We seem to have gone full circle and now I would desperately love a return to WWII shooters.

No, the weapons are crap. The Modern Warfare games are the best. Current and near future weaponry only.

Right, because no one could make a fun and great feeling WW2 FPS...

Of course they could. Or they could make an even better game set in the current era.

That's just your bias talking.

Well, yes. It is of course my opinion. I do realise I was saying it like it was fact. Not sure why.

I'll let you off this time ;)

I did worry about the rumours of Battlefield 5 being set in WW1 for the same reason!

Aye. From fighter jets and attack choppers, to firing a handgun from a single prop. No thanks!

The weapons argument has always made no sense - you know you can take literally any weapon you like and reskin it as a space gun or a steampunk thing or a magic wand with no change in actual stats like fire rate, accuracy, ads time, etc?

You mean by modding on a PC?

If the developers ship a game set in WWII, using weapons that are as good as we have today, that would make no sense.

No I mean generally, aesthetics and functionality are completely separate, it's a videogame, you can do whatever!

Make no sense, you mean like recovering from being shot in the head in a few seconds by staying behind cover? No part of the games are realistic, come on.

Yeah I did mean why would the developer use a WWII setting, and use weapons that are as good as they are today.

But then, yeah, you're absolutely right :D

Nah, CoD 4 had something like 15 maps not including the DLC pack (and two of the DLC maps were great, that TV station one!).

Stuff has been cut. Granted, no one will miss Shipment or Bog if those are out. As long as it includes Vacant, Pipeline, Overgrown, Countdown and Crash I will be happy.

The clue is in your own argument, they will come as paid dlc or with the main game map packs. It'll get a years worth of support and updates. Total win-win.

I look forward to just buying the remastered game on it's own.  Please let it happen.

You'll be able to buy the codes off anyone willing to sell one, but considering a preorder personalisation pack code or nuketown code goes for 20 quid, good luck.

So I've got to order the legacy edition just to get modern warfare??

No thanks!!!!

Every year theres a base edition for 35 quid (if you shop around) and a hardened edition with a steelbook, extra dlc content, art book and so on. Only this year you're getting the most famous game in the franchise, remastered, for an extra 20 quid or so.  You shouldnt be complaining you should be celebrating, I know I am.  Incredible news.

If Shipment's not on there they've lost a sale. Shotguns on Shipment is the best thing ever.

Shipment, Vacant, Bloc & Crash were  my favourite maps.

I loved sniping people in the legs as they jumped out of a window on Bloc. It wouldn't kill them, but it would hurt them enough so that the suicided when they hit the ground.

But why can't they just sell it separately, maybe then when they see mw remastered sold more than their actual new game they will realise what kind of cod people like (that's my opinion angle, I don't dislike blops 3 just think the mw series is king)

I have zero interest in the new game. I haven't enjoyed a single Call of Duty since Black Ops 2. I just want the MW Remaster.

That'll be £79.99 then please, for the Legacy Edition from GAME and only GAME.

Because its standard marketing, why would you sell it separate when you can use it to sell your new game? You bundle it first, then maybe 4 months later you put it up on the store on its own for 20 quid, that way you clean up on both markets. Just like you sell a game at 50 quid to the day 1ers who will pay it, then reduce it down later to catch everyone who was on the fence. I wasnt buying EDF for 55 quid so I waited 5 months and I've paid 19.99. They knew I was a certain customer type, and that I would wait.

This whole myth about MW being the holy grail of cod fans too, honestly I watch and read a lot of cod coverage, the main audience is extremely happy with the game, blops3, the online, the dlc, its a smash. Youtube videos are bigger than ever on it, ali-a has over 3 million subscribers, its in rude health. This talk about 'showing the suits what the real fans want, MW' really is the simplistic viewpoint. You think activision arent aware of how to monetise their properties, how to extract maximum value from revenue streams?  Theyve waited til almost the 10 year point for it, we're getting a remaster that will promote IW and hoover up purchases from casual fans who want MW back, or people who insist that it's lost its edge since (I dont think it has, MW is great but its also a base, the main cod community expects a lot more sophistication).

So what are we getting. Base cod for the super casual modern players, and people who prefer not to shell out for a day 1 season pass.  Legacy edition including the extra fancy bits and the remaster, which always sells out and this year they will increase the production run, because it now catches the MW fans. The curious fans who have lost touch with the series, they now have to pay 50 quid entry - which is a bargain for me, IW will be great, MW will be great. Then like I say 4 months down the line once this initial new burst of people has calmed, xmas is over and the main surge for new copies is over, they will pop it on the marketplaces and cash in for 19.99 or something, all the people holding themselves as purists, who absolutely will not even try a modern cod because they might like it and have it smash their preconceptions, well those people can buy it on its own. They can feel like they've slightly cheated the system, as they are and remain purists, and everyone wins. Its brilliant, but its also standardised marketing, it happens in almost every field of selling. Tiers of customers, and people take pride in being a certain tier.

tl;dr, its like the year people all gathered together to get rage against the machine to british no.1 in the charts. We sure as hell smashed the system there. That music was owned by Sony and made them a fortune. Media companies like to whip up rivalries, have people take a side, then charge for entry to both sides. MW1 purists can enjoy their purity and disdain for modern cods, but they will put down their money, be it in November for 50 quid, or March for 20 quid, theyre still customers. Everyone wins.  And lastly...the MW1 remaster is ONLY coming into existance because the modern cod fans generate so much money for acti. No successful modern cod = no MW remaster for anyone.
