Been playing this pretty consistently since it arrived at the weekend and loving it. Production values are through the roof and really enjoying the Multiverse single player spin-off. I have finished the story mode once but need to go back through for the ending. Some really great moments in the cut scenes and brings all the characters together really well.

Leaning toward Green Arrow, Flash, Batman and Blue Beetle at the moment although it feels like I am using the same tactics for all of them which clearly isn’t the right way to play. Once the alternate story mode ending is sorted I will get more time with each of my favourites in practice and Multiverse to work out the best styles for them.

It’s been mentioned before but the only issue I have with the mechanics / animation is characters standing back up then instantly falling down after they have been beaten. It seems like such a simple thing to fix so no idea why they have left that in. The meter burn can make it a really technical fighter with you cancelling, countering and buffing special moves on the fly so looking forward to using that properly. Most fights for me just now come down to a trade off on juggles and special moves so being able to use the odd aerial escape would make a huge difference at the tickly bit of a close battle :)

One thing I am still not sure about on the customisation, are we only able to change the look of the base characters rather than have full alternate versions like Justice League movie skins? The DC TV show skin for Stephen Amells Green Arrow was great so would like to see more like that other than simply changing the shoulder pads on the stock character. The Reverse Flash, Jay Garrick, etc. look brilliant but there really isn’t enough of those for me.

EDIT - Also, whoever decided it would be a good idea to remove Deathstroke needs their head checked!

I imagine those will come as part of paid DLC...TV show flash, supergirl etc seem a shoe in.

Lotta projectile spammers online on this.

That's because there are a lot of zoning characters in the game. Dr. Fate and Deadshot, for example, are designed to be played as long range characters who control space with projectiles. Conversely, Cheetah and Bane are designed to get in the opponent's face and dominate at close range, Robin is most effective somewhere in between the two ranges as his normals and pokes outclass many characters but his full screen long range game is very weak.  Supergirl can do a bit of everything  as her trait lets her control the screen with projectiles, she has good mobility and a teleport to stop people zoning her out and she has good mix ups and pressure at close range.

I'm seeing a lot of complaining about zoning characters in this game and suggestions that they're "spamming" and it takes no skill etc. but this works on the understanding that playing aggressively is the "correct" way to play the game. Personally I like games where there are a number of different viable play styles and approaches and I hope NRS don't get too patch-happy in response to all of the complaining.

Also almost every character has some options against zoning, and even those who don't have specific moves to combat projectiles will still have the option to use a meter burn dash to get in at the cost of one bar.

Try to look for solutions to it rather than just write off the opponent as a "spammer". After all, if an opponent can beat you using just one move then it's not really the opponent who has the problem.

Nate's Twitter talk about a great loot grind sold me immediately. A few coupons later and its £28 from Tesco, coming tomorrow. I've never played a Netherealms(?) fighting-game, but they've had enough iterations to perfect their craft so i'll try anything once...or twice.

Only pisser is: as a life-long comic book reader - i fucking hate Batman and his DC cronies. Marvel is no better! So you get my drift. Hopefully the cast is diverse in the " who, what?" sorta sense.

Saw on a review of this last night that there are "premium skins" that turn characters into different ones - supergirl into powergirl, for example.

Are these "premium" as in "paid for" or "premium" as in "in the gane but harder to get"?

Both.

You can buy them/get some of them with fancier editions of the game, but you can get them with one of the in game currencies. Conveniently enough, one of the harder to grind currencies. You can get the Cyborg one (which is rubbish) for free by linking to the mobile version of the game.

Worth noting they are literally skins. Nothing of substance changes about the character, just the look (and the voice in some cases, i.e. John Stewart Green Lantern).

Both. They cost little yellow source crystal things, 6000 a piece. They're hard to come by (I completed the story and have done a fair few multiverse things and I only have 5,500). You can, however, buy the crystals with real money. Both crystals and the skins also have a chance to drop in loot boxes.

The premium skins are

Powergirl (for Supergirl)

Reverse Flash (new voice actor and lines)

Golden Age Flash Jay Garrick (new voice actor and lines)

John Stewart Green Lantern (new voice actor and lines)

Grid Cyborg (just link to the mobile game to unlock this one)

Mr Freeze for Captain Cold

Vixen for Cheetah (new voice actor and lines)

They do a good job of making superman and wonder woman really detestable fuckers in this series. Great fun-to-hate villains, and a much better way of handling Superman than BvS managed.

I find it very distracting just how horrible they are, particularly wonder woman. I guess that's what they're going for, but we've had almost 80 years of superman being a boy scout, so it's hard to adjust.

Also, he looks a bit like keiffer sutherland

Little tip for anyone who wants to level a character easily, as I didn't realise it till just.  By "easily" I mean sitting there while the computer does it for you and pressing x after each match.  So if you can sit near your game doing something else (I'm currently levelling Supergirl while browsing here) it's a pretty convenient way to sneak in some easy levels.

All you do is go to the character customisation screen, go to the character you want and edit the AI loadout.  I had no idea what these actually did, as I don't see it explained anywhere, but for now, just give that loadout the best gear you currently have.  Then press one of the shoulder buttons to edit the AI of how it fights.  Alter the bars so there's more in the attributes that play to the strengths of the character you've picked - so in my supergirl example, I removed grappling entirely, increased rushdown and combos.  If you had Bane though, you'd keep more in grappling, Deadshot would be zoning, and so on.  Then go to the multiverse and pick the endless mode.  On the character select, make sure you press square so you can choose the AI loadout, then select your character.  The AI loadout fights for you, while you still get to collect the rewards.  Then just sit back and occasionally press x to go to the next round while you pick up some easy xp and gear.

The AI is really easy at first so you get a decent amount of wins - that Supergirl run I just did went 27 wins and from level 5 to 10, so if you happen to have a setup where you can easily check on it while you're doing other stuff, it's worth doing.

Oh don't get me wrong, it's obviously not as good as playing yourself, as you don't learn the characters for when you do want to use them.  It's more to help level so you have more chance of doing some of the multiverse challenges where you need specific characters levelled, or at least that's the appeal for me.  I've levelled 3 characters to 20 properly without using the AI now so I'm not adverse to levelling them, but I dont fancy the amount of playing if have to do to level them all, and there's something annoying about something popping up that I can't complete because it needs a character I haven't played yet at level 10 or something.

Is there space in the Rllmuk guild still?

Tried three ranked matches this morning and was met with three Deadshots, first Deadshot i got down to the second health bar but fuck me is it hard to get through all those spam shots.

Any general tips for these kind of match ups.

Batman is the only character i made it even close to Deadshot and that was spamming the slide move to get in close. (Spam vs Spam).
