I have the closest thing to portable Souls on one of my PSPs

Okay, maybe not. :P (PS! King's Field is super-hard, especially when L2 and R2 are the analogue nub.)

I've also got an image of the OPSM Net Yaroze collection on there, which is good fun. :)

Top tip by the way, forgot to mention this earlier.

When I modded my PSP I was convinced the screen wasn't as bright as it had been.  There's a plugin you can download that gives you full control of the brightness and it made a massive difference for me.  Turns out that my PSP was only on 68 brightness out of a possible 100.  This lets you put it right:

These Kings Field games any good, anything like elder scrolls? KF2 (JP 3) seems to have above ground exploration... anything open world obvlivion-esque available to a hacked PSP?

KF is a fun curio but I'd say it's very limited compared to (what I've played of) TES games. There's no real cosmetic customisation and the areas are linear and maze-like at times - there's not really a massive open world like TES.

From what I've played on the system I can't think of a huge amount of "open world" PSP games - the 3D GTAs, maybe?

Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble

Gachitora

Yakuza Black Panther and its sequel.

Rest of the Kenka Bancho series.

Those are the ones I can think of.  Only the top one is in English.

Is Gachitora that game I saw someone streaming on a ps4 where you beat people up and their clothes come off? Is that danganropa bear in it?! Weiiird.. Seems it isnt in english? Just the Yakuza spin offs and Kenka Bancho.

Not really into otaku anime gaijin baka-san stuff

I got the GTA's, theyre good and all (wish they wouldve brought a san andreas out on psp) but i mean more like fantasy wizardy/elder scrolls vibe to it. (: If that post is about open world games that is.

That doesn't sound like Gachitora, where you are a teacher.  I didn't get far into it, but I didn't come across beating people to make their clothes fall off.  No Danganrompa bear in it.  Its quite good, but I bought my Vita soon after getting it, so I stopped playing it.

Good review here

It's for 2000s I think. I have a 1000 and a 2000 as well as component and composite cables for the latter, and they have a plug like this:

which doesn't exist on the 1000.

Qazi above got the point across better than me, the plug on the cable doesn't fit the 1000, so i think the answer is no.

Ah, of course. Have just checked ours and the socket doesn't exist!

Will have to brave the loft in that case and hunt for the 2000 that's up there somewhere.

Thanks both

Unrelated to this thread I recently dusted off the 3000 I’d not touched in 3 years in order to use Little GP Tracker/LGPT, an open-source music editor. Naturally I got sidetracked, put some games and emulators on there and am currently playing through Final Fantasy IV (the PSP sort-of remaster), and am addicted to Wipeout Pulse.

Can someone name a game I remember seeing on here years ago, I think it was Japan-only, it looked like you were digging down creating a network of tunnels. The music was absolutely superb

Anyway, my picks would be:

Lumines – pretty obvious really, although either the 3000’s d-pad is crap or broken because it keeps drifting to the right.

Monster Hunter Freedom Unite – the tutorials took me 9 hours, I know plenty of people who have put hundreds of hours into this.

Pixeljunk Monsters – I dare not fire it up, way too addictive

DJ Max Portable games – very hard, music is generally awful but once you get the flow it feels so good.

WDIDTDTMLBadman? It got a release here but I think some sequels may have been Japan-only...

I'm amazed my PSP still works perfectly! Over 10 years old now, and a launch model. 'DAT screen' is pretty horrifying by today's standards though.

Has any console had a better launch line up? The true return of WipEout, which was the best one up to that point, an excellent Ridge Racer sequel, one of the best golf games I've ever played, and Lumines, which I know a few people really like. It was quite unique at least, and the soundtrack was really good.

Can anyone recommend a good video converter for the psp?

Have a long drive ahead of us on holiday. Loaded a 64gb card with films converted with a freebie I found online....picture is fine but sound quality terrible. Sounds like you're listening under water!

If only the battery was like 3x better, my PSP is always powering out.

The PSP battery loses charge really fast. You can charge it, play for half an hour, turn it off, go back a week later and it'll tell you it's nearly out of juice all of a sudden. And that's not even on stand-by. I assume it's using some older battery tech.

Any recommendations on how I can make my PSP 1000 a bit more comfortable for my hands? Analog stick cap? Unfortunately there are no hand grips available for that particular model :(
