Netflix also announced on Wednesday that the four-part continuation would be released in its entirety on Friday, Nov. 25 at 12:01 am (aka Black Friday). Sherman-Palladino confessed to being disappointed that the streaming giant chose not to honor her wishes and unspool the 90-minute installments one — or even two — at a time. “I  told them I was going to hang myself with a shower curtain if they put them all out at once, and they said, “Wow, OK,” she joked to reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour immediately following the announcement

I love that clip, I was quite surprised that Alexis slipped back into Rory so effortlessly with her strange sing song voice, as I've seen her in other things and she doesn't really talk like that.

I do love the Gilmore Girls though. A few years ago, when I was going through quite a deep depression after being made redundant, I watched all seven seasons of it for the first time over a couple of months. Because the drama is super low stakes, and Stars Hollow is such a laid back place, it really helped me when I was otherwise feeling completely numb to the world.

Really glad that Sherman-Palladino is finally getting to finish the show on her own terms - just sad it's only four (long) episodes really.

I haven't read anything about it, but I really hope Rory now has a little brother or sister that wears a backwards baseball cap.

Same here. I have it on in the background every day now. I can't believe we're this lucky!!!!

It's amazing also seeing season 1 Rory, all baby faced with that high pitched voice, and then seeing and hearing her in the teaser her voice is so much darker these days (also in comparison to season 7 Rory). You never notice this stuff with people you spend your life with.

I am already dreading having to say goodbye a second time, though.

I really want to like this. I've never seen the originals, just that my ex always referred to it and heard great things online.

So I watch the first episode and I just don't get it. The script just seems forced, as if they're trying to cram as much "witty" dialogue into a scene as possible. The characters are also annoying - can you imagine having a real conversation with any one of them? And those obvious "hey look how edgy we are, we're making  commentary on modern technology and its effect on society" lines... meh.

The missus used to watch the  originals and that was exactly how I always described them. Sounds like the new  ones are exactly the same then!

My girlfriend got me to watch Gilmore Girls after I made her watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, she definitely liked Buffy more than I liked the Gilmore Girls but I could see its charms as a show that leaned towards appealing to women just a little bit too much for my tastes. I also found Rory quite annoying, especially as time went on, and despite liking Lorelai the path of her romantic life was just infuriating (I was rooting for Luke from the start); the departure of Amy Sherman-Palladino for the 'final' season didn't help either.

A Year in the Life is just brilliant though, the format is wonderful and nothing seems to be wasted on just passing time and filling episode quotas. We've watched an 'episode' a day since they came out, so tomorrow will be "Fall". It's funny and charming and, yes, I remind myself often that Stars Hollow is a fairytale and these people live ridiculously privileged lives of whimsy, but it's just so well put together. We'll see tomorrow, but so far I've liked the episodes where Daniel Palladino is credited as writer/director (Spring and Summer) more. I cried at "Unbreakable" like a big girl's blouse.

I do think the originally planned ending would have had more resonance when Rory was 22 as opposed to 32. My girlfriend was so cross about the ending she almost threw the remote at the telly, but I get what they were going for. She was also distraught that Rory was cheating on a boyfriend (whose running joke probably would have worked better if we'd never seen him on camera) with an almost married Logan. "Rory wouldn't do that!" She kept saying. I kind of got where she was coming from, but she's a fair bit younger than me, and as an almost 40 year old, I have done quite a few things that 20 year old me would have been shocked by. So it didn't bother me so much.

I did enjoy all the Bunheads cameos, and I just pretended it was MCU-Style Sherman-Palidino Universe crossover event, even if Sutton Foster was criminally wasted. Can't believe we didn't get a fast talk threeway between her and Emily Gilmore and Lorelai.

If if this is the end, I thought it was a bit weird how certain story threads (Paris and Doyle's for example) had no pay off or resolution though, felt like all the scripts needed a final polish. But I had few laughs, enjoyed  seeing everyone again, and basically it was a nice way to say goodbye to the permanently twinkly small town wonder of Stars Hollow.

My expectations and hopes have been smashed, and not in a good way.

Perhaps I am also too young, but most of it felt wrong and forced. Particularly Rory, I mean it's somewhat of a relief that reality set in and her carefully planned career didn't work out that way, but at the same time I found it all incredibly depressing.

I have so much more to say but I'd just go on a really negative rant and people here mostly seem to have enjoyed it, so I'll leave you to gush about it and I'll pretend I never watched it :D

(Or maybe a second watch will change my mind, now that I know exactly what I'm in for. Meh.)

I don't think so.

Maybe it's got to do with the fact that I've watched the original series about a million times, so all of this just felt entirely wrong. My opinion isn't based solely on what they did with Rory.

I didn't even like the looks of it. The colours. All the damn dreamlike musical sequences. I didn't enjoy any of it.
