Moving away from product placement for a second...

I was a little bit underwhelmed with the title song for this when it was released. I didn't think it was bad - I immediately liked it better than Sam Smith's 'Writing on the Wall' for example, which I think is just unrelentingly shit - but it was ploughing the same furrow for me. Mopey Craig Bond Returns, here's some sad music to listen to while he limbers up. I was disappointed.

Which has since been reversed because thanks to discovering this instrumental version of the track on Spotify, I am fully converted to the idea that it might be a high water mark of Bond signatures. It's somehow it's own beast while bringing all of the signanture Bond touches in at the appropriate moments, never outstaying their welcome.

Has Tom Scott been lurking in this thread? Casino Royale, Hawaii 5-0 and Wayne's World all get covered in his video on advertising:

Love his channel! He did another mention of James Bond in one of his videos.

Look, I know it’s a tenuous link, but that’s where we are and there’s nothing I can do about it. Nothing!

Keeping the tenuous James Bond links going, the monorail in that video is at the Amberley Museum which is where they filmed the entrance to Max Zorin's mine in A View to a Kill.

Dates in the previous post still apply, but Australia has now changed with the current situation there. 11 November for them now. And with their situation still being a bit fluid, I suppose that could change again.

I wonder if mgm will change there stance on cinema only and not the hybrid cinema and dual streaming day of release.

A couple of up coming movies in the last week have changed  to that. (Granted more family orientated movies) Sony’s hotel Transylvania 4 has now gone directly to Amazon instead of the cinema and the Addams family 2 is also doing hybrid cinema / home rental day of release as they studios realise that the delta covid variant esp in the states is going to have a huge impact on cinema attendance.

Surely they can’t delay this movie any longer before people just become disinterested?

The news on the radio said the world premiere in London would be in September. They can't delay this any longer. I think they're just going to have to take the loss in box office revenue and move on. The thing was filmed in 2019. It's already yesterdays news.

Yeah, Bond has been playing catchup for years already, so an extra-dated Bond seems like a really, really bad idea.

They’ve had enough time to clone stamp Craig out of every frame and replace him with literally anyone else that gives enough of a shit to try and put in their best possible performance.

A 45 minute official feature on Craig's tenure as Bond will be available on the Apple TV app from 7 September to 7 October. The wording seems a little ambiguous, but it seems to be reported as being free to all, not just Apple TV subscribers.

To be fair, Bond has been extra-dated for years.

I'm saying this as a Bond fan, but compared to the Mission Impossible films, this just looks dull.

At least they're saying this is the conclusion, it's hard to believe that Craig's tenure has been going for 15 years. Christ, when he came on as Bond it was all about making it more like the Bourne films, how old is that?

The trailers did a good job of reminding me how dull this looked.

Every time they make a good one (Casino Royale for example) they completely fuck it up by looking to the past, paying homage to bullshit abritary anniversaries of Bond, etc. They can't help themselves.
