, so looks like they're tweaking her enough to make the issue go away.

Ah right, I expect her parents will have given her super soldier serum or gamma ray treatment or something instead.

I'm also expecting Nico not having to bleed to get her magic staff, I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread that self harm probably isn't best portrayed as a way to get special powers.

The comic's back now as well, probably off the back of this. The first two issues have been a good catch up on the characters so far.

I've watched the first 3 episodes today, and I'm happy to report that I'm not just going to stick with it out of a sense of duty. It's its own thing, not connected to anything else, and almost certainly all the better for not having to try to shoehorn something else in somewhere along the way.

There are now so many comics TV shows that it's getting hard to keep up. I literally need to spend a whole day watching them all!

Anyone still watching?

Spoiler

I still don't understand how Alex knew Tina's password.

OK, fine, he revealed to Nico that Amy hacked Tina two years ago... but that was two years ago, plus Tina knew she was hacked, so surely Tina would have changed he password after that?
