Looked more Klingon to me, especially with the sound effects. It makes it look like the Klingons may have finally joined the Federation, or at least they've helped build a ship with them at at any rate.

Edit: Youtube video in the OP doesnt seem to work. This one does:

Please be good, please be good, please be good.

Not keen on the music they used in the trailer, not very Star Trek like. I'm hoping they have a TNG/DS9 style orchestral intro and not a Enterprise Rod Stewart-esq one again.

I'm not convinced by the design of the ship [1], or the quality of the CGI, but I know I'll be watching anyway.

Looking at the registry number, it appears to be set somewhere between Enterprise and TOS which means that it must be set in the original timeline.
From a continuity point of view that has to be the right decision as it would open a huge can of worms setting it after the JJA films in the original universe.

[1] Why resurrect something that wasn't up to the job last time it was proposed.

HATE the ship. But I have faith in Mr Fuller.

I guess I'm one of those Trekkers who wants to see adventures taking place in a post TNG/DS9 universe. The problem with the prime universe before these events is that they are somewhat constrained with what can happen.

I like it, the ship looks hard as nails, just right for infiltrating Klingon space.

Looks like it could be set 30-40yrs before the TOS, I bet Kirks dad has a role in it. (or is that only possible in the new ST timeline?, i get confused with all these alternate timelines in every show)

40 minutes ago, Mr Ben said:

Wasn't this series to have different crews, and be set in different eras? How will that work with one ship?

No one has any idea. They haven't announced anything storywise so it's all pure speculation right now. Best bit of info was that it's not set in TNG time.

you lot are fucking mental. The ship is badass! You should all be thankful that we're actually getting a new star trek TV series.

The Mcquarrie design wasn't rejected for being shit, but not suitable for the enterprise. This looks far more aggressive and feels massively dated to the time period that people seem to think its going to be set in - pre TNG

It's going to be awesome

Bryan Fuller has done some fantastic television series (Hannibal being a high point for me) - so I'm not overly concerned - in fact, I think it might be something special.  BUT I do like my Trek ships to have Nacelles.  I think my favourite ship design was Voyager, so was perhaps expecting something along those lines.

Have they announced any deals to show this on UK subscription services yet ? Don't know if we can get CBS Access...

On the ship, very Klingon. Is this set post-TOS ?

Set CG to massively-less-convincing-than-a-model :(

(and, as with others, what was with that music? If I want gloom and bombast in my sci-fi I've plenty of other options)

When you presenting something like that as first footage for such an avid fanbase you want it to look competent at the very least. I think Farscape had better CGi
