The multiplayer could become a guilty pleasure of mine if it wasn't so laggy. Whenever I play it I keep having to go back to Titanfall to see if it's my internet. It isn't and then I'm reminded that Titanfall is better anyway and stay with it.

Zombies also looks quite fun with its 80s shtick but I've never been into that mode and I died on the third wave playing solo. The good thing about that embarrassing event was I got to play some old Activision arcade games to earn a revive!

I know a lot of people didnt stick with the ghosts multiplayer so won't realise, but IW is a heavy reskin of it with some futuristic extras. I know the standard COD template is always the same, for example always 4 shotguns (one standard, one spreader, one hybrid and one long shotter) and so on. But really, this game is great and it is basically ghosts with a perk rejig and halo skin.

Big example: the map genesis on this, is an exact remake of strikezone from ghosts (the one that deformed after the nuke, with the hot dog stand). A lot of the weapons are nigh on the same models, like the vector SMG below given an extra mag, and the ARX, except with '3d printed ammo' or renaming the projectiles as energy and giving them a different graphic. Obviously they've adjusted some things and brought in the newer, more streamlined perk system...but make no mistake, this is a slicker version of ghosts in space.

48% down in sales compared to Blops3. Again, I really wish this had been a new franchise. Because now Activision are going to shit their pants and the next few CoD's will be the most boilerplate modern military dudebro shootmans you can imagine and I doubt we'll get anymore of this.

Blops is a huge name though, this is a new franchise.

Haha this is great news. Serves them right for putting invisible walls in their games. Assigning all 3 studios to futuristic COD, introducing pay-to-win microtransactions, ripping off TF, bundling MWR. Fuck you, Activision.

Did you do a scouser and let your kid on your account? The game is great.

'A slicker version of Ghosts' isn't going to be a selling point for many here ;)

of course, i'm not selling it, just demonstrating that it's the same studio, and how a lot of stuff is down to perception and reputation. You can see the DNA in IW, in fact I would argue the spawns in IW are less balanced than Ghosts. I killed someone yesterday in S+D by placing a tripmine on a spawn (unknowingly), and someone joining the game materialsed right on top of it, died, and that kill won the round (I only saw it becaue it was on the final kill cam).

The thing with games and the internet is you will always find someone to hate on something you like, plenty of forums are full of lunatics slagging it off without playing it and writing stuff like "fuck you activision", which I find embarrassing. I'm more of a glass half full person, I'd rather let myself take in a little of the hype, admittedly with caution....no season pass for me this time, absolutely no chance after BO3, and although this one has some clear pay content coming in terms of cod points and keys (which isn't in there yet btw, check the store), I notice the winncers circle (where yoiu displayed your wares in BO3) is now even briefer, the gestures and costimes less relevant than ever, and even more pointless to invest in than before.  Even the so called egregious PTW guns are tiny stat boosts, borderline insignificance, 15% less sway on a gun? Oh no!  You can use an extra attachment slot to add them yourself anyway, at barely any sacrifice to your pick-10.

I realise that's a slog to read that paragraph and I apologise, butif we're going to have to hear a shrew style bunch of complaints in the thread, I at least wanted to set the record straight. The microtransactions in this are utterly cosmetic, even less visible than before, and incude a couple of teeny tiny stat boosts not even as potent as attachments. So please, let's have less of the "fuck youuuu acti!" style nonsense, I read this forum to avoid that stuff.

Removing the key elements that have formed the backbone of COD multiplayer such as the 3 lane map system is suicide. If the maps don't flow and everything is 90 degree corners with multiple entry and exit points it will be impossible to get any kind of semblance or flow,  with kill streaks not gifted for skill or good control and play, and will be extremely frustrating for the novice and pro players alike. An hour with this on the beta was utterly joyless.

I think if you stack up all the cod  games from the past decade this would come last based on the MP offering and design decisions along with the inclusion of pay to play.  Without the remaster this would be filling the trade in shelves in a week once the campaign had been completed.

Coming off the back of the excellent Titanfall 2 campaign, I've started on this one and its pretty good so far. I played one level of BLOPS3 and that was enough (the MP more than made up for it mind!), but this one has started out quite promising. Still not a fan of the MP though.

The campaign is excellent and honestly I was genuinely surprised, probably my favourite COD campaign since COD2/COD4.  So it shows there's definitely some talent there at IW.  Been a strong year for single player FPS in general.  I also like *big game/ending spoilers*

how subversive it is, for a COD campaign at least.  The main character dies, there's serious consequences with practically everyone on the Retribution dying and only 4 people surviving.  I mean it's 'good' at the end as they destroy the spaceport and really cripple the SDF and the mission is a success but the cost/toll is REALLY high.  I thought that was cool.

The multiplayer is ok, I'll have some fun with it but the maps haven't really been that impressive so far.  I will give them kudos for the sound though, it's absolutely fantastic with every weapon sounding like a beast.

I'm not a huge zombies fan but I'll give it a go, it's supposed to be less complicated and less annoying than Black Ops 2/3s zombies so maybe I'll get some enjoyment from it.  I do like the 80s aesthetic at least.

Overall the single player has definitely been the strongest part of the package so far.  That and Modern Warfare Remastered which I'm enjoying greatly again.

I'm certainly not attempting to troll the thread or piss people off who have spent their hard earned money on it. I'm just at a loss how they could let the mp go so downhill.

Guess I'm in mourning.

Because youre being all mopey from a couple of hours on the beta, when the general consensus is that its very good.

You're spot on, I was trying to work out why I'm not as good at this MP as BlOps3 or MWR and you were right.

i don't feel aggrieved though, I buy COD to give me an FPS to play for the year, Infinite Warfare and MWR have given me that plus I got 2 amazing campaigns to play plus Zombies so bonus!

Clearly your general consensus source material is from the same place that thinks Jimmy Saville was a very nice guy.

im even boring myself now so I'm off

You're off your trolley if that's how you think, and you miss out on a good game out of stubborn pride over a beta.
