I just replayed the start and got it with no abilities.

It’s probably dead obvious and I’ve somehow missed it - tbh it didn’t bother me as I was avoiding combat altogether but now with my decision to try and farm the typhons I kind of need to be better armed.

The game is so dense it’s easy to miss things. Just replaying the first 30 mins there I got the disruptor gun and shotgun before I even found a pistol, which is the gun you’re ‘supposed’ to get first. I must’ve run right past it or something.

Oh yeah I found the disruptor gun myself last night too, I haven’t used it yet though. As you say there is just so much to explore and so many ways to do so, the goo gun alone is incredibly adaptable.

In a lesser game, it would be game-breakingly so. Here, it just expands your options.

Mate, your post was responding directly to Wiper saying that he wouldn't be comfortable saying the names of various powers out loud, so your defence of "calling nobody in particular weirdos" is convincing absolutely no one. Give it a rest.

Yeah, I was thinking that last night, the way the levels are designed and the way in which you can apply the goo, it’s very well thought out.

I forgot how tough this could be, even just playing on normal the enemies can be really difficult. Seems like trying to lure them into explosive cannisters is the way to go until I get more powerful. I do have the shotgun but can still take several shots for some of the tougher enemies to go down

I whacked it on easy after getting frustrated on normal, and just enjoyed the story/atmosphere. It’s a stellar game, and even on the lowest difficulty, had plenty of scares. There’s one later on that might be the greatest I’ve ever experienced in a game.

I really liked the DLC too, besides one aspect, but still throughly worth experiencing because it’s incredibly ambitious for add-on content.

Spoiler

I liked the randomisation aspect to a point, but having it affect key items too makes each run much more of a lottery than is satisfactory.

Even once you figure everything out, it’s chance whether you get through the mission. Others may disagree but think the key items being fixed would have been fairer, and lessened frustrations. At least runs could be planned out and solved with skill rather than a huge slice of luck.

Well I found a shotgun, believe it or not it was in:

Spoiler

The armoury ;)

Made my way quite deep into the station now, and what I would say is that it gets really really hostile the further I’ve gone, it makes me long for my apartment when I was blissfully unaware of what was going on

Actually with regards to weapons I’ve now reached a point where with all the guns and ammo I have there’s no room for much else in my inventory, still searching for the plans to fabricate turrets they must be the only one I don’t have, any clues?

But I’m at the point now where I need to make some decisions over what to carry. I guess I could always use fabricators for storage if necessary, is that possible, or just leave them on the floor?

I’m absolutely knackered having stayed up until 4am playing this, it’s way up there for me in my favourite games - tbh I cannot think of another studio making games this creative at this level.

I remember getting the shotgun pretty early by sequence breaking, which is one of my favourite things about it.

Much later on I got in a tough spot - played on Hard - where I faced a couple of tough opponents with hardly any ammo left. Trying to fight them kept resulting in me getting killed. Managed to escape by dumping my remaining points in stealth options, some sneaking and good timing and then some creative platforming with the makeshift platforms I made with the GLOO gun. Managed to bypass the enemies completely and it felt so good to solve a problem by just experimenting with the stuff I had at my disposal.

Similarly, I reached the

fake ending much earlier without using the elevator and using the GLOO gun to reach the shuttle instead.

Amazing game.

Snap!

The payoffs for messing around with the GLOO gun are just outstanding. Level design on another level entirely to most games.

I'm going with a guns n brawn run.  In the course of "tidying up" my office and the adjacent areas, to craft more bullets and Gloo in preparation for the Deep Storage segment  I've discovered you can recycle human bodies (ugh). Actually its much more efficient to simply recycle surplus ammo from under-used weapons, but its still an extraordinary tool. I remember doing this also in Alex's office and getting a snippy response.

Christ on a bike no one warned me there are actual

Spoiler

ghosts (poltergeists)

In this

I’m having so much fun now I’ve unlocked leverage III, so if I’m a bit low on ammo no problem just throw an entire cabinet full force at a phantom and take it out.

Kind of had to go for repair III too, I wanted it anyway to fortify turrets but also because a side mission I did appeared to require it.

Spoiler

Opening the moon doors in hardware labs to recover a satellite part.

Did anyone find another way to complete that mission?

Also am I missing something or is there no way to manually lock the door to your office from the inside?

I always think those particular Typhon are more mischievous than malicious and they can assist you in reaching high places, but the initial reveal is dead creepy with the footstep sounds.

I think you need Repair iiii for that.

If the lock is not to one side of the door then no.

That was another favourite bit for me: backing myself into a corner when a phantom was on the loose and scattering some items around on the floor in front of me. As soon as something moved of its own accord - boom.

Another gruesome new discovery in this "kill em all"attempted run is that immobilising possessed humans with Google causes them to literally lose their heads.

I knew Google was evil, but that's beyond the pail.

I'm not sure whether to stick to the human powers then maybe do another run in the future where I specialise with the alien powers.

It does feel a bit like Dishonored where you're actively discouraged from using the most fun/interesting sounding powers. Turrets turning on me is fine but the heavy but vague hints that something bad will happen is a bit frustrating. Not sure why Arkane have a habit of doing this.
