Pitt cue

Recommended Posts

Just staggered away from an evening at the new Pitt cue restaurant in the city.

Totally, totally amazing. If you're a fan of hawksmoor you'll love it.

theyve taken the tiny bbq joint in soho and moved to a more grown up space by spitalfields.

Cocktails are ace. (Manhattans very good) Beer is brewed on site. The rye was tasty

We we had blood sausage and house wurst for starters and then smoked feather blade and smoked Pork Jowl for mains with bone marrow mash and chilli slaw. The mash itself is to die for. The Jowl, a symphony in smoky fatty goodness.

Bliss.

We got a mini tour of the kitchen and smokers and it's just brilliant

it's like bbq but very British. Almost like st.john with the nose to tail eating but a serious meat lovers paradise.

I may have gout.

Get yourselves down there.

How is the size of the venue? I liked Pitt Cue when I've been, cracking food, but what I hate is being crammed next to someone when I'm trying to eat. Was sat opposite my friend, but had a massive bloke next to me and it was uncomfortable when we both started to eat.

It's big, like a proper restaurant. So lots of room. Not too many tables crammed in. Menu has changed a bit since the last place - no pulled pork!

I went for the third time last night. It's fucking epic. If I could marry the pork jowl I would. I had one of the starters for dessert, because goddamn, pig.

Sounds great. Never made it to the Soho restaurant as was too busy the few times I tried. If they take bookings I may have to go this weekend

Quite like the look of this one, cheers @And.

I took in a visit to Blacklock a month or so ago with friends. Gordon Ramsay had tweeted about it, did a bit of research and found out a couple of the Hawksmoor guys set up shop with it and it's a great chops restaurant - literally all they do, are chops. Well worth a visit.

And last night, the fourth :)

Everyone owes it to themselves to go.

Was trying to arrange a night to go to Pitt Cue with some friends.

"I'm busy Tuesday, and I'm sure I'm doing something Thursday, so let's go Wednesday"

"Excellent, sorted"

So we're going on the Wednesday. I have since remembered what I'm doing on the Thursday...

Going to Pitt Cue.

Pitt cue again last night.

Startlingly good food.

We split salt beef scrumpet and smoked beef on toast to start

then lamb rump and smoked beef rib caps with some salad.

So tasty.

Having not had access to a Bodean's, the UK bbq explosion started at the time Pitt and Red's (in Leeds) opened up for me. Around 2011.

Which was amazing timing as I'd just spend a couple of months living in North Carolina, and had become dependent on mustard-based bbq sauce and non-saucy smoked ribs.

Only actually went to Pitt once, but loved it. Sad to see it go, and to see Red's closing some branches. But I suppose this wave may be coming to an end. I still love doing some ribs myself, but my bbq/smoking fervour has definitely flattened out.

Deeply sad. I think it was my favourite ever restaurant. In disagreement with others I thought the new (newer anyway, it's been years!) site was a vast improvement over the soho place.
